Food flavors are unique. They have fantastic selection of Tacos. Food came out fast and well prepared. Tacos are too small and expensive for their size. However, the food was really good and meat are well marinated. Try to be back some other time.

My only negative /​heartbreak here is that they don’t do a great job communicating where they’ll be, and the sister storefront never knows where they are either. OTHERWISE — I love Komodo’s wild and unique tacos! It was one of 3 or 4 places I crave when I know I’m going back to LA.

The tacos were too small and too expensive for their size. The shrimp was one note spicy. The komodo (steak) however was really good. It was bite size meat, juicy, well marinated, tender, with a nice jalapeño sauce. I will go back and get the komodo burrito. my friend got it and really liked it.

I have waited way too long writing this review, I remember keeping it simple with their fish and grapes taco and an order of their fries and really enjoying both.
They have a fantastic selection of unique tacos you will not find at any other place.
Prices and portions are fair, food came out quickly and was presented nicely.
Flavors are unique, Komodo is worth checking out, I will have to be back to try more next time!

Love these guys! I hired their truck for my wedding and it was a huge hit! Great food and friendly staff! 3 tray passed apps for the cocktail hour and salad, fries, and 4 taco flavors for dinner! It was amazing!

Blazin shrimp tacos are sooooo amazing. Perfect amount of spicy goodness. Their truffle fries were so good I wish they had a bigger size… Because I really hated sharing my order of them.

My goto food truck: tex mex with thai twist.
First things first: their komodo 2.0 burrito is just delicious and I suggest you get that before anything else. The steak is quite tender, the tortilla tastes fresh and is just the right amount of chewy, and the sauce is tangy and hits all the right notes.
Second: their combo deal is great and here’s why: all their mixes come in burrito or taco, and their combo is one burrito one taco and one drink for 10 $ (great deal I think by food truck standards). So this way every time you get the combo, you get the burrito you want, and try one new mix as a taco, if you like it, that’s your next burrito, if you don’t, you never have to have a whole burrito you don’t like!
And the food comes out in a timely fashion.

I’ve eaten at the Komodo Truck basically every time I see it in Santa Monica’s Food Truck Alley and the food here is consistently delicious! The vibe is very similar to other trucks like Kogi where they have tacos and burritos with an Asian twist. A secret gem of their menu is the truffle fries and garlic fries, both so tasty and flavorful (and the portions are HUGE)! Make sure to get fries with whatever tacos you order: even though it seems like a strange combination, it’s totally worth it.
The main attraction is all the TACOS (which you can also get in burrito form but I like to get the tacos so I can try a few different things)! I love the Komodo 2.0 which comes with seared top sirloin steak, jalapeño aioli, and corn salad; Asian Marinated Chicken with jalapeño stir-​fried rice, green onions, mandarin oranges, sesame seeds, and a sweet soy sauce glaze; and Blazin’ Shrimp with sour cream salad and cilantro (but be warned that it is SPICY!). The balance of flavors in all of them is really great, especially playing on the sweet and spicy blend – which I’m a sucker for. The meat isn’t quite as tender and tasty as Kogi, but it’s undoubtedly amazing!
The Deadly Combo is the way to go because you get two tacos, fries, and a can of soda for a pretty reasonable $ 10. That is perfect food truck food if you ask me! Also, I just found out that there’s a Komodo restaurant in Venice and I am heading there as soon as possible because they have even MORE incredible looking options. Overall, Komodo is worth the stop if you ever see it and the wait is usually way more reasonable than other food trucks!

Wow … it has been almost 5 years (March 2010) since my 1^st experience with Komodo Truck. At the time, one of the food courts at my campus was undergoing reconstruction — so my school brought in various food trucks during weekday lunch hours as the temporary replacement for the food court. Personally, Komodo Truck was the best out of 20~25 food trucks (Nom Nom Truck was my 2^nd favorite).
Moving on to 2015, Komodo now has two actual store locations (one at Pico and one at Venice). Recently, I spotted Komodo Truck at the First Annual San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival and decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, burrito option wasn’t available and I ordered the most attractive option — the Killer Combo.

