This review is definitely long overdue! My husband and I did a lot of research and interviewed a lot of different photographers until we came across Joanne’s work online. I was truly blown away by how beautiful her photos are and after meeting with her we were convinced that we wanted to work with her. Joanne is extremely professional and easy to work with. As you approach the month of the wedding you find that you have so many questions and little details to sort through and Joanne was so great at having quick responses to all of my inquiries.
We did an engagement session first with Joanne and although I often tend to feel awkward in front of the camera Joanne definitely made both of us feel comfortable and gave us great feedback to work with. Our engagement photos were beautiful and we had a great assortment of photos to display at our wedding sign in table.
On our wedding day Joanne was quick and efficient with her time. You can really tell that she takes pride in her work and she is so dedicated to the whole day. When we saw our wedding day photos we were so happy with the way everything turned out. My friends and family were so impressed with how beautiful everything was. That day really flew by for me, so I was truly taken aback by how many special moments Joanne captured but I didn’t necessarily remember in full detail.
We also used Joanne’s photo booth option which was such a great hit with our guests! Everyone from the kids to the adults had a great time and her staff was so nice!
I highly recommend Joanne to anyone looking for a photographer for their wedding day! Go check out her online portfolio and prepare to be amazed!

Joanne is a true professional. Everyone compliments our wedding photos because she did such an amazing job. Our pictures came out so well, our venue selected our photos to be entered into a contest. She is very easy to work with and extremely pleasant. I would recommend her to anyone!

I would describe Joanne and her photography as ARTISTIC, STUNNING, VERSATILE, and just plain amazing! My husband and I have gotten so many compliments from all of our family and friends about our wedding pictures and I’m so happy to have had her as my photographer! She’s so talented and easy to work with. I wanted my wedding to have a romantic, whimsical, elegant feel to it and I sent her a couple of pictures over email of what I had in mind. She not only captured my wedding perfectly on the day of, but stylistically the pictures came out beyond expectations! It was exactly what I wanted and more. My friends and family have been to a couple of weddings before ours, and they came up to me after they saw my wedding album on Facebook and said she was the best they’ve seen so far (of course we already knew that — that’s why we hired her!)
Our engagement shoot turned out amazing too — I honestly think one of the best thing you can find in a photographer is one with an artistic eye — they can turn any moment and any scene into a beautiful one. We went 30 minutes over our contracted time at our engagement shoot but Joanne didn’t even mention it at all. She was so sweet and friendly, and she continued clicking away until we got all the shots we wanted. I’m so happy with her work and I would recommend her to anyone that’s looking for an amazing, talented photographer who listens and really cares about what you and what you want.

Joanne just shot my wedding on August 6^th and she was amazing! I will update when I see my pictures but she was so patient and wonderful all around! I love that she was involved in the wedding and had great ideas. She also was early and began taking pictures of my dress while I was having my makeup done. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer!

5 stars and more to Joanne! I was quite overwhelmed by the many things that needed to be planned for our wedding, which includes finding a good photographer. As an amateur photographer, photography was definitely not an area that I wanted to skimp on for our wedding.
As with all art forms, photography is very subjective, but when my husband and I first met with her, we really liked her artistic style and how she’s so down to earth. We’ve met photographers who are really stuffy and we couldn’t be happier with choosing Joanne. She definitely has some magical powers to make us look good in pictures.
She may be quiet, but she takes command when needed. I especially love how she is so meticulous and notices the slightest details. She is super easy to work with, asks for clarification when needed, and is super responsive. Weddings are stressful events, and you can most definitely count on her. She will not disappoint.
Joanne is highly recommended!

