Returning from our Griffith Park adventures, my daughter took us to 20th Century Fox Studios in Century City. With her«Drive-on» pass we entered the grounds parking near the Simpsons Building. This was exciting. First we walked around the various building sets and checked the plaques which list what movies were filmed in what studios. Then we drove around the attractive grounds. We saw just about everything to see as if we were the only ones on the grounds. Got some nice photos of what few people ever get to see. Thank you darling. This was definitely a «Hollywood» moment! Our school hosted a welcome reception for new students last night at one of Fox Studio’s outdoor locations. We were out on the grass, but thankfully ladies in heels didn’t sink into moist soil. There was this really neat, tall hedge that was artfully clipped to have two smiling theater masks show through. Open bars were set up at either end of the terrace serving, beer, wine, water, and soft drinks. I think the school was in charge of decorating for the event, but the studios provided tables and chairs, the sound system, and the food. Caterers, provided through Fox Studios, brought around trays of their hot items, such as marinated chicken skewers, beef skewers, mini pizzas, and tiny crab cakes. There was a huge spread of cubed cheeses with nuts, breads, and figs. Another table had a ton of veggies and dipping sauces. Of course there was a table with cookies, brownies, lemon bars, and the like. There was a sound system, for music to be played, and everyone seemed to have a good time mingling. There wasn’t a lot of light for evening events out there, but thankfully on a summer night, it didn’t get really dark until it was time for the event to end. The only thing I didn’t really like was that the area where we were wasn’t enclosed, so people were constantly walking by, and anyone could have joined us without being hassled by security. Nice for get togethers, probably would be great if they allowed live music.
