My experience here was not good at all. My regular hairstylist was on vacation so I decided to come here to get some light trimming done. I won’t get into the fact that a hairstylist by the name MS. SHIN totally messed it up to the point where my regular hairstylist had to bail me out and fix it(how do you not get a simple trim right?! totally ruined my layers), but the people there were SO rude. Not only was Ms. Shin condescending and flippant about my visit — even the owner left MUCH to be desired for. When I told them who I got my hair done from(they asked), the jealousy started to cloud over their face as they started talking badly about her in front of the other customers. OKAY. I can see why you would deign to say something like that if *you* were actually a good stylist. I know this is a business and there’s competition and all but please do not go about acting unprofessionally by mouthing off about other stylist who are 237489237423874336 times better than you when you can’t even TRIMHAIR! These ladies were SO catty. My goodness, I really just wanted them to be quiet. I wish I had a magazine to read or something. When they realized I would most likely go back to my hairstylist when she gets back from vacation, they treated me as if I was a one-time customer and as such, with much attitude. I guess if they thought I’d switch over, they’d treat me better to keep me around. They didn’t seem that offensive when I told them what I do and they saw me wearing brand name clothing. Please don’t be like that to your customers. You have to treat them like they are going to be repeat customers for them to BECOME repeat customers. Don’t you know women in their late twenties and thirties have a bullshit-o-meter that’s EXTREMELY keen on going off if you let your real attitude and personality show for even a second? I am never going back. Next time my hair stylist is on vacation, I am just going to wait it out instead of trying other places because so far, everyone has been a REALLY experience. I’ll stick to you forever, Tina!

I know that this place has gotten a bad rap, but of all the times I’ve been here, I’ve had a good experience and have left loving my hair! I live in San Diego, and I literally drive up all the way here to get my haircut. Grace is not your typical hairstylist, but she is my go-to girl! I don’t let anyone else touch my hair except her. Yeah, she is kinda quirky, but you have to just trust her because she really knows what’s best for your hair. Whenever I just let her do her thing, I always get compliments on my haircut! Yeah, she cuts kind of funny. Sometimes it seems like she’s just grabbing random bunches of hair and cutting, but she is so meticulous and checks every layer. Yeah, she squats on the floor and cuts, makes you bend your head over upside down and cuts, but the results are amazing! The only reason you’ll end up with a bad cut is if you don’t trust her. She will stop and answer her cellphone in the middle of cutting your hair, or make you blowdry your hair yourself, so I can see where people can get turned off. It doesn’t bother me though, to me it’s kind of funny. I know that they do great straight perms here, my mom and sister always get theirs done here. However, I do not recommend getting any type of curl perm here. I saw one lady leave with an afro! And I don’t think that’s what she wanted. $ 35 + tip for everything(shampoo, cut, blowdry, and flat iron). Good deal!

No matter what you do, stay away from a stylist here named«Grace». I don’t often leave reviews like this and I don’t mean to be mean but she is seriously the worst hair stylist I have met in my entire life. She is not a bad person per se… but she is just not too good at what she does. When I was there, she totally butchered my hair(I asked for a 4 inch trim… instead she chopped off my hair so when I put my hair up in a pony tail, I would have to wrap the pony tail holder around many many many times… my pony tail would have no hair… no pony would have a tail like that… *sob* *sob*) Luckily, that was many months ago and I have since recovered from this tragic and traumatic incident. Oh she is also somewhat ditzy… when she dropped her scissor, she bent to pick it up while still holding a handful of my hair(before she cut it all off –_-) in her left hand…

3rd floor in Koreatown Plaza. I came here on a whim with my sister after doing some grocery shopping at the Korean market downstairs. Her hair was extra long and needed a trim, so instead of making an appointment and waiting another day or so for a haircut at MyStylist on Wilshire(my favorite hair place in Ktown by far), we decided to stop in at Hair Time. There was only one other customer in the place when we walked in, and we were quoted $ 25 for a cut.(side note: the hairdressers only spoke Korean). I just assumed that this included wash, cut, and dry because MyStylist will do it all(and very well) for $ 30. It turns out $ 25 will only get you a cut, pushy ajummas, some rude comments, and a not so great haircut. First of all, my sister told her hair stylist ajumma that she only wanted 3 inches cut off. The ajumma told her that it would be very ugly if she didn’t cut more off her hair and kept trying to push over and over again to cut more off. We didn’t budge. So instead of listening to what sister wanted, the ajumma proceeded to chop off 6 inches in angles from the front and 4 in the back, which ended up being quite lopsided. I have never ever seen anyone cut hair like that. She straight ironed it as flat as she could, crouched down behind my sister’s chair, pushed my sister’s hair flat against her back, tried to eyeball it, and then cut across the whole bottom section in 4 swift chops. I pointed out to her that it was very crooked, and she tried to even it out the best that she could. The next thing my sister knew, the ajumma was taking thinning razors to her hair and going crazy. My sister asked her to stop because she did not want her hair thinned out, and the ajumma replied: «Ok. If that is what you want then fine. But it will be very ugly. So I guess you don’t want to look pretty.» While this was all happening to my sister, I was seated next to her getting a $ 5 trim on my hair bangs. You really can’t beat $ 5, but then again I would have much rather had a $ 5 patbingsoo downstairs instead of the trim I got. The second hairstylist ajumma also told me that my hair bangs made my face look ugly and wanted to style them her own way. I refused to let her style my hair the way she wanted, but I still came out with crooked bangs. She also cut hair the exact way the other hairstylist did(straight iron first and then straight against my face). It really seemed like this place trained a few middle-aged Korean women to cut hair in the morning, and my sister and I were their first experiments that afternoon. I do not recommend this place at all.

this is the only place i would get a haircut. for 40 bucks its seriously a great deal. that 40 bucks comes with shampoo and conditioning, head massage, haircut, blowdry and styling. i love all the hairdressers here they are amazingly nice and they always cut my hair perfectly. everytime i get my hair done here everyone always compliments me. when i moved 250 mi. north of los angeles, i would take a trip here at least every 2 mo. just to get a haircut, that is how loyal iam and that is AMAZING they are. i dont really care for the décor or the ambience of a salon all i care about is great hair, so if your looking for that, this place is a must see.