I just had wedding on the mountain couple wks ago. I was quite upset at the beginning of the wedding day because I really wanted to have outdoor wedding ceremony but the weather was unexpectedly cold, foggy and raining. So, I had to move my wedding to indoor which I was disappointed. Joanne noticed my feelings and offered an outdoor photoshoot after ceremony and reception. She was attentive and focused from the beginning to the end of the wedding ceremony and reception. After hours of photoshooting, I was worried that she might be too tired to do extra hour of outdoor photoshoot.
No! I was wrong! she showed true professionalism till the end of her work! She was so energetic and even humorous in cold and rain! She guided us to outside by the lake and forest and took another 1 – 2 hrs of rare and beautiful photos in fog. She really cheered us up while taking the picture in freezing cold! I can’t thank her more for making my dream come true. I really feel like I had my wedding outside because of the outdoor photoshoot. Her true professionalism and talent shined through the worst situation and turn it into the most memorable and beautiful moment!!!

Joanne is an exceptional photographer! She did an amazing job on our engagement and wedding photos. In addition to talented and artistic, she is responsive, smart, and calm.

I (DJ Ace) had the pleasure of working a wedding along side Joanne this past weekend at La Cañada Flintridge Country Club. From her exceptional equipment, and her awesome personality, I could already tell the bride and groom were in good hands even before I saw any of her work. Although she is very professional, and down to earth, what impressed me the most is her amazing photos. She has a very good eye for photography and her pictures are simply stunning. I only had a chance to see a few pictures, but what I saw has me amped and excited to see the rest. I am definitely going to recommend her to my future clients and look forward to working with her in the future.

Do yourself a favor — if Joanne’s free on your wedding day, hire her. It was by far the best decision we made for our wedding.
The first time my now-​husband and I met Joanne, we really liked her. What’s not to like? She’s wicked smart, with the Bostonian background to supplement, and her online portfolio and hard copy bound albums were spectacular. Joanne’s also laid back, and unlike other vendors, she doesn’t have a strong personality. (I liked that, because too much charm and gregariousness tends to make me feel like I’m being suckered out of tons of money.)
After we retained her, of course I had my familiar tinge of self-​doubt that made me wonder if perhaps I should have shelled out lots more money to capture what the wedding industry tells me is the
.ever, because her prices were so… reasonable. But once we got our engagement photos back, that put that to rest. Joanne captured us at SanMo during the peak of tourist season on a sweaty day and made it look fun.
On our wedding day, Joanne well exceeded my already high expectations and encapsulated the day remarkably. I agree with other reviewers; she’s super sneaky. Once we got our photos back (with impressively quick turnaround), we were amazed at the candid shots she got, many of which we didn’t even remember her being there for. We had a mixture of portraits and candids, and pictures that really make me remember the day fondly. We added the Monkey Booth photobooth, which was a great deal and also a hit with the guests.
Another nice thing about Joanne is that she can speak Cantonese. We didn’t realize that until later in our conversation with her. I had almost forgot that she was from HK until I heard her giving photo direction to our Canto-​speaking guests.
And finally, aside from her exceptional artistic talents (which is reason enough to book her ASAP), Joanne’s just a cool person in general. I’m more on the neurotic side, and Joanne has a calming presence that I think every bride should have on her wedding day, especially when things don’t go according to plan. I was never the marrying or event-​planning type, and now I almost want to throw more events just to have Joanne capture them.

Wow, we hired Joanne last year for our wedding and engagement photos. She was amazing. Every photo was epic. She was on time, patient, and fun to work with. Being an artist myself and my wife a designer we had high expectations. She surpassed all of them. Some people in the arts have natural talent and Joanne is no exception. She is a true artist and has talent that challenges photographers charging 10times her rates. We are truly blessed to have had worked with her and know we could have never done better. Get her while you can at these rates because she is bound to reach those higher levels soon.

