I just realized I never reviewed Hazel Blue Studios. I first tried Thea’s yoga class 2 years ago(I think). I love her class, but haven’t been in a while, because — No reason, I guess. I should be going. I always left feeling kinda woozy and buzzed from relaxation, stretchy-ness, and bendy-ness. Bonus, she’s lovely, funny and a great teacher. So there.

There are many things I appreciate about Thea’s approach to yoga: –She creates a fun, non-competitive environment. –She’s very in tune with the individuals in the room, and the flow of the session reflects the preferences of the people attending any given class and their needs at the time. –There’s a lot of variety. We’re not doing the same old thing every week. –There’s no judgement of our bodies, nor body disparagement(from either Thea or folks attending her classes). –Class sizes are small, so she’s able to provide us with a lot of personal attention. –Best of all, Thea specializes in modifications for people of different shapes, sizes, and abilities. When I walk in the room with joint pain or muscle strain, I know that Thea will help me find a way to honor my body, just as it is, in that moment. Thanks, Thea! So happy I found you.

What I love about Thea’s teaching style is that yoga is for EVERYONE. Trained and certified as a curvy yoga teacher(among many other certifications), Thea promotes well being by using yoga as a body positive tool. Her classes are restorative, challenging, encouraging and most importantly, the girl knows how to have fun. Just a warning, her classes are addictive.

Who knew that Curvy Yoga exists for us who aren’t built like jointed sticks? I am so happy I discovered the Curvy Yoga class at Hazel Blue Studios. Teacher Thea was perfect – kind, funny, respectful, and nudgy. I loved the class and the fact that I was with other people built like me, all of us enjoying the exercise and the nice, meditative qualities of yoga. Highly recommend! It’s a tiny studio and you enter it from the back street.
