Hubby and I came for some food and after we had our lunch we found the store n went buy to check it out.: got some conchas, Mexican bread, and cheese head oh my it’s delicious !! We are def. coming back !

I was in the neighborhood yesterday and went into La Morena because I saw the word «tamales» written on their doors. I was not hungry (coz I just ate a fabulous lunch at Guisado’s!!) so I decided to get 1 tamale for later. I got the rasa y queso (chile and cheese) tamale. I put in the frig overnight and ate it tonight.
WOW!!! How I wish I had gotten several! I am going back soon to get more! So delicious, the masa was just right, and the filling was spot on! Also, the gentleman behind the counter was so super nice and friendly, it just makes you feel happy to be around him.
I wish LA didn’t have such heavy traffic… otherwise, I’d be on the road right now back to La Morena! Thank you for the heavenly tamale, and see you very soon!

I come to this place every year for my 25 lbs of masa to make tamales. Tried other local places by the house to buy my masa but they are not the same. La Morena’s masa is soft and smooth and makes the fluffiest tamales. My friends comment how good my tamales are. That credit goes to the masa-​! The parking is ony meter parking so go early.

After we killed the tacos from Guisados we went over here to by some tortillas (same ones that they use at Guisados) for some Carnitas tacos tonight. A package of 50 costs only $ 1.62 with tax. That’s a deal.
Yes, the owner of Guisdaos also owns this marketita. That’s how it goes, yo!

They have cleaning supplies, t shirts and CHICHARONES!!!

Great pastries. Small place, smaller than a local liquor store. They have some über fluffy, sugary, flakey pastries that melt in your mouth! A great dessert spot after eating Guisados who are literally one door away.
Remember to grab a metal plate and tongs to get some of those pastries at the front desk. Then pick your pastries out like a boss.

Year after year, this is the place to get maza for tamales. Their maza comes with a soft silky texture and the end result is a soft tamale.
