Lessons with Mike Papagni are focused on fluency in subdivisions, technique, and general understanding and communicating in music. His goal is to get students playing on the drum set immediately and gain an understanding of rhythm to get them playing music from the moment they sit down at the kit.

History

Established in 2003.

Mike has been teaching drums and percussion for over 12 years. He’s been the head drum instructor at Yamaha Music School and Ventura County Music Studios where he taught numerous students of all ages and backgrounds. He has his bachelors of music from Musicians Institute. He specializes in both individual and group lessons. Contact him for a quote!

Business Owner

Mike Papagni was born in San Jose, California on November 2^nd, 1983. At age 4, his family moved to Ventura, California which is where he first became interested in music. Music has always been a huge artistic influence on him from growing up in a house with a very music loving family. At the age of 14 is when his interest in drums first began to sprout, learning beats here and fills there on friends’ drum sets. Within 3 months he was playing with various bands and playing gigs around town. After high school, he attended Musicians Institute’s P.I.T. (Percussion Institute of Technology) program. It did not satisfy his thirst for knowledge, so he moved back home and began work on a Bachelor’s Degree at Ventura College, while practicing and digesting all that he had learned. He returned to Musicians Institute and received his Bachelor’s of Music degree in 2009. He is now performing, composing, and teaching in the Los Angeles area, where he is making a name for himself.
