Keren Lerner, MD

Dr. Lerner is hands down one of the best obstetricians in LA. She has a great bedside manner and is incredibly responsive to her patient’s needs. She is confident and skilled in the art of obstetrics. I highly recommend her if you are looking to deliver at Cedars.

Hands down best GYN ever! Caring, prompt and great follow up not to mention her awesome bed side manners and personality.

Dr. Lerner is the complete and perfect package! It is increasingly rare to find a physician who has it all… and she does! She is competent and trustworthy. I always felt comfortable that she knew exactly what was best for me and my baby during my pregnancy and delivery. She is also a phenomenal communicator and listens carefully and then speaks intelligently and in an open and honest way, yet still with compassion and kindness. She really seemed to «get» me and my husband and took our preferences, philosophies into consideration every step of the way. Because of this, I always felt that she was doing everything with our best interest in mind. I had the most ideal pregnancy and birth experience largely because of my relationship with her and her wonderful office staff. AND… in case all of that isn’t enough, we simply adore Dr. Lerner as a person. She has such a great bedside manner and really felt almost more like a friend toward the end of our pregnancy — makes sense… toward the end you see her every week (oh and then there is that whole she is part of the most important, meaningful moment of your life when delivering your baby…)…I can imagine no one better for this job! She is truly a gift to women, moms and babies! Thank you Dr. Lerner!

Dr. Lerner basically saved me and I will always remember, and always be so thankful for her helping me! Without her help I wouldn’t be in the good condition I am today. When I was about 19 years old I developed an ovarian cyst. At this time I was a part of UCLA and had a gynecologist with UCLA but he was also a part of St. Johns. He was an old A-​hole and He didn’t want to remove my ovarian cyst even though it was causing me extreme pain. It made absolutely no sense. The cyst stayed there for about two years. The pain got worst and worst and I had no choice but to be put on heavy duty pain meds because each time I would go thru ovulation the pain would be so severe that I’d collapse, be broken out into a severe sweat and be throwing up. NEVER in my life have I EVER dealt with pain that severe. I’m a pretty tough girl and it takes a lot of pain to get me to throw up or bring me down, I rarely ever throw up. I knew something was very wrong. UCLA was sick of dealing with my pain and I was sick of how they just ignored my issue. The pain was so severe that I was up to 312 lbs. I could barely leave my bed. Having fibromyalgia didn’t help the situation at all because my pain was amplified! The pain was so bad and no doctor was helping, I was absolutely frustrated! I finally decided when our insurance changed to switch to Cedar Sinai. By the grace of god I got keren lerner, the best Gynocologist EVER. I told her of my issue and she listened to me, she ran every test, and always kept in touch on the phone. She wasn’t going to stop until she found out the issue and made sure my pain stopped. She really made me feel like I mattered and that It wasn’t all in my head, I was really suffering. She really cared about me unlike that UCLA doctor. We also were wondering if I was dealing with endometeriosis as well, so keren lerner decided to go ahead and look inside thru my bellybutton for surgery, which that UCLA doc refused to do saying it wasn’t worth the risk. I had told him it was worth it, due to the level ⁹⁄₁₀ pain I dealt with daily. After my surgery with Keren we learned I didn’t have endometeriosis, but I surely had that Cyst on my ovary. When I woke up from surgery I was very anxious because I was very unsure if my pain would go away for good and the anesthesia made me nervous as well (bad side effect). keren lerner helped me feel comfortable and safe and assured me everything would be okay. She always put me at ease, I have anxiety, so I get worked up in a frenzy at times. I got pictures of my cyst after the surgery. I slowly started to heal after my surgery and my pain went away. No more collapsing and throwing up from severe pain, nausea, feeling like a knife was going thru me, no more drenched in sweat from pain, no more back pain, no more feeling like I was dying, and no more need for pain medicine!!! I was soooooooo happy!!! My family was very happy for me as well! I finally was able to be active again and get healthy and I lost 100lbs. now I work out 4x a week and am very healthy. no more needing quick takeout or just throwing a frozen dinner in the oven or microwave because I cant stand from the pain being so severe, I can now stand and cook healthy homecooked meals! and no more needing to stay in bed from that pain! I got my life back thanks to keren lerner and I will always be so greatful. She is so proud I lost weight and sees how much better I feel. She is an amazing knowledgeable doctor and I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone! she is a doctor who listens and truly, genuinely cares!

Love, love Dr. Lerner! She is great, attentive, sweet and very knowledgeable. She took care of me through my whole pregnancy, delivery and continues being my ObGYN. Truly cares about her patients. I truly recommend her!