first off, finding a photographer within our budget was no easy task. we weren’t asking for much, either. we were having a fairly large wedding (180 guests), but we were extremely laid back about everything.
a couple of emails later, i found joanne. thank goodness for her! she was able to work within our budget by editing the current packages offered and taking out all of the extras that we didn’t need. i booked her blindly, never actually meeting her or talking to her in person. i trusted Unilocal reviews alone and decided to go for it. a bold step, i know… but like i said, my husband and i were extremely carefree about our wedding.
we didn’t even meet her until a month before our wedding since we were living up north at the time. we had an engagement shoot at UCLA. joanne was very timely and professional. my husband and i are pretty awkward in front of the camera since we don’t take it very seriously, but she was able to work with us. she was very patient and we relied on her completely for direction since we didn’t know what the heck we were doing.
as for the day of the wedding, she came early and went straight to work. i didn’t even notice she was there for the whole day! that’s how good she was. she’s quiet and sneaky, jumping in to get the necessary shots and then floats around in the shadows for the night. you can tell right away that joanne’s a kind soul, and she was wonderful with all of the guests at the wedding. i appreciated her humble personality and her ability to joke around with us.
honestly, i cannot recommend her enough. she got wonderful candid photos from all of our guests and captured more than i even asked for. if i did it all over again, i’d still book joanne in a heartbeat.

Joanne shot a good friend’s wedding and her photos were beautiful. So when I was shopping for my own wedding photographer one year later, I knew I didn’t need to look far! Joanne is not only sweet and fairly priced, but also extremely talented! She shot our engagement shoot and made my nervous husband feel super comfortable! She was great to communicate with leading up to the wedding and was quick to answer any questions I had! Then at our wedding, she got there before I even showed up and already started taking pictures of the venue. She got all the shots that we wanted and they are more beautiful than I could have ever imagined! If you need a photographer, look no further than Joanne!

Joanne shot out wedding at SaddleRock Ranch in Malibu and we couldn’e be more pleased. She was really cool and friendly, making the picture taking before, during and after the even very comfortable. The guests hardly remembered even having their pictures taken, until we provided each with a copy of the amazing pics Joanne got of all the couples and their families.
Her style is so great. She can get formal shots, but what I really appreicated was her ability to capture the not posed moments, where everyone is glowing with happiness. Her pics of the enviroments and table settings are really great too, with beautiful light and colors.
The final surprise was that Joanne spent hours with us after the wedding exploring the area near the wedding for fun, cool, and totally unexpected pics. She found amazing locations and was clear in her direction for two complete amateurs like my wife and I. Joanne put us at ease, and it shows in the pics.
After the wedding, Joanne sent us some teaser pics, which was GREAT! Once we finally received the final pics, they were amazing, so well touched up, very natural, and an amazing pic from every part of the wedding and every person involved.
We give Joanne our full recommendation to all of our friends. The pics are a huge hit on facebook, lol. Joanne is really hip and cool, and easy to get along with. Her pics are as good as it gets. Her pricing was the best we found, and the quality was beyond anything we expected!!!

I hired Joanne for my engagement photos and wedding. I originally went with her because she offered great package deals and fit within my budget.
I can’t tell you how happy I am that I went with her. She is so easy to work with, flexible, and so understanding. She’s so nice and I love her calm personality.
During our engagement shoot, Joanne accidentally ran one of her legs into a cactus. She literally had a fist size cactus stuck in her leg. I thought we were going to have to do our engagement shoot later because we were going to have to take her to the hospital, but she let us pull it out and we kept going!
The day of the wedding, she arrived on time and went to work. She took photos of everything and all the little details we had at the wedding. She works fast and you do not have to wait months for your photos. She sent me preview photos from our wedding the following day.

One night not too long after my engagement, I was up burning the midnight oil and becoming increasingly overwhelmed with the thought of finding the right vendors for my wedding. So, I turned to Unilocal,and as fate would have it, I found Joanne.
I reached out to Joanne, knowing nothing about weddings or photography.
Her response was quick and professional.
There was also a ‘go-​getter’ vibe that shined through in her emails.
Joanne was so patient with us while we tried to find the right photographer.
We first did a phone interview, and then we met in person at a café so she could show us her portfolio and see if our personalities meshed. I am a bit shy so I didn’t open up as much when we first met, but Joanne’s patience and flexibility really made me comfortable, and I’m really glad that we found Joanne to take our photos.
Not only is Joanne a wonderful person to work with — she really customized our plan and worked with us on the terms we were comfortable with — but she is really talented. Our engagement photos and our wedding photos are so beautiful. We were amazed at the creative shots she took.
I was worried because our venue didn’t have a lot of natural lighting. But, she knew what she was doing and gave us some amazing shots.
I really really enjoyed working with Joanne and am almost sad that I’m not going to have another wedding, but will definitely contact her for any photography needs.

