In Mode – Modern Home and Office Furniture

Fred is the MAN. I would definitely recommend him to anyone in the market for new furniture. He works with what you want and need and his prices are very reasonable.
We purchased everything for all of my design projects. new apartment from him. We are very pleased with them all.

Fred helped me custom design a U-​shaped table with an accommodating bookshelf along with plenty of work space for my business/​personal needs.
Fred walked me along the process of customizing a desk setup based off of my needs from work. He was patient in consulting me with choices of different wood colors, styles of attachments, and offered the best price possible while making sure my needs were met.
Fred even custom ordered a set of matte black handles for my desk (see pictures) and came to my house since the order came in late and some issues with the warehouse, he took full responsibility despite the fact and came to install them himself free of charge once they came in. He has a background on building and designing customized desks for all sorts of work. Make sure you see Fred when you come visit In Mode for all your personal/​business office needs/​wants. Will definitely recommend to family and friends in network.

This is a warning about their Barcelona chairs (and possibly relates to other chairs where the foundation is straps). They break VERY easily when people sit on them.
I bought two Barcelona chairs here years ago, and after about a month of use, the straps started breaking. My furniture repair guy said the straps that came with the chairs were made from a cardboard-​like material that was not durable (but is apparently very common with Barcelona chairs), so he replaced the broken straps with somewhat more durable straps. For years after that, only my cat was allowed to sit in the chairs, because I knew these chairs were not sturdy enough for humans. Finally someone came into my apartment and sat in a chair before I could warn her and *pop* — a strap broke. I’m sick of dealing with this, and plan to get rid of the chairs. What good are chairs if people can’t sit on them?
Update: I started to photograph my chairs in order to advertise them on Craigslist, and I found rust on the metal frames. I’ve never had indoor furniture rust before. I obviously don’t put water on the chair frames, but maybe some accidentally got on when I’ve wiped the cushions off? Or maybe the frame is just reacting to moisture in the air? I don’t know, but I don’t think indoor furniture should rust that easily. Because of the problems, these chairs were hard to sell and one thrift store even turned them down for free. I finally sold them for $ 25 each to an airbnb biz that said they know a lot about furniture and know a way to make the chairs usable. It’s been a sad experience, but maybe I can help others avoid what I’ve been through.
Response to business: Thank you for your response and apology. I will address your points.
First, I don’t know what you mean by you are «unclear» about my purchasing these chairs years ago and then having issues since with the straps breaking, being repaired, and then breaking again. What is unclear?
Second, the chairs were bought by an interior decorator I hired, so I don’t know if you told her about a warranty. She never told me about one. I obviously don’t know what your warranty says, but from what I’ve read on the internet, it sounds like usually warranties on these chairs only guarantee that they’ll give you new straps to replace the broken ones, and so if the straps weren’t durable to begin with, that wouldn’t really have helped.
Third, each of these chairs cost well over $ 1,000. I don’t know if that’s considered high or low end for In Mode, but I think for that price they should be usable as chairs.
Anyway, I don’t expect your store to do anything for me now — I just want other people warned about these chairs so they don’t go through what I did. These chairs sold from stores all over the country (not just In Mode) are breaking a lot on their owners. There are many stories like mine on the internet with these chairs from other stores, and furniture repair people I’ve talked to tell me they frequently see this problem. I think people buying this type of chair from any store need to be wary.

Ordered a piece of furniture and waited, waited waited waited and then finally called to find out it was out of stock. Thanks for the notice!!! Good thing i didn’t need that coffee table for anything. Like eating or putting my drinks, we love the empty living room look.

This is so far the best furniture store I have been to. I was having a crappy day, but when I walked in I was in heaven. I was looking for bar stools all over and thankfully I found this amazing place because they have a huge variety to choose from. I could have shopped for my entire house.
I also found a really nice wall art that compliments my salon. Robert was kind and helpful and got my order in two days and delivered. I am definitely going back.