If I could give this «doctor» one star I would.
First, she recommended that I changed birth control pills due to a history of breast cancer in my family which I was happy to do. The problem is that a year later when I discovered that my new pills had the same amount of estrogen, she completely forgot the reason for her recommendation and claimed the switch was recommended due to blood clots. This was extremely upsetting.
Next, she refused to refill my prescription for birth control, which I need for a medical condition and have been taking for 20 years, because I was not able to come in for an appointment.
What doctor refused a patient’s medication? Further, this «doctor» is very junior, has very little experience, has horrible bed side manner, and simply does not know what she’s doing.

Dr. Lerner is amazing! I had been looking for a gynecologist ever since I moved to the US and though others weren’t bad, I just didn’t feel as comfortable as I felt with Dr. Keren. She was super sweet, explained all what she was going to do, and gave me a lot of options to match the pill I was prescribed in my home country (which does not exist here in the US) with a similar pill here. Her staff was also very nice and professional.
I’ve seen in other posts that parking at Cedars-​Sinai can be expensive. I parked at the Beverly Center (they charge $ 1/​hour), got my coffee, and walked over.

After 20+ years with my last Gyno (Retired) I needed to find another doctor. I found Dr. Lerner. I made my appointment way in advance. Upon entering the office the day of my appointment, I was pleasantly surprised by the great appearance of the waiting room. Very clean and neat.
I was called in at my appointment time, the assistant was very pleasant. I waited maybe 5 minutes in the room for Dr. Lerner. She is young and has been associated with Cedars for 4 years. I asked my questions she had some straight forward answers. I got a great vibe from her and I believe this will be a long relationship.
She called me just now to give me the results of my PAP herself. I am impressed that she did not farm it out to one of her nurses. I will most certainly be seeing her next year for my annual.

I have been going to dr. Lerner for a few years now and recently had a baby. I have enjoyed my visits. She doesn’t practice defensive medicine, but evidence based medicine instead, which is what I prefer. She has always respected my concerns and ameliorated any fears I’ve had. She also has responded to my phone calls and called in prescriptions in a timely manner. The office itself is organized, clean, and staff is friendly. I would highly recommend her.

I’m completely shocked at the one stars! I’m sorry you had a bad experience, but I had a FABULOUS experience with her. She walked me through infertility and was so amazingly supportive when I miscarried my first pregnancy. After that I got pregnant again and she was a terrific doctor throughout my entire pregnancy. Yes, I did end up having a c-​section, but my baby was feet-​first breech so it wasn’t optional. I was terrified of the surgery and she was again so supportive and addressed all of my concerns. I felt totally safe in her hands and had a great recovery (and really quite a minimal scar all things considered). It’s thanks to her that we now have our beautiful daughter and I will be forever grateful. I hope to have more babies while under Dr. Lerner’s care. I have recommended her my friend who also went through the entire pregnancy with Dr. Lerner and loved her.

Wonderful and caring doctor with a great sense of humor. She’s also a straightforward lady with an uncanny resemblance to Anna Kendrick. You’ll love her!

Dr Lerner delivered my first and only baby. My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed our pregnancy with Dr Lerner and her staff. She was delightful and very informative. She was also supportive and answered all my crazy questions. If I have another baby there would only be one doctor I would select, and it’s Dr Lerner! I was a patient at her old office but I have visited the new building and it is just as nice. New office located on the Cedars campus.

