Incognito Tattoo

I have only been tattooed by Sara so far at Incognito, but my experience was fantastic! Sara is wildly talented and I will continue to go back to her because my tattoo is so incredibly well done — the detail and care she took is unparalleled and it healed beautifully. She was so professional and kind and patient when I requested she change my design a few times as well.
I really don’t think you can go wrong with this place. Incredibly talented artists and a small private atmosphere.

WOW time flies faster than the skin ink flows! Now four years after my last review and with over 100 hours of tattoo work by Jason Schroder over 11 years I felt it was time for a quick update. Jason is now a one man operation out of his comfortable Los Feliz studio. He decided to leave all the staff issues behind and concentrate on his work and run a «by appointment only» business. This is a quiet studio with no one walking in and out and you get to enjoy the true feeling of a private session with your artist. It’s is hard to say a great artist is even greater, but I will! He is also the easiest going guy you can work with. Always open to your ideas, but also will not put on something on you that does not meet his criteria for excellent work. His hourly rate is up there, but with quality work at a very fast pace it’s well worth it. Still the only tattoo artist I recommend to my friends and family…

Just got an inner arm piece done here yesterday, and the whole experance from start to finish has been nothing short of awesome. Jason was super awesome to work with and makes sure you get your tattoo just the way you want it. As for the price, Jason is quick and does quality work. He is totally worth it. I will definitely be going back to see him in a few months.

I got my first and second tattoos from Jason a few years ago and loved his work. I was young and naïve and he could have really taken advantage of that but he didn’t. With my first tattoo I was terrified and he was really cool about keeping me calm and distracting me :)

Mr. Incognito Tattoo has its branding down. The shoppe is the quaintest of tat parlors I’ve been to. It’s to tattoo parlors what Bottega Louie is to macarons. Jason, who provides «clean, gentle service» greeted me in such a way that made me feel unwelcome: 4 – 6 week wait list, large size tats only, $ 180/​hr., $ 200 min. Erm, I just wanted to look through the portfolios and discuss custom work. Then he referred me to Hugo, a French work abroad guest artist. He and I worked out a deal. He was nice and really fit. Told me to come back in about 3 hours. Fortunately, there were lots of vintage stores and cafes around the area. Went to Skylight Books on Vermont Ave and chatted with Chris about graphic novels. He helped me pick rather a rare find. Indeed! They also carry zines on consignment bases which I thought was pretty awesome. Then went over to That Jean Shop to touch base with Neta. She’s finally open! Around quarter to, I went back to the parlor. Then waited an hour and a half. Even with the adorkable décor and art books, I thought I’d go mad with boredom. Hugo wonked up the tat. Now I have to come up with a different scenario.

I do a shit ton of research before I get a tattoo. You’re not buying a kabob for crap’s sake. Unless you’re getting a kabob tattoo… That’s a different discussion. A sadder discussion.
I checked out Jason’s portfolio on the shop website. Immediately I was blown away by the wide variety of styles he’s done. That filled me with a lot of confidence, because you might wonder if what you’re asking for is outside of an artist’s range. I wonder. I always wonder. I have the blood of Woody Allen and Sandy Kofax and countless kindred neurophiles running through my veins. I just started wondering recently about the safety of food packaged with plastics and I haven’t had a solid night’s sleep in two weeks.
Oh yeah, the portfolio. I didn’t see an example of the exact style I was going for, but based on his obvious chops — his arsenal of awesomeness — I could tell Jason would pull it off with aplomb.
And of course the tattoo turned out exactly as I imagined and wanted. Better, even. Now I’ve got a go-​to artist in LA, and one less thing I can wonder about.
Did I mention Jason is super nice/​cool? Plus his shop has style for miles. Rating: five out of five kabobs.

Got my first and second tattoos here, by different people. The staff was helpful with design and placement tips, but not very personable. They didn’t make much of an effort to connect with me as a client, and spent the time tattooing talking to each other. I tried to join in that conversation and got shut out, so I pretty much sat in silence both times.
But the work was good and the shop was clean, so I can recommend them on those merits.

I’ll be back in a couple weeks finishing up a sleeve that already looks incredible.
Jason did my back piece that I’m as equally enamored with. Couldn’t be happier.
In addition to the awesome tattoo work, the shop is spic and span, with a great vibe… and a playlist that consists of nothing but the best: Jim Croce, Sabbath, Stevie Wonder…
If you request dubstep, you’re going to get charged double, as you should be.

My friend came here to get a simple tattoo.
Anyway, my friend’s tattoo was very simple… a small black silhouette of a butterfly which was well over $ 100. Really?! It barely took him any time!
Oh yeah and this place is creepy to me. I didn’t know where we were going because it looked like an apartment building… a quite apartment building. We were scared to see what would be behind those doors.

So very happy with it! Enough said!
Jason has 20 years of experience and if you want a more personable experience, you should probably go to him.

Jason just finished a piece on my arm that has been in the works for almost 10 years by another artist. The piece had ²⁄₃ sections completed but I didnt have the schedule to go to NY to get it completed. I have been looking for someone in LA for awhile who I was comfortable with.
Based on these reviews and his online portfolio, I decided to meet with him to go over the design. On top of having to sorta continue someone elses work, a good portion of it was cover-​up of another LA tattooist (not an artist).
Needless to say, Jason’s work was amazing. His portion of the cover-​up is almost flawless and only I can tell that there was something there before. His lines are clean and sharp while the shading is beautiful. He works fast and is super gentle with the needle. Healed in no-​time.
He is my guy for any future work.

