History

Established in 2012.

Hounds of the Hills was created by Daniel Feldman and Shan Ogdemli, Hollywood Hills residents since 1993. Both are lifelong animal lovers and pet owners. In 2008 Shan and Dan scaled down their design business and moved the studio into their Hollywood Hills home. They love being able to spend the day with their furry family members while working at home and going for hikes in the surrounding hills. So much so that they started offering their pet care services to neighbors and friends years ago. Now they divide their time between their 2 passions of illustration and art licensing and caring for animals.

I have never put my dogs in a kennel or pet hotel. Instead, I send my three princesses to Shan and Dan at Hounds of the Hills. They are awesome people, and my dogs LOVE it at their house. They are the only people I allow to care for my furkids, and as long as they do it I will never use anyone else. I know when I leave my three lab mix kids there that they will be loved, cared for and that they are safe. I never worry about them when they are with Shan and Dan.

Our pups LOVE their friends at Hounds of the Hills! Whenever we leave town or need to drop our two high maintenance pups off for doggy daycare, the staff at Hounds of the Hills has got it covered; they never disappoint. Loving, caring, safe, personable, attentive and just all around fun describes the environment at their facility. Our dogs are always relaxed and happy when we pick them up. Sometimes I wonder if our pups prefer them over us (ha, ha!). Trust me, you can’t go wrong with Hounds of the Hills. Seriously. I am so protective of our pups and I am at complete ease when I leave them there and they are always calm and content when we pick them up. Stressed? No way. I can’t recommend them enough.

Shan and Danny truly make a Home Away From Home, for your best friend. After trying numerous other doggy day care facilities with mostly indoor play areas or worse, crates during nap time, we are so happy to see our 2 dogs always «arrive» with a smile. Seriously our 2 huskies always would love to go play with their new and old friends.
Knowing that they get 1 or 2 extended walks during the day, and are cared for day and night by the owners of the business, we are thrilled as much as our dogs to use Hounds of the Hills. I completely recommend anyone to use them for day or overnights.

Living in the area of where they are located, it is so convenient to drop off my two dogs. And so comforting to know that they are in such good hands and always have other dogs to get to know and play with! You certainly should give them a try and see
for yourself. Your dogs and cats will surely thank you!

If you live in or around the Hollywood Hills and you have a dog, Dan and Shan of Hounds Of The Hills are the place to take ‘em! They’re amazing. 100% reliable! Dogs and their owners all love what they get from them. They’re there rain or shine, night or day whenever you need them. Whether it’s just walks or onsite daycare, I can’t recommend anyone more. I’ve tried others, but won’t ever need to again as long as they’re in business. My dog waits by the door with baited breath every day for them to show up. It’s love, love, love all around!

It is so nice to be able to travel — for a weekend or a month — and be secure that our pet is weathering our absence in style and comfort, thanks to Shan and Dan.
It’s not just the basics, but their love and empathy with animals that keeps our kitty, Lily, so entertained and engaged that, upon our return, we don’t have to suffer that «Look» we can get when she wants to say, «And where have YOU been?»
Their service has made all the difference between hiring Flaky Kids of Well-​Meaning Friends, or the Too-​Busy-​To-​Do-​Anything-​But-​Change-​The-​Water Hysterical Types. Or family (always the most expensive, whether money is involved or not).
Shan and Dan are dependable, flexible, caring and efficient — which makes me jealous because I don’t think anyone would describe me like that. So don’t call me. Call Shan and Dan!

Hounds in the Hills has been a terrific find! Shan and Dan treat my dog as if she is one of the family. She loves playing with the other dogs, and comes home exhausted from her hikes in the hills!
From the minute you meet them, you know they are «dog people» and really make my pup feel loved and feel special. But not only do they make my dog happy, they are also just great people. They are very flexible with my erratic schedule, and accommodating if I need last minute help.
I don’t know what I’d do without them!