A pleasant surprise. Needed some office chairs within a few days and called the showroom to make sure they had enough in stock before ordering. Robert was super helpful and suggested another style (since the one I originally wanted was not in stock in the quantity I needed). I actually liked the one he suggested more. Within hours (like 3 hrs later), I had 10 chairs delivered, assembled, and sitting in my office — 5 days before I had expected to find the chairs I was looking for in the first place. Really great customer service & expedited delivery. Chairs look good, and reasonably priced including shipping.
*Update! A year later and the chairs are still in great shape! I paid for similar chairs in my East Coast office online through a different vendor — but same style chair, and the wheels were broken off in 3 months. I halfway expected that these chairs from In Mode would be a bit flimsy as well since they were so reasonably priced and such, but they’re still holding up great!

I ordered a jewelry chest online for $ 1,200.00. When it arrived it didn’t even have lined drawers or any dividers for jewelry, just plain plywood drawers inside. For that kind of money it should serve the function for which it was marketed. This is NOT a jewelry chest. The guy that delivered it would not take it back so I called customer service. They said they cannot return it because it had been «assembled». Beyond frustrated, I physically took the thing back to the store. The «designer» told me that I should go to the Container Store to buy jewelry trays to put in it. She said further that if I bought a car and expected it to have power steering but it didn’t come with power steering I shouldn’t expect it. Seriously? A jewelry chest without jewelry dividers is more like a car without brakes or wheels. Anyway, they have the piece. The manager wasn’t in the store. So far, no one has called me back about my refund. I have taken it up with my credit card company. I would NEVER buy anything from In Mode again!

Bought a sectional leather sofa here from Fred. They were well informed and I was able to negotiate a good deal. Delivery was also smooth. Will go back in the future.

I had a great experience today with Mr Robert Baker. He was professional, listened to what my needs were, and was able to find me exactly what I was looking for. I definitely will be back for more beautiful furniture and professional service. Thank you Robert.

This is our favorite place when it comes to shopping for modern furniture. Great selections on office and living room furniture. My boyfriend and I have been shopping around for custom sofa & this place seems to have the best price and the best quality! Unfortunately, they didn’t have much varieties on outdoor furniture but if you see something you like in the catalog, they sure can order it for you right away. Service was excellent, very attentive staff.

I searched everywhere for a particular chair. I finally located it at In Mode and needed it yesterday. Robert actually came in on his day off to meet me and was able to give me a great discount since I was purchasing 6. He then took the time to search for lights even as my child bombarded him with question after question.
They have a huge selection in their showroom and are very honest about the quality. Look people, you get what you pay for and here you get a pretty darn good deal.
I can’t believe some people expect an employee to stop everything and follow them around the store. Uh? Take a look around, see what you like and then go ask questions. I personally don’t like someone breathing down my neck.

I should have known the reviews for this place was fake… most of it came from people who have less than 10 reviews. As someone else pointed out, the REAL reviews (the bad ones) get flagged by the store and it goes into the filtered section.
But oh my god. What horrible experience. I seriously got so stressed out about this place that I had a panic attack (seriously, I went to the emergency room and they prescribed me Ativan).
First off, I talked to Robert and he told me I would get my table and chairs delivered in 1 week. 10 days go by and I still haven’t received anything yet. I call in to ask about it and he tells me it’s on the way. After some more angry phone calls, I finally receive it after 3 weeks of my purchase.
The quality of the furniture here is grotesque. The color of my chairs looked nothing like the website or even their display model. I realized later that they put the brand name model in the store and they sell you the knock off version.
On top of that, the chair legs were slightly uneven. When I tried to return it, Robert told be «it’s supposed to be like that.» I chuckled when I heard that because I thought he was joking but I noticed he didn’t laugh and realized afterward that he was 100% serious… I think he truly believed that the chair legs were supposed to be uneven.
This place is bad in all aspects and I really hope it gets shut down soon before more people get scammed.

Service was poor. Bathroom had no toilet paper, no paper towels. Chair selection was extensive, except for ergo chairs, which is why I stopped by. Not impressed with the layout or energy of the place. Will not be back.

