Came here a couple of weeks ago with coworkers on a Saturday morning. Feeling welcomed? There wasn’t really a welcome. We all ordered individually and we all seemed to be treated a bit different. The employee at the reg was a little more helpful with me than she was with my coworkers, she had a bit of an attitude with them. Made me feel a little bad since i am the one that wanted to try this place out. Food and baked goods? Yes they are good but a bit overpriced. I’ve had better tasting pan dulce at half the price. Coconut cake: very moist and perfect amount of sweetness. Dulce de leche filled roll: Amazing!!! Although I expected it to be a little warmer and fresh. Quiche: More on the bland side, would not recommend it. Café oaxaca: its a blend of coffee with mexican hot chocolate. Very sweet! Box of assorted cookies for 12 dollars well worth it. Not sure that would be enough for us to make a trip from the valley. The girl at the counter def needs a better customer service face.

Love their vegetarian chorizo & their chili verde beef on of the reasons I like coming here. & my kids love thee mini conchas. But customer service always throws me off.(Well the person at the register) they always make you feel rushed & aren’t as welcoming as other employees. Makes me not want to stop by anymore. My husband is a baker & this is nothing compared to his Mexican baking but like I said my children enjoy the mini conchas so I stop once in a while to purchase a good amount. They definitely need to work on there customer service at the register and not be so aggressive like you’re trying to get rid of the customer.

I love little eateries that are kept clean. This place is a gem. It located in a strip mall right next to Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. You would forget that you were in Hollywood! The coffee condiment counter is spotless. The pastries are nicely arranged to show their freshness. Although their cakes are not fancy looking, they are really good. Erika offered to let us try the coffee flan and the coconut flan. They were so good that we ended up getting both to take home. We bought 4 wedding cookies and were packed a coconut macaroons to take with us. Aside from the place looking so well kept, the bathroom is very clean as well … in Hollywood mind you!

Baking goods are delicious. I’ve tried mostly all of their cookies. Being here always take me back home. Pan dulce is good, bolillos are delicious when they are freshly out of the oven. The tres leches is a killer! it is so damn good I always want to come back for a second slice.(why they get the 4 stars). This cake is the real deal, my best description to describing my watering needs… ha-ha! — Bread is perfect — not the vanilla kind that makes a cake overly sweet. — frosting tastes fresh and is not the classic annoying overly sweet kind. — the milk is on point and you can taste all 3 milks. — fresh and spongy the right amount of sweetness is all you need = LOVE Coffee — meh! not so good. Sweet drinks — good but can get a bit too sweet at times.

Mexican coffee is so good! I also go the cheese, ham, and pepper croissant which was delicious! Too bad they only had the large size. it was really big. They forgot about my croissant order, but I chatting with my friend and didnt mind at all, but apologized and gave us a cinnamon roll while we waited. The people there are so nice and it’s a nice casual place. There was always 1 or 2 parking spots left the few times I went, and lots of street/other plaza parking.

This Café and Bakery reminded me of a Mexican Starbucks. They offered delicious coffee as well as varies traditional pastries, breads and breakfast. The Breakfast Tortas looked delicious and the Chipotle Chorizo Corssiant was flavorful with a unique spicy flare. If you are in the must stop by to try pastries taken to another level.

Was very excited to come in for the first time. The menu looked appealing and my partner and I were very eager to try it out . To say the very least without hurting anyone’s feelings. The reason for the 4.5 stars on here is probably because of white people who don’t know what a good Mexican bakery is. I’ve seen better hole in the wall bakeries, but then again I’m sure monarca bakeries is targeting the non Latino community. Anywho, I grew up buying huge conchas(not conchitas) 4 for a $ 1 and even now 3 for a $ 1 My problem wasn’t so much that the *conchitas* were 69 cents. My problem was that not on top it being overpriced, THEYWEREHARDANDSTALE and the stuff on top didnt taste like anything. My partner bough a cheese croissant and the cheese was sour and the bread was stale. I also got a guava filled bread and the filling slimy and nasty. …really for 2.50 each ??? I was so looking forward to trying the tres leches cake because I wanted to order one for my birthday in 2 weeks. …all I can say is that ill be buying it from PORTOS ! I mean if they are going to charge so much for bread, etc. At least make sure that it blows peoples mind and that it’s warm bread If it’s a bakery, it should smell like a bakery .not cleaning products. My rant ends with this. Don’t make something Mexican inspired and call it an «open faced sandwich» cuz its no where near a sandwich. it’s a MOYETTE(half a bread with beans and melted cheese on top) I give this place one star because the older lady giving us samples was super nice and trying to recommend everything Everyone must be thinking that I’m just bashing this place to bash it, but my answer is IMNOT. I’m just trying to let people know my honest opinion and hopefully they don’t continue to think this place is the best Because not only is it overpriced but the food /items are tasteless and cold. Try out a hole in the wall bakery and you’ll know what a good bakery is or at least take your butt to PORTOS if you want to pay the premium price for at least good food.