We learned about Joanne here on Unilocal!when we were trying to find a photographer for an engagement shoot. A few emails back and forth and we had a date set and a plan of three different shooting locations.
On the day of, she was incredible. She met us at our house so we could have a few photos taken with our beloved pup, then headed to the beach for a couple of hours. She brought a ton of ideas with her to add to our own, and on one of the busiest beach days of the year so far (holy tourists!) she was delightfully patient and calming. It felt like we were hanging out with a friend, not with a complete stranger snapping pics of us… We were hoping for a shot or two from each set-​up that we’d love, and at the end of the day we wound up with NINETY-​SIX favorites!
We can’t recommend Joanne enough, and we’re looking forward to her taking photos at our reception, as well!

Asking Joanne to be our photographer was definitely one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. She did both our engagement pictures and wedding pictures and they were amazing. She captured our intimate moments naturally, and the dramatic shots look like they were from a magazine.
She is professional, has a great eye for details and style, and easy to work with. Our wedding was close to 18 hours and she was there during the entire time, working tirelessly. My husband had to make her sit and eat something for dinner!
She really did some amazing things with the pictures. I am often self-​conscious when having my picture taken but that did not come across at all. Her pictures were a hit with our friends and family, who were oohing and aahing. This speaks to how her style appeals to everyone.

We were looking through 4 – 5 different photographers for our wedding and I’m glad I chose Joanne to shoot our wedding. Of all of the portfolios we looked at, we liked her clean style the most.
She did both our engagement and wedding shoot. Our engagement shoot, she was able to give us a few ideas (as we had ZERO ideas on what to do in our engagement shoot) and gently lead us all over the place.
She was a true trooper in our wedding and lasted all 15 hours of it. She didn’t even sit down to eat during the reception because I kept her busy shooting photos. Her pictures of us on our special day was amazing and we couldn’t be happier.
Her photo booth was a HUGE hit with my guests. They all loved the props she had and took many photos. I thought it was a nice touch to have a scrapbook to give me at the end of the wedding with everyone’s photos in it. Not only that, I got all the raw footage from the photo booth as well.

I found Joanne via Unilocal & Google. When I saw that she had less than 10 reviews that were all five stars, I was slightly worried because sometimes those five-​star reviews are all from the business’s friends, etc.
Well, I’m happy to inform you that I was wrong. The reviews are all really true. (I read all of them in preparation to write mine)
We hired Joanne as our wedding/​reception photographer and she was excellent. Joanne is extremely reliable, professional, responsive, punctual and pleasant to work with. She has a good work ethic and I could tell that she wants to do her best to make her clients happy. She takes direction very well, and also works well without any direction and can figure out your photography style through her interactions with you. I gave her very little direction because I honestly didn’t have a huge idea of what I wanted, but when I received the photos, I saw that they were exactly what I was looking for.
You know how some weddings are absolutely beautiful in real life (e.g., weddings in magazines that people spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on?). My wedding was definitely not that. It was a very informal event – a small wedding (about 20 people), on the beach, with picnic food and no extravagant decorations. Regardless, the photos turned out as beautiful as those in the wedding magazines. Joanne was able to capture everything in a way that made it look probably better than it did in person!
She is also flexible and willing to work with you to tailor a package that’s right for you. We didn’t take any engagement photos, and we didn’t need an album, so she worked with us so we could have everything we wanted and nothing that we didn’t.
I probably couldn’t express more how much I enjoyed working with Joanne. I would hire her in the future for other events and strongly recommend her to my friends who are getting married, or having any events that they want to get photographed.