Asian Marinated Chicken (Grilled marinated chicken, jalapeño stir-​fried rice, green onions, mandarin oranges, sesame seeds & sweet soy sauce glaze): Meat was dry and my least favorite taco out of the four. (²⁄₅)
Java (Indonesian pork rendang braised in coconut milk w/​tomato/​cucumber salad, green onions & fried shallots): Juicy and flavorful meat. (⁴⁄₅)
Fish N’ Grape (Deep fried Alaskan cod, fresh concord grapes, roasted almonds w/​sour cream salad): Excellent sour cream salad with nice crunchy texture from roasted almonds. (⁴⁄₅)
Blazin’ Shrimp (Spicy Singaporean-​style shrimp, sour cream salad & cilantro): If you are a fan of spicy food, you’ll love this. Spicy shrimps packed with flavors. (4.5÷5)

For 1^st timer, I would give killer combo a try just so that you know what flavors you like. However, I would only order burrito if I want to get the best bang for the buck (enough food to fill your tummy). For now, I can’t really justify a 4-​star when I paid $ 10 for four tacos and I wasn’t even 50% full.
Honestly, I probably skip Komodo Truck and visit Komodo Café for a better experience.

The food was good but a friend recently hired this truck for 2 hours and they stopped serving after 1 hour 20 minutes. They claimed that we were a bigger group than promised. Not true. They claimed people were coming over from other shows. Not true. They claimed to have run out of food. Rip off?
Then I heard someone say the same thing happened with this truck on another show. Scam?

As Komodo Truck promised, not your typical taco truck! Checked out the fusion tacos at Komodo Truck at First Friday in Abbot Kinney in Venice. That soy sauce glaze on the Asian marinated chicken taco was a sweet and savory bomb (and, oh those mandarin orange slices!)! Try the Komodo sirloin steak taco! It was dangerously good – there’s a reason it’s their signature grub! Proving once again that all things are better in taco form!

Probably the bombest taco place ever!!!
I grew up living around taco trucks and don’t get me wrong I love my taco trucks, but the way these tacos taste and how the different foods come together, it’s AHHHmazing!
Will defiantly be coming back!

One star is probably a bit forgiving.
Komodo food was supposed to serve close to 250 people tonight at my brother’s wedding. The starter was supposed to be salad and everyone was supposed to get 3 tacos plus fries.
Unfortunately, having a year and a half to prepare for a wedding is not enough. A third of the guests did not receive salad, which was literally five pieces of spinach. Some guests waited 2 hours for their food, and I actually don’t know if some of them even got food.
The tacos were way smaller than what was sampled at the restaurant. I hate leaving negative Unilocal reviews or any reviews at all, but this was so embarrassing and unacceptable. A response of whether it was going to be this slow and unorganized the entire evening was, «it’s gonna be like this because people are coming too fast.» I didn’t know 2 hours was too fast.
Completely unacceptable for the amount that was paid for this food, that could have been a great delicacy and experience. Instead, the sweet and forgiving guests waited patiently for something that I’m not even sure was worth the wait. I know the in n out burgers that we had to get after the wedding were more satisfying. My family and I feel so disrespected, and there will definitely be some calls made.

Tried this truck at a Unilocal event for the first time this summer and the food was fun but could use an extra kick of flavor! I had the kbbq tacos, chicken mandarin tacos, and their garlic fries– all of which were pleasing but missing that extra kick that would make they really stand out! Friendly staff though so I’ll definitely try them again!

BOMB DOT COM! I love their tacos, especially the steak tacos. The chicken tacos are also quite tasty. Oh and the garlic aioli fries are amazing!
I have only eaten from this truck a few times, so I’m looking forward to coming back and trying something new.

We tried the 4 tacos for $ 10.
We got the Komodo 2.0 (which was good), Marinated Chicken (which was good), Shrimp (which was disappointing, and not at all Asian tasting), and Java (which was also disappointing).
Overall, if you buy 4 tacos each taco is $ 2.50. You get two shells, and not enough flavor to compensate for the extra carbs. In Los Angeles, there are plenty of all meat, delicious tacos for $ 1.00-$ 1.25 with more meat, more flavor, and less shell. Considering the compensation, I don’t know why I would choose Komodo Truck.

