«I am so happy to have found Dr. Feinstein. He is very easy to talk to yet astute, thorough and professional. He took the time to process not only my physical health, but my overall well being. I knew after my first visit that I had found my primary care doctor.
His staff is attentive and kind. Dr. Feinstein sits down with new patients to discuss their medical history and concerns instead of issuing pages of forms to be completed in the waiting room. I am a physician and as a physician I know who in the medical field is truly good and who isn’t. Fortunately for me, I work with some of the best gastroenterologists around. When I developed a GI issue of my own I ultimately chose to see Dr. Feinstein, (I know him, I felt comfortable with him) and my experience with him only confirmed how excellent he really is.
Believe it or not, when a physician takes care of a fellow physician, any sort of special treatment often amounts to bad medicine where the caretaker will say to the patient, «Tell me what you want (i.e., lab tests, medical procedures) and I’ll get it done for you,» essentially placing the care back in the hands of the patient. I quickly realized this was not going to be the case with Dr. Feinstein. I had already told him the short story of my symptoms. I assumed this would automatically lead to an upper and lower scope procedure. Instead, he took great care in taking a detailed history, asking a lot of questions and being careful to explain what he was thinking and why certain questions were being asked. I was genuinely impressed by his thoroughness, his vast medical knowledge and the amount of time he dedicated to me for what I thought might be a simple problem.
In the end, I felt confident in the care and advice I had received from Dr. Feinstein. If I can distill my experience with him (his professionalism, attentiveness, intelligence) into one overarching thought, it would be that I felt Dr. Feinstein was fully invested in me and in my health. Sometimes when you meet someone you wonder what motivates them and the work they do. Dr. Feinstein seems motivated to do the best for his patient.
He is a true gentleman and a gem of a doctor!

Dr. Joel Feinstein not only listens to your medical concerns but also spends whatever time necessary to figure out the cause of the problem and ways to solve it/​make you feel better. He personally knows many of the best doctors in LA and will gladly recommend the required specialist to suit your specific medical issue as appropriate. Beyond that, Dr. Feinstein is quite personable to the point of becoming your friend and your doctor… not sure which comes first as he always takes a personal interest in his patients. And of course, he is the best Gastroenterologist doctor in LA without question. He’s also the doctor my entire family relies on! It’s my pleasure to recommend him.

I found Dr. Feinstein by sorting through many different reviews and can say without a doubt that he is as good as they come. From the first visit, he demonstrated an intelligence that is often lost on doctors today, by not just assuming what was going on with me, but methodically and carefully, sifting through the facts of my medical history and then laying out a list of possible options that we were to begin exploring together.
I really appreciated the quality of his attention, his insight and time he was willing to provide to ensure that we were moving in the same direction and also for his almost encyclopedic knowledge and mastery of medicine, both conventional and alternative.
From the 1st meeting we had together, the dietary recommendations he gave, had made a significant impact in my quality of life. The bottom line is, he cares about his patients well being and you can tell that this man truly enjoys what he does for a living. We need more doctors like Dr. Feinstein.

Dr. Feinstein met with me and took the time to understand my medical /​family history prior to thoroughly explaining the colonoscopy process, preparation required and what I should expect following the procedure. He is very personable, friendly and knowledgeable. He put my mind completely at ease. I scheduled and had the procedure a couple weeks later. I must say, contrary to feedback I’ve gotten from others (who didn’t have Dr. Feinstein as their Dr.), the entire process was a breeze: The prep was extremely simple (I didn’t have to chug down a gallon of some gross concoction) and the actual procedure was really just a quick nap. Dr. Feinstein and all of the staff were phenomenal. If this is your first colonoscopy, Joel Feinstein is the doctor you should see.

This might be one of the best doctors I’ve ever met. I think Dr. Feinstein kept me out of the hospital, (in the best possible way) and for something that had nothing to do with why I was there. About 10 days before I’d come down with a sore throat that after about a week turned into head congestion. I’d been to a general doctor who’d said it was a virus, and I just had to let it pass, but I was in BAD shape by the time I saw Dr. Feinstein for my other issues. I really felt like hell. The doc eyed me, and said, this isn’t why you’re here, but let me take a look at you. He listened to my heart, and said, your heart is going about 110 beats a minute, why don’t you lie down. Then spent about 10 times longer checking me out than the earlier doc, and said, this is definitely not a virus, and you need to be on an antibiotic, and now. He also had some bloodwork done on me, and found my white blood cell count was 18,000. (Normal is 11,000.) He told me I wasn’t contagious, and I could, once again, hug my kids. He also called to check up on me.
He also was just as thorough and helpful about the other issues I was dealing with. If you’ve found this doc the way I did (through Unilocal) you’ve come to the right place, he’s great!

Dr. Feinstein is the best gastro doctor that I know of. My partner is a first year intern here in Los Angeles and talking to other physicians about the work this man has done with me has for sure impressed them, as doctors. He has spend a good amount of time to really get to the root of my issue. Not many doctors really do that anymore. My issue was pretty complex (as I’m sure most in the market for a good gastro doctor are in the boat) and he really covers all options and all the solutions in detail so you really are fully aware of your options.
I have been working with him for 3 months now and I’ve been seeing tons of relief with the recommendations from him, also not using any medications. I highly recommend Dr. Feinstein, he’s changed my life with many of his explanations about how my issue is different than anyone else’s issue. We all have different things happening and different things going on, it’s really profound to fully know and get to the root of what exactly is going on with you. I thank Dr. Feinstein for helping me get to the root of my issues. Forever grateful, if your searching, you found your guy.