I purchased more stuff from them. They always give me a great discount on everything. This time I met the owner and he happened to be very nice.

5÷1÷13 — Double-​Star Update: I went back in after a friend’s recommendation. And, the guys there, especially Josh, were super nice and helpful. So, my first visit must have been on a bad day. Happy to give a place with such great finds a second chance. They still have the mirror so it’s meant to be. =).

I heard from the owners w/​an apology and offer to resolve the customer service issue. Adding a star for such courtesy. Unfortunately, they have lost my business as I found what I was looking for elsewhere.

My wife and I just got married back in December and we bought all new furniture for our new apartment from In Mode. I have to admit that the quality of our experience with this place fluctuated between 5 stars and 1 star over the course of the transaction from sale to delivery but I am confident to say that now that it is all over, I am happy to give this place 5 starts. Let me explain.
We bought a dining table, 6 dining chairs, a sectional, coffee table, king size bedframe w/​mattress, one nightstand initially, one more later, and a dresser. Andrew, the owner, helped us choose most of our furniture via catalog because most of the stuff in the showroom albeit hip and modern, was a little too hip for our taste (we wanted normal IKEA looking stuff). All in all, the stuff we picked out was perfect, especially our sectional. I love the sectional, and cannot stress this enough. My wife will tell you, I have a huge smile on my face every time I get home when I see this sectional in our living room.
Andrew was really helpful and friendly throughout the selection process. He has a very honest approach to selling and is willing to price match better offers. I price matched most of my furniture with him and am confident I got an ABSOLUTE STEAL from this place. He delivered everything except for the mattress by the next weekend. During the negotiation process, Andrew initially offered to thrown in a free mirror but due to inventory reasons, he couldn’t give it to me upon delivery. I asked him to take the price of the mirror off of an additional night stand and he agreed.
The mattress was promised to arrive in two weeks time. I got a call from Andrew a couple days after the first delivery and he told me he would have to replace the mattress that I bought with another one, «inventory issues» again. I was pretty skeptical and concerned since I had already paid cash upfront. On top of this, the mattress didn’t arrive in two weeks. I called them, and Andrew informed me that he would need another two weeks. This is where I was ready to blast a 1 star review. I asked Andrew to throw in the nightstand for free (remember I was just supposed to get the mirror’s value discounted). He reluctantly agreed and I held off of writing a bad review planning to see how the situation played out first.
In two weeks time, as promised, the mattress and extra nightstand arrived. The first thing I did was check the mattress «class» (don’t trust mattress names as most places change the names to prevent price matching) and looked online to see what it was worth. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I robbed Andrew blind on the mattress as the lowest price online was no where near as low as what I paid.
I am writing this 5 star review today because 1. Andrew was honest in swapping out the mattress as he gave me a better one in return at his loss 2. the sectional I got is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! I love this couch as much as a person could possibly love a couch without being insane, 3. I was able to price match everything, saving me time from dealing with multiple establishments, and giving me peace of mind knowing I got a great deal. I almost took away a star for the amount of time it took to get the mattress but since he gave me the nightstand for free as an apology, it doesn’t bother me in the least.
TLDR: I highly recommend In Mode for all your furniture needs!

Lots of great selection and designs. Prices do vary but they have a beautiful selection. Plenty of free parking.

I didn’t buy anything here, but I figured I’d chime in as I spent a good hour or so accompanying a couple of friends on a sofa hunt. The place should really have more reviews, as it is an excellent place to find sleek, comfortable furniture at a reasonable price point.
We browsed more than half a dozen furniture stores in one afternoon, and In Mode was one of our favorites. The aesthetic is modern and minimalist, with pops of color and interesting design elements. I was tempted to buy a tiny spherical chair contoured on top for a weary butt, and I spent time sitting on couches with retractable headrests and bubble chairs a la Standard Hotel. The selection is huge and largely affordable.
We were helped by a nice Korean man named Andrew, who walked us through an online catalog on top of advising on the pieces on the floor. Shopping at In Mode was a pleasurable experience, and I’ll keep it in mind for when my own furnishing needs arise.