I have heard about the Komodo Food Truck, but never tracked it down and tried it out. This truck was catered by a Unilocal Event and we were lucky enough to try their Tacos & Garlic Parmesan Fries.
They are so quick getting out the food and the tacos were nice and hot! The Garlic Parmesan Fries, not so much, at least mine were cold.
I ordered the Komodo 2.0 Taco (Seared Top Sirloin with Jalapeño Aioli & Southwest Corn Salad) — it was ON POINT, as my husband said. It was so good that I want to get another one soon! I also got the Soi Taco (Vegetarian Soy Tempeh & Tofu Salad w/​zesty Thai Peanut Dressing), it was pretty good. I think it could have used more dressing. My husband had the Komodo 2.0 and the Asian Marinated Chicken (Grilled Marinated Chicken w/​Stir-​Fried Rice & Mandarin Oranges). I really like their combination of ingredients for their tacos.
Komodo itself has a restaurant that I need to go to to and try the Truffle Fries, Crabcakes with Curry Aioli, Tuna Tartar with Avocado & Crispy Wonton. That’s another must try place… if it is as good as the truck, it will be excellent!
If you see this truck, stop and grab a bite. I definitely recommend the Komodo 2.0 taco if it is the only item you eat.

Learning that the Komodo Truck has a standing lunch parking spot right by my office, I will now be eating there often and with vigor.
Supposedly, there’s burritos here. And that’s rad. I love burritos.
But the star of this truck is easy the gourmet take on street tacos. I have had every single taco on here and I am not lying when I say they are ALL DELICIOUS. The Komodo 2.0, Java, Soi, Marinated Chicken. Seriously. Every one of them. In fact, my favorite is the Fish N’ Grapes, which is definitely the least traditional but has the best pay off.
Overkill or not, I always get the Garlic Fries, even if ithey’re just for me.

Yes I stuck my neck out YET AGAIN for a food truck, but this time it DIDN’T get chopped off!
It’s FOOD TRUCK WEDNESDAY and I’m nervous! Will I be sick for the remainder of the day or be SURPRIED by sheer genius cooking techniques. Will the food be tasteless? Will it fight to escape my tummy? Will it leave me wishing I had warmed up my own bath water because while it sounds gross it would have been better than the truck food? Or will the cooks actually have some FRICKIN talent? These are the questions that plague and hunt me every Food Truck Wednesday. How much will the tummy ache cost me today?
So we get the menu in an email and I go right to Unilocal for guidance! To see if it is worth my time and hard earned money! The menu was pretty simple with tacos that can be made into a burrito, meatballs, truffles fries, garlic fries and drinks. There tacos came in 6 different styles: Komodo 2.0, Asian Marinated chicken, Fish N’ Grapes, Soi, Blazin’ Shrimp, and Java. They even had some per-​planned meal deals:
Killer Combo — 4 tacos (any style)
Deadly Combo — 2 classic tacos, 1 truffle/​garlic fries, 1 soda for $ 10
Lethal Combo — 1 burrito, 1 taco, 1 soda for $ 10
I decided to go with the Killer combo and add on the meatballs. I figured I would get it and count my losses if it tasted like AZZ or at least have leftovers for dinner later because I certainly would not be able to finish it all if it was good!
So I get my food in record time! NICE… LOVE THAT! They were PREPARED and READY. I get back to my cave and commence to working and eating. I tried a meatball first! OMG! A BURST of FLAVOR in my mouth! I had a mini seizure! Eyes rolled back, eyelids shut, I think I was moaning out loud… OMG…can you say embarrassing? Those sounds should NOT be made in a work environment! So it has to be said it was SLAP YO MOMMA, YO DADDY, and YO GRANNY GOOD! Yes we are slappin grandma in the face this time, because it was so FRICKIN DELICIOUS! They must have some Old Italian grandmother chained to the stove back there because that meatball was ON POINT and NOT STORE BOUGHT!
I moved on to the Komodo 2.0 taco. BAM! SUPER YUM, YUM, YUMMY! JUICY seared top sirloin with jalapeño aioli & southwest corn salad on top! It was definitely a FRICKIN FIESTA with MARIACHI BAND in my mouth! Next was the Soi taco! It was ok. It had vegetarian soy tempeh & tofu salad with zesty Thai peanut dressing. I wish it had just a little MORE FLAVOR and MORE ZEST in the Thai dressing! Maybe a different dressing to add some ummf, a kick, a push or shove… something more! Next it was the Asian Marinated Chicken taco. It had grilled marinated chicken with stir-​fried rice and mandarin oranges. Can I get a WHAT, WHAT! YES it was the FRICKIN BOMB! And I inhaled it like a starving hostage! My last taco was the Fish N’ Grapes taco with deep fried Alaskan cod with fresh grape and roasted almond salad on top. It was GOOD! Not as much flavor as I wanted it to have! I liked the grapes in it and the lightness of it since it was fish! It didn’t have a ton of batter on it which was good so you could actually taste the fish! It WASN’T I GREASY NASTY cardiac in the taco shell! THANK THE LAWD! I think the grape/​almond salad was good but needed something tangy or zesty in it. The ONLY problem is that if it did it might have taken away from the fish itself. Tough call but it was GOOD! If you want something light then go for the fish or Soi!
They also have a blazin shrimp taco with spicy Singaporean shrimp and a Java taco with Indonesian shredded pork… whoa momma! How many countries was that on there menu? They DEFINATELY are an EQUAL OPPORTUNITY FOOD TRUCK! I would love to try those because they seem so interesting plus I LOVE Indonesian and Singaporean food, but YES it can singe a few layers of your tongue if it’s too spicy! I would also like to try there lychee lemonade, mango citrus and passion fruit green tea! I like different and this truck has JUST ENOUGH to keep me satisfied!
You are able to go to South America, and Asia and Italy all in one food truck! Now that is what I’m talkin’ about! VARIETY that works!
I would DEFINITELY go BACK to this truck or STOP if I saw it on the street! GOOD JOB! I ACTUALLY ENJOYED my food truck lunch! How often have you read me typing that?

