I just ate their steak sandwich and it was yummy. I have my steak sandwich with lots of onions and avocado pickles tomatoes and lettuce. I also ordered Fried mushrooms all that for under $ 10 been going here for well over 15 years never seems to disappoint. Keep up the good work and continue the tradition.

Ok so driving around LA I see various so called liquor store/delis but 99% it’s just liquor. Not Johnnies it actually still sells liquor and make sandwiches. I walk in I see this ancient menu on the wall thinking they no longer serve food but someone came out from the back and asked what I wanted. I went for nostalgia a bologna and cheese sandwich with everything. Guy was quick and rung me up for $ 3.70. It was a French roll sandwich about the size of a 6in sub from subway. I bite into it and it was being a kid again. The thing they threw me off was they used diced tomatoes. It was good since I did not bring my lunch in that day. So if you are looking for a beer and a bite come here. You can buy high gravity malt liquor in case you are on a real budget

Absolutely love Johnnie’s market and sandwiches hamburgers are homemade and I should have went there Today but there was a line as usual cold sandwiches and the four-way absolutely delicious sandwich are huge and relatively inexpensive four dollars for the biggest sub and as it’s a market you can get chips sodas and lottery tickets like I did today.

Can not beat the prices for sandwiches at Johnnies. I’ve been coming here for at least 25 years and still love the sandwiches. You can get a sub sandwich for under $ 4! Perfect sandwiches for the beach, theme park lunches, or even quick dinner. By the way, they also have burgers. Don’t get me wrong, I love troys across the street, but the hamburgers here are homemade and weigh at least a pound no joke.

A basic, grab your favorite 40, snack, and lucky scratcher liquor store ‘cept they also have a back kitchen to whip up a sandwich for you too. I came by mid-morning on a weekday and ended up ordering a pastrami sandwich. Only one guy was working so he was stationed at the register, chatting in Spanish with what seemed like regulars. It took him a little while for him to whip up my sandwich but no worries — the other customers were really chatty and gave me advice on raising children(my 2 month old girl was sleeping in her car seat). Forrest Y said the pastrami sandwich was decent and I was impressed by how inexpensive it was, especially for its size. No comparison to The Hat or any other specializes-in-pastrami joint but cute enough local liquor store, probably not a place I’d check out at night

Love this place, great store. They have the best sandwiches to take to the beach or have for lunch… family owned. An asset to the community… I grew up down the street and would always walk there to get a bag full of snacks.

In the early 90s when I was going to Wilson, I’d smoke out then head to Johnnies to buy a sandwich. Mr. Kim was sooo nice– still is. But anyway he’d sell us a sandwich for $ 1.00! Hahhahaha. Can’t beat that :)

Great local business that gives back to the local schools and parks in the area. In addition, provides a valuable service… Sub Sandwiches! You a litter ally grab a pastrami, chips, Zig Zags, Lotto Tickets, and a 40oz(in most malt liquors or domestic beers of your choice) for lunch. Thanks to the Kim Family for years of service to the community. I Unilocal the Hell out of this Place!

gosh, my pops started it all… he was the one who brought my brothers and I here when we were younger. fond memories of my pops driving us here after school getting lunch… devouring the steak sandwiches with fries and a pop or any drink we were craving. Mr. Kim, the owner and a family friend is AWESOME! he always sparks up a conversation when I’m there, very friendly and the service is great! anyways, there sammies are de-o-lish-cious and very affordable, especially during this craphole economy :). Tina P. is indeed correcto on the fried mushrooms and zucchini, heck everything on the menu is good. from the fries to the chicken salad sandwich. and the ranch/buttermilk sauce… oohhhh mmmmmm yummmm, i think it’s worth the button popping out of your pants. forget that IT’S WORTHIT! by the way, mr. kim is chinese and him and his wife are all about giving back to the community, which makes you definitely want to support this sandwich/grocery market that is in the heart of ELSERENO, not lincoln heights :)

High School Daze: I loved getting out of school early on those minimum and shortened days. This would be my stop because I love their steak sandwiches and deli in general. They make it right then and there. The fried zucchini and fried mushrooms are the best when dipped in their house special sauce. The sauce is like a thick, Ranch dressing, except there’s something unique and good about it. If it’s a lunch break, don’t be surprised to find teachers here either. And plus, the Koreans who run this place are so nice because they donate money every year to fund prospective college students from Wilson High School(my school). Stop in and you’ll notice plaques and thanks-you letters, and pictures hung up.