This is actually a long-​overdue review for Jason, who did a large piece for me in the summer of 2008.
The piece was a small bunch of chrysanthemum flowers on my left side (extending across the rib cage). The linework was precise, coloring was smooth and perfectly blended, everything was just great. This is definitely my favorite piece out of the six I have collected so far in life.
The main reason why Incognito and Jason gets 5 stars from me is because not only is he extremely talented, but he is also very accommodating, gentle, and works at the speed of light. We actually had to finish my entire piece in just two sessions, because I was traveling a lot back and forth from NYC. He understood my scheduling difficulties, and managed to finish all the linework in the first session in just around 2 hours in the summer, and filled in all the color in the second session in about 3 hours the following winter. I was extremely happy with the results and grateful that he was able to work me into his busy schedule.
The prices here are a little high, but definitely not unreasonable. Jason charged me by the hour, like most good artists do for larger pieces. Every dollar I spent was absolutely worth it, I am honored to carry his work on my body and glad that he helped me immortalize the chrysanthemums that mean more than the world to me.

Went to Incognito last night for my first tattoo in a loooooong time. I was referred to Jason, by a friend whose work is extremely well done and amazing. Let’s just say, this place is great. Jason was super nice and very professional. I mentioned I was on a budget and sent him a pic of what I wanted and he made it a beautiful piece of art. His eye for detail and his perfectionism are evident. My friend who went with me was so impressed she is getting hers done on Friday! Once I heal up I will post up a pic!
PS There was another artist there, didn’t catch his name, working on another woman and his work was great too. Check out there website for pics of their work.

This review is for Zach Johnson. Zach did a tattoo on my back which included a previous tattoo I already had. He started work on it when he was still at Shogun in Pasadena, but finished it at Incognito. The experience was really great. Zach is very professional and very talented. I brought in photos and asked him to basically make the tattoo pop. A couple elements of the design were done from photographs (like a monarch butterfly and a hummingbird), but I also got a bunch of flowers added to it and he did those all freehand. My cousin also got a tattoo from him (some cherry blossoms) and it came out excellent as well. I would highly recommend Zach and the shop itself is clean, everyone is friendly and like other reviewers have said, no bullshit. Just great tattoos and talented artists. A++

All I gotta say is ask for Jason — he is kind and a helluva artist — and I’m in need of that back piece… let’s handle it… I saved up.

Incognito is a great shop! Very clean and relaxed. I’ve been tattooed by Adrian, Jason and Tyler, and every one of them is awesome. My most recent tattoo was by Tyler and he did a great job. He was super nice and he made me feel at ease.
From the moment you walk in you are greeted by a cute English girl who is super friendly and helpful. They all rule!!! Go to Incognito for a small walk in or a custom piece, they’re ll so talented you wont be disappointed. I Loves it!!!

I take back all the nice things I said about this place. I went in again recently, and not only have their attitudes become lame, but their prices have become outrageous too.
I was given a $ 250 dollar gift certificate there, and wen in to get some work done. I talked to some dude (tyler i think?) and he was beyond rude. He treated me like i was gum on his shoe. Mind you i have gotten work done there, and have a lot of work already, so i have some standards. Then, for a tattoo that should not have exceeded more than $ 200, he told me it was going to be over $ 400. It was clear he did not want my business, and, just to make him happy, ill be sure not to give it to him.
Its too bad, because most of the artists there are really talented. too bad talent doesnt give you an excuse to be a dick.

I had my first (& subsequent) tattoo (s) done here on a friend’s recommendation. He didn’t give me a specific name, so I just went in & took the first available appointment — Adam Forman, who no longer works here.
The consultation went really well; the image he designed for me was EXACTLY what I wanted. Upon walking in I was immediately impressed with how bright and clean the space appeared, & always enjoy watching them set up for their next session — they set everything up in front of you, so you can see with your own eyes how they open new packages and carefully wrap everything up. Some tattoo parlors that I’ve walked into out of curiosity made me feel uncomfortable; not this one. I felt right at home.
Adam did both myself and my friend, who had hers done right before me, and he chatted with both of us the entire time, making sure we were comfortable. When I returned for my second (& then third, which took 2 sessions) he remembered me and we practically picked up our conversations where they left off.
They require you to come in to make an appointment because they want to check your ID & make sure that you’re over 18, but the 2^nd time I went in I was making the appointment from NorCal & would only be in town for a few days, so I didn’t want to miss the slot. I asked them to verify with Adam that I’d been there before & that they had my ID on file, & he remembered the design (a pig & rabbit) so they okayed the appointment. I really appreciated their being flexible with me about that.
I’m sad that he’s not there anymore, because I really loved the shop & have been thinking about the next addition to my piece. At least he’s still in the area. & in any case, I highly recommend Incognito to anyone; I watched the other guys doing some work while I was there & was equally impressed with them. & they’re all really great guys. So yay Incognito!

Jason did my full back piece and I couldn’t be happier. Very clean shop, nice guys. Much more of a custom shop than a «walk in and get some crap out of a book» place. No commercial flash, only historic flash art so be prepared to get a consultation or walk in with what you want.
Great shop, great artists — this should be your tattoo shop.