I absolutely love this place. The food is so tasty! Some of my favorites:
1. Lychee lemonade
2. Truffle fries
3. Komodo steak bowl
4. The garlic shrimp
I order for everyone of course. Love all of their flavorful dishes.
I’ve never had food from a food truck as good as Kimodo’s! No wonder they have an actual location.

The presentation is nothing I’ve ever seen, especially from tacos from a food truck. Price is arguably high but hey, food trucks are often like that due to convenience. I empathize with high gas prices…
Once I upload my picture of the food, you will be compelled to try Komodo. It tastes as good as it looks.

This truck has some seriously awesome tacos. We got the Java, the Komodo 2.0, and 2 Fish ‘N Grapes. Cost was $ 10.
I noticed that some of the low reviews for for items that I DID NOT order, so take my recommendation at face value. The 4 taco combo is an excellent value, but pick wisely. There are 6 choices, of which I only tried 3.
The Komodo 2.0 (seared top sirloin with jalapeño aioli and southwest corn salad) had excellent flavor and was not to spicy. Watch for the corn salad falling out and on your shirt (ha).
The Java (Indonesian rendang shredded pork shoulder braised in coconut cream with fresh tomato and cucumber salad) is a little spicy (it’s got a pepper next to it), but the coconut cream tempers it a bit.
The best was the Fish N’ Grapes (deep fried Alaskan cod with fresh grape and roasted almonds salad). This was very refreshing and oh so good. I highly recommend.
If I encounter the Komodo Truck again during my travels, I will most assuredly stop and imbibe…

When it comes to food trucks, the tricky part isn’t figuring out what to get… it’s hunting them down! It’s even harder when you’re not from the area, but thank goodness for my friends. Not only was their wedding awesome, but they had the Komodo truck come by at the end of the night for some late night munchies. Now that’s how you end a wedding!
With it being «open bar» (truck?), it was awesome being able to choose whatever we wanted from their tacos and garlic fries. Unfortunately though, most of it wasn’t super impressive. The Komodo 2.0 (Top Sirloin with Jalapeño Aioli and Southwest Corn Salad) wasn’t very distinctive, good or bad, and the Java (Indonesian Rendang Shredded Pork Shoulder braised in Coconut Cream with Tomato and Cucumber) was only slightly better. It’s a shame too because the Java sounded so good!
While the Garlic Fries were fairly decent (mild garlic flavor, but pretty crispy), the Blazin Shrimp tacos were the best thing I had. Filled with Spicy Singaporean-​style Shrimp, Sour Cream Salad, and Cilantro, it definitely had some kick to it, but it was also the most flavorful of everything I tried (minus the cilantro… blech). At the same time though, it wasn’t phenomenal either.
Considering I didn’t have drive all over SoCal to find a food truck to try (on top of not having to pay), it’s hard for me to be too unhappy with what I had. Then again, I wouldn’t have minded exploring a little to find the Kogi truck I’ve heard so much about… assuming I didn’t get lost.
