Specialties
Especializamos en Desayunos y Almuerzos, autentico-como hecho en casa. We use the freshest ingredients to bring you the best mexican breakfast in East LA. Try the Huevos Divorciados (un huevo banado con chile verde, un huevo banado con chile colorado, separados por unos chilaquiles y frijoles) and you will fall in love. The Chilaquiles are also a favorite. People come from miles away for our Barbacoa, Tacos Dorados and Chiles Rellenos. Our plates are simple and our flavor is oh so Sabroso. Oh, you gotta try the Chupacabra — habanero pico de gallo salsa.
History
Established in 1955.
In the over 50 years of this Mom & Pop restauarant ownership has changed three times. The menu and the recipes have remained the same, and the flavor just keeps getting better. Berta Plantillas, owner for 28 years, put La Carreta on the map as a meeting point for local and state politicians with her longtime involvement of communtiy projects. Now in the hands of Maricela Robles, Business Woman of the Year 2008, the restaurant continues to flourish as a ‘hole in the wall’ with a vivacious flair and a taste second to none.