NO! NO! NO! If I could give less than 1 star, I most definitely would! I have never written a review on Unilocal before, but my ridiculous experience compelled me to do so.
I was looking for a «woman» Dr. that was also an OB so that when I was ready to start a family, there would have already been a relationship established with someone who knew me and my medical history etc. I met Dr. Keren Lerner several years ago and thought, wow… she’s young, hip, straight forward, and is an OB. great! Little did I know that that would later translate into, wow… she’s inexperienced, immature/​careless, and can work on her soft skills…
Fast forward to last year when I was pregnant with my first child. This being my first pregnancy, the FIRST thing I asked her was if she was going to be around at my expected due date, which was ⁹⁄₃ (yes, I was estimated to labor on Labor Day). She looked at her schedule and said she had nothing planned and also told me she had just purchased a home, so that she would not be scheduling any vacations, any time soon. Look, I understand that things come up, we are human, so I asked her on 3 separate occasions if she would be there for the birth of my FIRST child, and she said yes. Meanwhile, I was researching natural, unmedicated births, as this was something that had always peaked my interest. I discussed this with Dr. Lerner and told her that I was wanting an unmedicated birth. She wasn’t completely unsupportive, but wasn’t completely on board either. She told me to have an open mind, which is totally fair, and also told me that she needed me fully energized when it came time to push, so to not knock the drugs and also that the «drugs were reallllly good» Seriously? But wtvr… Anyways, I gave her a pass and continued to go diligently to all my monthly checkups. I gave another pass when her assistant gave me the «oh really? (with lifted eyebrows) look when I told her that I was going au natural sans meds, then proceeded to tell me how good the drugs were. I gave her yet ANOTHER pass when she told me not to give her a written birth plan. Why a Dr. would not want something that stated your wants and wishes for one of the most significant moment in your life? Probably because it becomes a written document that she can potentially be held liable for, if not followed.
What did it for me, which is why I am writing this review is because at my 8 month check up, when I was in my 3^rd trimester, the final leg, as I sat in her office, she came in and proceeded to say…“So…I have some news, and I didn’t want to tell you last minute, but I booked a vacation 8÷31−9÷4 but this is your first pregnancy and statistically, most first pregancy’s aren’t on time, so there is a good chance I will still be able to deliver your baby.» UMMMMM… EXCUSE ME? YOU DIDN’T WANT TO TELL ME LAST MINUTE? I AM 8 MONTHS!!! This IS last minute! I then said, «Oh…ummm…I asked you on 3 separate occasions if you were going to be here and you said yes and that you didn’t have anything planned.» She then said, «Yes, I know and then I booked something and then looked and realized it was right when you were due!» O-​o Really? I think most working professionals, when scheduling a vacation, the first thing you look at and check is YOUR CALENDAR! This meant that she saw I was due, but booked vacation anyway. She then went on and on about how another Dr. in her practice was probably better suited for the type of unmedicated birth I wanted anyway, which did not make my husband I feel ANY better, but made us feel worse actually.
It seemed so pointless to build and establish a relationship with someone that was going to be performing one of the most significant, important task of our lives, to only have her then carelessly book a vacation because of her need to indulge in Labor Day festivities. Needless to say, I switched Dr.‘s and actually got an amazing midwife who shared my views on how I wanted to experience my birth. I had THE most AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, UNMEDICATED birth and have memories that I will cherish forever on how my gorgeous baby girl was brought into this world. Everything was PERFECT, no thanks to Dr. Lerner.
Some people need to learn the hard way, so thank you Unilocal for being a platform to voice my opinion in hopes that Keren Lerner better develops herself not only as a Dr. but as a human being. Also, to potentially help another future mommy make the right decision for herself and family :)

I’ve been to Dr. Lerner for my regular yearly exam and have had two pregnancy visits with her. I LOVE HER! She’s super easy to talk to, incredibly knowledgeable, listens to all my worries and questions and answers them without any judgement. Up until now I was terrified of pregnancy and Dr. Lerner helped put my fears at ease when we discussed pregnancy at my first appointment with her (the yearly exam) and then again at my first pregnancy visit. She’s a straight-​shooter with a great sense of humor which make for a great bed-​side manner. (As a small side note, I also really dread paps but Lerner makes them quick, easy, pain-​free — as good as they can get, really!)
I don’t agree at all with the 1-​star reviews below. I haven’t delivered a baby with her (or ever) yet, but so far she has given me a lot of confidence in listening to my body because pregnancy and delivery are natural! I can’t imagine her ‘pushing drugs.’ She doesn’t over-​medicalize things. And regarding parking — there’s some great street parking in the area near their new office on 3^rd St. :)
My friend recommended Dr. Lerner to me and now at least a half-​dozen of our friends go to her as well. I’m so grateful to have her as my doctor — I couldn’t imagine having anyone else!

Dr. Keren Lerner is beyond amazing. The office visits were great. As soon as I met her, I new that I had picked the right doctor for me.
She didn’t try to talk me into a c-​section (which happened with my first doc, and pregnancy), and seemed enthusiastic about me having a Vbac. She talked me through everything, listened to my concerns, and my fears.
Dr. Lerner was really easy to talk to and very knowledgeable. She takes her time with you during office visits, and you never feel that feeling of being rushed out!
I had my baby in November last year. Dr. Lerner was not on call, and went out of her way to stay with me. She was with me from the beginning, when I got to the hospital in labor, it took her about 30 min to get there. Checked on me every couple of hours. As soon as she checked me and told me I was ready to push, she stayed with me till the end.
A couple of students wanted to observe, and she sent them out. That was really comforting, to know that she was really protective of me. I had a Vbac, I was scared and didn’t know what to expect. All though there were complications that no one could predict (shoulder dystocia), She eased me through it, and kept me calm the whole time! I couldn’t have asked for a better doctor!

