I absolutely love my local Unilocaler-​thespians and friends Tara Henry, Allen Schmeltz and Amanda Yount for keeping an active abiding passion love of theatre alive in me. Because of their passion, it inflames my own passion for theatre. And because of that I DO find myself actively pursuing opportunities when I am visiting other locales. And such was the case when I was on a recent junket to L.A.
SETUP
I came across the L. A State Alliance upon the recommendation of local (to L.A.) colleagues that I was conducting training with in Monterey Park. Knowing my passions, they suggested that I check out the L.A. Stage Alliance while I was down here.
THEATRE EXPERIENCE THROUGH COOPERATIVE EFFORTS
In exploring L.A. State Alliance, I was truly impressed to find out that they provide a forum for those interested in performing arts, as well as resources for arts organizations. Since this organization is «networked» so immensely with many others in the artistic community, L.A. Stage Alliance is able to foster a platform upon which all theatre artists may share and rise together with.
This protective-​community provides a «proving-​ground» of sorts, allowing artists to reach increasingly ambitious artistic and administrative goals and heights as they develop and mature, so it’s no surprise that L.A. Stage Alliance the «go-​to source» for audience resources and serves often as the voice of the legitimate arts sector when questioned or queried by elected officials and media outlets.
PASSIONATE!
The couple of plays I witnessed here were inspiring and full of amazing talent. Two plays coming up that I would also like to see include «California Dreamin» starting on Feb 10, 2012 (running thru March 11) and «Antony & Cleopatra» starting Feb 25 (running thru May). I’m looking for ANY excuse to get back down there during these times so I can see them!

Acting! Theatre! Stage Left! It infuses the passions that keeps us excited about life! And they are all in large supply at L.A. Stage Alliance!

Thanks to Unilocal,and the review of Ken N, I found the LA Stage Alliance.
I got tickets half of for: Battle Hymn showing at Inside the Ford.
I cannot believe that for the same price as movie tickets, we saw awesome theater.

OK, I know: For 90% of the population, theatre is sort of like poetry: It was real boring in school, and you knew that eggheads liked it, and you thought that maybe if you were really smart, maybe you might like it too, but all the drama geeks were… well…f*ckin’ geeks. I say unto you: There is nothing more powerful than a good play. It’s like a good book, except there are real live people no more than just a few feet away from you, and if they’re real good, you sort of forget about the whole make-​believe pretend «I’ve got a barn, you’ve got a story, let’s put on a play» aspect of the whole thing: When everything is right: ItwillchangeyourlifeI sweartogod.
Except theatre is expensive, right? More than a movie. Less than dinner, but more than a movie. Right?
Go to this website. Register. Get theatre tickets for HALF PRICE. You will see some f*ckin’ fantastic theatre, if only because LA has some of the best actors in the country and they will work for less than food just because they HAVE TO. You might see some bad theatre too, but hey, you see bad movies, right? You see some bad TV, and you’re payin’ for cable, right? Why not see something that might CHANGE YOUR LIFE because you will be so moved by the plight of people who ARE IN THE SAME ROOM AS YOU? I’m telling you, seriously: LA theatre is (mostly) better than food.
