Jointly Maintained Christian Science Reading Rooms were established as early as 1936. They are located wherever the public can have access to Christian Science literature for purchase and reading. Many are located at airports, for the Los Angeles community, we are located in the beautiful Bonaventure Hotel where people from all over the world can have a place to study and pray in a quiet atmosphere. Christian Science was founded by Mary Baker Eddy in 1866 and Christian Scientists rely on spiritual healing to comfort and bless. However, the denomination is not doctrinal and its adherents may choose any treatment for healing that they feel is best for them.