Dr. Lerner is an INCREDIBLE doctor. I was rotating around the office each visit to the different doctors not sure who to choose, once I met doctor Lerner I knew I had found my match. She was a straight shooter, so this may not be for everyone, but this is how I like my doctor. She is competent and really smart. She will tell you exactly what to expect and cuts through all the crap. I had a difficult delivery with some complications, and some of the on call interns were ready to put me right in the OR. Dr. Lerner told them that we were going to try our best to have a vaginal birth. She was very protective of me and what I needed and wanted. She was there for the entire birth. I’m not kidding when I say that she was holding a leg the whole time. I found out later from friends that this in not common in a delivery doctor. I was told that in many circumstances, the doctors get there, catch the baby, and leave. This was SO not the case here.
Dr. Lerner really cares about the integrity of the patient. She is extremely professional and I think she also has a great sense of humor. She always asks about my daughter during our yearly check ups and is very interested in what is new in our lives.

I just had my first visit with Dr. Lerner — such a wonderful doctor and office! The receptionists and nurses were all very friendly and welcoming (even at 8am). The biggest plus of this office visit is that I didn’t have to fill out a dozen forms before going into the office — Dr. Lerner asked me all of the standard questions herself, discussing things more in depth as I asked questions along the way. I learned a lot from this first exam, felt comforted and welcome by Dr. Lerner and her staff, and will definitely be going back!
The only reason I docked a star is the parking. The office doesn’t validate and the parking is expensive! I was there for about an hour and it was $ 8.75, and the parking lot only takes cash so I had to walk down the street to the ATM (I’m with BofA and there was only a citibank and chase so I got charged the $ 3 service fee as well). But other than parking, amazing office!

I didn’t care for Keren Lerner at all. If you are looking to have a natural birth I would not recommend her. I met with her once, close to my due date. When I told her I was trying for a natural birth she asked why would I want that… She said she didn’t understand why anyone wouldn’t want an epidural etc. Gee how about because your risk of fetal distress and complications go WAYYYY down without a ton of unnecessary interventions!!! A vaginal birth is much safer for the Mom and the baby. I know Cedars c-​section rate can be almost 40% on some nights. With doctors like Keren Lerner I’m not surprised.
Her pelvic exam was rough and it was the first time that I have had one were it actually hurt. I found her cold and condescending.
I told her that I didn’t want the routine piton injection after having the baby and she tried to talk me out of it. She said she wanted me to have the pitocin after the birth because otherwise it would be more work for her.. Thank god she wasn’t on rotation when I had my son… I found her arrogant and completely against a drug free birth.
I have a friend that was delivered by Dr. Lerner. My friend was told that the baby was too big to deliver and she needed a c-​section. The baby was 8 pounds!!! I can’t believe that she was talked into a completely unnecessary c-​section. How is it possible that an 8 pound baby is too big? Ridiculous.
Dr. Fung was wonderful and I’m so glad I had her instead of the arrogant, drug loving Keren Lerner.

First came to Dr. Lerner a week & a half ago doubled over with pain from a situation down below. My regular gyne, Dr. Ushigome, wasn’t available right away & Dr. Lerner happened to have a same day appt available.
Yes, she does look young. I did indeed ask her how old she was. She’s not baby-​faced, but looks younger than 35. Also, so stylish! But most importantly, she is so open & warm! I haven’t had that in a while & for this particular situation, it was oh so appreciated!
Once she examined me, she determined she’d have to lance & drain my cyst plus insert a balloon catheter. I was terrified, but she was excellent at allaying my fears. It wasn’t a pleasant situation at all, but her warm caring manner & explaining to me what she was doing before she proceeded to each step, made it go a lot better.
Went back last Friday for my follow up & her staff remembered me & commented on how pain free I looked in comparison to the last time. She was just as friendly this time as the first, & also talked to me in length about some other issues I’d been having & gave me some opinions on how she’d like to treat me. It was great to get another dr’s point of view & perspective & I can’t tell you how great she was/​is. Very impressive! I’m really thinking about switching over to her completely. A+ all the way!

I had a friend doctor deliver my first child and so when I got pregnant with my second and she couldn’t deliver I was really nervous. I went to the 99 N. La Cienega practice and began to visit each and every doctor so that I would be familiar with whomever was on call when I went into labor (as is the the practice for this practice). Around 8 months pregnant, I visited Dr. Lerner and was first very surprised by how young she looked! I thought, «If I weren’t pregnant, this is someone I could go out for drinks with!» That made me a bit nervous, but now I feel silly for judging so quickly. I LOVED Dr. Lerner. She was easy to talk to and very open to hearing my concerns and talking me through them. I stayed with her for the last 2 months of my pregnancy and she even delivered the baby when she wasn’t on call. My 6 week pp check up was nice (as nice as it could be!) and she was even great with my newborn son who I brought with me!
Overall she has a great bedside manner, very easy to talk to, very friendly and very knowledgeable. It was important for me to feel comfortable with my doctor and I have to say my experience with her was IDEAL! I would HIGHLY recommend her, and have to many friends!
