I pre-ordered Ratchet and Clank from another location. After 72 they sold it because I had failed to pay it off and pick it up. I was instructed to call Game Stop at The Plant(7900 Van Nuys Blvd), and ask them to hold a copy for me. I did and spoke with the other associate working that day. I explained the situation and told him I’d arrive within the hour. I arrived and spoke with Edgar. I explained the situation, handed him my pay off receipt, from the 1st store, explained that it was after 72 hours and the other store sold my copy. I also explained that I just finished paying it off. Edgar calls the other store to confirm as I’m sure is standard procedure and to get them to transfer the preorder from their store to his. Edgar calls and asks the employee to look it up, not to transfer the game, but to verify that I’m not trying to steal or get a free copy of the game as he told the employee on the phone. This all happened right in front of me. To accuse a customer of theft to their face is very unprofessional especially when you have nothing to base it on, other than the way I look. I was appalled, and explained to him, I am not trying to steal a game. My receipt shows I just paid for it at one store! He could have asked the same question in a much more respectful way. As I am waiting to check out and Edgar is still on the phone with the employee from the other store(The person on the other end of the phone, had worked with him before, or at least knew him based on the conversation) Edgar begins to gossip about pay of other employees, and how«so and so» was fired, because she was a headache asking for a raise, and her boss didn’t want to give her one. The whole experience was ridiculously unprofessional and I will never return to this GameStop! I feel bad for the other employee working that night he was very respectful and apologetic. I’ve been shopping at game stop for over close to 15 years and have never been so turned off by a customer service experience. Very poor customer service.