Only tried the ham, cheese, and jalapeño croissant here and loved it! I really liked the soft texture overall. The croissant wasn’t too flaky and tasted amazing heated up and with the jalapeño sauce on the side.

So it is almost 1PM as I write this, and I am still sitting in this café waiting for my order. I came in around 11:45 to order a cinnamon roll, which I’ve had at their location in South Pasadena and it was fantastic, so I figure I’d head to a different location to grab another one. The cashier informed me that they were in the oven and it would take about 35 minutes, and I figured I had some free time this afternoon so why not right? Bad idea. It has been well over an hour now and I’m debating on just leaving, even though I already paid for the item and the chai tea latte, which I received. Long story short, if you go and they say something isn’t ready, don’t order it, or you’ll be here all afternoon!

Mi amiga recommended this place for its Mexican pastries, particularly the tacos de guava(or pineapple or caramel). I stopped by to pick some up for the office. They are $ 1.80 each, but you get 2 free if you buy a dozen($ 18.50). The guava filled ones are a little plumper and my favorite taste-wise. There’s a small assortment of Mexican pan(both small and large) and cookies. Prices range from $ 0.60 to $ 2 each. La Monarca also offers whole cakes($ 30 for 8″), slices($ 4.50), and a variety of coffee drinks. I ordered the Mexican coffee($ 1.95 small), and it was bueno. Apologies for the elementary Espanol; I’m working on it. Gracias.

Went here for a study session with my boyfriend. The inside has a homey feel to it — clean, bright and definitely does not look like how you’ll expect a café in the area to look like. The shelves of pastries and cakes are all so inviting and it’s just difficult to decide what to order. In the end, we got a Café Del Carmen, a Café San Cristobal the torta sandwich sampler, and a caramel-filled pastry. Really really enjoyed my Del Carmen. I will go back to this place even just for that. I didn’t enjoy the San Cristobal as much but it made me appreciate Mexican chocolate more. As for the sandwich sampler, nothing special with all 5 sandwiches. A bit disappointed actually… The caramel pastry saved the day though. It’s something I’d love to have when I’m stressed at work. ^_^

Best coffee ever! It reminds me of my mom. They have a champurrado with espresso that is so heart warming. Their pastries are super yummy, but their little cookies in the front are the best. They will give you a free sample to try, which is super generous. I wish it was cheaper, but this is my new coffee go to place. The staff is sooo nice and they play some great tunes! Free wi-fi.

Delicious deserts and coffee! Free samples friendly staff what else can you ask for! Kevin was great and explained everything to me I really appreciate how welcoming he was! I will be returning here again even if I live in the long beach area. Way worth the drive, if you love Tierra Mia then you will be in love with la monarch bakery in my opinion they are way better! A must try!

Definitely so happy with their service. I have been several times now and can’t believe the portion sizes and prices. I used to go to the Starbucks right across the street. It can cost up to $ 12 for a sandwich and coffee there. At La Monarca, you can get the most delicious homemade food for awesome prices as well as awesome coffee. The bakery is way more impressive than you average coffee shop. Really great environment as well. I always see people in there studying and in that cozy environment I can see myself breaking out a book and enjoying a yummy treat! Very friendly staff as well!

This café was right beside the motel my friend was staying in so we decided to give it a go since it looked nice! We tried the vegetarian molletes and quiche! I was dicy about the soy in molletes but trust me it doesnt even taste anything like soy. In fact it was really tasty. The iced coffee was good too! A break from the dusted Starbucks! Must try café in Hollywood! Super sweet staff.

I stopped by here once to see what they offer since the word bakery caught my eye. It’s a Mexican bakery offering a lot of traditional Mexican baked goods. It’s a nice space with ample tables and chairs for seating. They have their baked goods in a case where you grab the ones you want to buy with tongs and use a silver try to carry them to the counter. I’ve had the Mexican cornbread, and a few other sweet pastries and all were really good and noticeably fresh-tasting since they are baked right on the premises. One of the friendly wait staff offered a sample of a special sweetened coffee that had a cinnamon flavor but I usually like to take black coffee to compliment sweet desserts so I passed and said I’d try it next time. These aren’t your $ 0.90 donuts. The prices are slightly on the higher side with baked goods being anywhere between $ 1.75 to $ 5.00 so expect to pay over $ 4.00 for a pastry and coffee combination. There are a few interesting savory items I noticed up front near the cash register that I may go back and try sometime. I also saw they had Mexican cookies for $ 0.50 that come in a variety of flavors. It’s a good place to get the morning coffee and pastry knowing that you’ll get freshly baked goods but at a slightly higher price. But hey, anything is better than Starbucks baked goods, right?
