About 2 months ago, I found Eric through an online ad. Being a true beginner, I had no idea of what to expect from a private guitar instructor. By the end of our first session, I knew I wanted to learn from him. He possesses vast knowledge and experience(classically trained) when it comes to the guitar. Most importantly, he easily adapts to any skill level. His passion to teach is evident in how patient he is with his students. I highly recommend Koreatown Guitar Lessons to anybody who wants to seriously learn the guitar!

I’m a fairly experienced player, and I went to Eric to be retrained in proper fingerstyle technique. He delivered exaxctly what I wanted, and even exceeded my expectations in several ways. While fingerstyle mechanics were all I asked of him, I have no doubt he’d be a great teacher for anything else as well. He knows his stuff, is a nice guy, and definitely has the passion for guitar that an instrcutor should.

After taking private instruction for a few months at Koreatown Guitar Lessons, I’ve noticed a steady improvement in my technique and versatility as a guitarist. Eric, my instructor, has been classically trained which informs his coaching – he focuses on good practices and routinely corrects the quirks of my form. And because he draws on such a vast knowledge of theory it has been easy to pick up songs of many different genres. I’ve learned a handful of classic rock and indie-folk songs, alternating between his recommendations and my choices; he helps narrow down my suggestions to the songs I can learn most from and actually play. Normally, we end up with a song just out of my grasp that challenges me to grow as a musician. I look forward to the lessons and practice regularly because he’s always so patient and low-key but also committed to making the best use of my time. Each week we track the progress of previous lesson material(songs we’ve worked on) and augment my knowledge of theory by learning new shapes or strum patterns. Revisiting songs from previous weeks is rewarding because I can hear the progress I’ve made and it helps keep me motivated. As you can probably tell by now, I’m very satisfied with my instruction – much more so than with previous instructors – and it has everything to do with the fact that Eric loves what he does.