Dr. Feinstein has a great bedside manner. On our first meeting, he spent a full hour with me, patiently explaining my condition to me and answering questions. I’m used to doctors rushing patients out the door, but Dr. Feinstein took the time to educate me on my issue, show me anatomical pictures, and even jot down notes for me. First class treatment, and really put me at my ease.

Dr. Joel Feinstein has been my FAMILY Gastroenterologist for over 20 years. He has performed colonoscopys on myself and four other members of my family some for two or three times. I am scheduled next week for another colonoscopy exam (last one was 8 years ago). I can say with total confidence that he is extremely knowledgable, efficient, caring, detail oriented, fair, reliable and honest. I have always recommended him to my family and friends. He is highly experienced and continuously keeps up with the latest research and technology and utilizes new knowledge when needed. With him I have total peace of mind.

This was my first colonoscopy and Dr. Feinstein was great. He discussed the procedure in detail and answered my many questions. Not only did he go over the procedure he educated me on the things I need to do in the future. Take responsibility, was his motive and I listen and incorporated that in my daily activity. He cared about the procedure and more importantly my future. His office staff was great as well as the staff at Linden where the procedure was handled. After the procedure he had a bedside presence to make sure I was alright. I will always remember our consultation which has educated me. A few days after the procedure I received a call from Dr. Feinstein as a follow up. I would highly recommend Dr. Feinstein to anyone who needs his services.

This was my 4th colonoscopy, my first with Dr. Feinstein, and by far the least annoying prep — he does really simplify it for the patient. He spends ample time before the procedure and contrary to others, I found his staff pleasant to deal with. He is also very pleasant and did a fine job. I had conscious sedation (which Anthem Blue Cross covers, not anethesia), and I was happily knocked out for the whole procedure. The Linden facility was fine and competent.

I think Dr. Feinstein is inept. I had a rather complex issue and he could not accurately diagnose it. Further, he had to take it in front of a board at CS. He then had to consult with other specialists. While he may be intelligent he certainly is not attuned to today’s medicine. He wrote a report and documented issues which had nothing to do with his field of specialty. He doesn’t respond in a timely fashion and his staff is rude beyond belief. My request of Dr. Feinstein was not inappropriate as he claims but was standard operating procedure. He made references in his documented report that were untrue, damaging and false. I would never recommend him. There are specialists in this field who are far more aware of «modern» procedures than this antiquated quack. I am actually reporting him for false claims to the California Medical Board unless he makes a decision to reverse his documented erroneous notes.

I knew I was in good hands almost as soon as I walked into Dr. Feinstein’s office. He is incredibly intuitive and knowledgeable and made it easy for me to honestly explain my long and frustrating medical history. He took the time for me to understand what is going on with my body and made sure all of my questions were answered and fears addressed. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

I went to Dr. Feinstein for a second opinion. I found him to be very caring, understanding and took considerable time to listen. I had anxiety issues which were affecting my stomach. He went into great detail and explanation of the pathology report from an endoscopy and colonoscopy from a previous doctor. He is extremely knowledgeable. I left his office feeling very comfortable with his opinion and treatment options. If you want a doctor with many years of experience and who really cares, this is the doctor for you.

I finally made up my mind that it was time to have my first colonoscopy. I have put it off for many years, being I am 69 years old. Dr. Feinstein explained the entire procedure to me as well as showing me pictures of the colon. His confidence, knowledge and personality put my concerns to rest. He recommends Prepopik, which is very easy to use with no discomfort. The entire prep was easy and painless. Colonscopy day arrived. The staff at the surgical center were so kind. The procedure was simple. When I woke up I was fine and had no after effects. Because of Dr. Feinstein, I will not hesitate to have the procedure again. I highly recommend Dr. Feinstein for any GI procedure.

What a great doctor! I’ve never written a Unilocal review before and I have no connection to Dr. Feinstein but I felt compelled to write a review because I had such a excellent experience with him. First, I’ve never met a doctor with such a nice personality. I think we chatted in his office for about forty minutes at my first visit. Being a super nervous first-​time dad, I thought I was developing with some serious stomach issues. Dr. Feinstein really took the time to figure out exactly what was troubling me. Thanks to him I’m feeling much better today. If you live in LA, and have GI problems, Dr. Feinstein is your man.

Today was my first visit to see Dr. Feinstein for a stomach issue. I’m one of those people who is not only scared of going to the doctor, but when I do go anxiety ensues. Dr. Feinstein calmed my anxiety with his stellar bedside manner and warm personality. He was beyond helpful with my GI issue as well the contributing factors to it. He conveyed the issues and potential treatments available in an easy to understand manner and his conservative approach put me at ease. Dr. Feinstein truly cared about me as a patient and a person. I’m sure he takes care of all his clients the same way. I highly recommend Dr. Feinstein for all GI related issues and needs. He’s not just a great GI doctor, he’s one of the best doctors I’ve ever interacted with and I’ve seen a lot. His staff was also friendly, courteous and got me into see him very quickly. A+ all the way around!

Dr. Feinstein is exceptional. I was recently referred to him for an endoscopy. I also chose to have a colonoscopy at the same time.
I had a thorough (quality) pre meeting with Dr. Feinstein and an even more thorough follow up meeting this Friday (8⁄2). Dr. Feinstein explained everything I needed to know in explicit detail. He was quite thorough and informative. I used another gastroenterologist 6 years ago for a similar procedure. It was a different experience not even close to what I witnessed with Dr. Feinstein.
I am so glad I found Dr. Feinstein. I will use him in the future with no question.
