The nurses are nice, but the doctors are idiots. My eye was swollen and they told me the tear duct was a zit. Luckily, I know what a tear duct is and I went to get a second opinion. My tea duct was infected and I could have lost the eye. NEVER GO TO THESE INCOMPETENT PEOPLE!!!

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Van Tasell. I have had previous trauma (I will leave it at that due to privacy) and Dr. Van Tasell is one of the most down to earth, kind and compasionate medical providers that I have encountered in a long time. He takes the time to put you at ease and is highly knowledgable and skilled at what he does. I feel comfortable talking to him about my medical needs and I feel that I am receiving outstanding care. I work in the mental health field along side medical providers and feel that finding a MD with his kind of compassion puts him in the ‘rare breed’ category (out of fairness, this is often due to time constraints [and training]). If you want a warm, kind and highly skilled medical provider, then I highly recommend Dr. Van Tasell.

I’ve come here for years! Dr. Van Tassel always makes me smile and always makes me feel better quickly. he’s direct and to the point and you have fun while you’re there. I don’t do well with Doctors and hospitals and all of that stuff, but I can say I don’t dread a visit to Dr. Van Tassel. I’ve never had to wait that long and I love not having to make an appointment!

Doctor Van Tassel sucks. This place is horrible. You wait for about two hours each time. It is the second time I have to bring mine because they lost the previous one. A consultation last about 35 seconds top. Today, because it was near 5 PM, my consultation lasted for 10 seconds. A record. I came there with several issues (an eye issue and sore throat) and I hardly had time to mention two of them, the doctor rushed me out! I had to ask them to see him again and he was like «oh I had no idea you had sore throat» — well, yeah duh, in 10 seconds I didn’t have time to tell you. Then he tried to send me to another doctor which would be out of pocket so I can’t go.
Basically if you go there, it’s because it is a place that accepts Covered California, and guess what, if you are with Covered California, it’s because you are broke, so don’t sent me elsewhere. I WISH I could go elsewhere but I have no choice. I loathe this place. The doctors are unprofessional and barely take a minute for you (even when there is no one in the waiting room) and the staff is always rude too — cherry on the cake.

I would give this place a 0 star if I could the whole waiting frame time was so ridiculous I called prior my arrival time the receptionist said it was about 30 minutes and indeed she processed me in no time but the wait after that was tooooooo long well to make a long story short I waited literally 3 hrs and 30 minutes not even at the ER people wait that long «SUCKS» (VERY DISAPPOINTED) never again I’m coming back.

I don’t know how people consider this is place to be medical help. Staff was rude, was told that there was no wait time. When I got there I waited 1 ½ just for the doctor to walk in. I broke my ankle knowing that From the start since I work in the medical field. I asked if the X-​ray can be taken while I wait, I was told not until they get a doctors order. I asked so get one while I wait painfully. Finally the doc came and ordered after 2 hrs, surely enough with a big ankle and a bruise it was broken. Another ½ hr goes by and I was sent home with no protection on my leg and was told to stay off of it. What the f… Is it some century I’m not aware of that you leave the doc’s office with no cast no splint no boot. HELLO??? And on top it all I was charged for office visit and x-​rays of $$$$. Tells me go to a medical supply and get a can boot after 5pm when all places where already closed. if you have something broken, don’t waist ur money or time. Oh and believe will definitely talk to my insurance company never the less to other departments.

Dr. Van Tasell is awesome. He is exceptional actually. He knows his stuff and is so kind. He really puts patients at ease. Highly recommend!

These guys are great. They will see you if your regular doctor can’t and will prescribe you they medicines you need if you have chronic conditions. In my case it’s asthma. Some times I need refills for my medications and don’t have the time to take hours at my regular doctors office. These guys are fast, professional, and knowledgeable. I always try to see Dr. Jaffe. He is great and makes me feel comfortable.

Best clinic I have been to in LA. The staff was SUPER friendly and nice. Everyone there was working so hard and although the clinic was busy with patients I didn’t have to wait long at all. They were extremely efficient and professional the whole time. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly, knowledgable and personable. Which is exactly what I want from a doctors visit. I just had a check up for a work trip but i plan in going here for my future ailments! I have found my new favorite clinic!

I was assigned Dr. Van Tassel as my PCP with my old insurance, and came in for some general concerns. I found him very attentive and helpful. There was almost no wait, and the staff was friendly. Plus, it is very close to my house. Recently, I came down with a very bad case of strep, and could not find an appointment with doctor who accepts my new insurance, everyone had at least a week wait. I came back to Dr. Van Tassel, I was seen immediately, and he had me feeling much better by the following day. Great doctor, I only wish they accepted my current insurance so I could continue coming here!

Over the past year, each visit to Citizens Medical Group was without exception… EXCELLENT. The staff/​doctors are friendly, knowledgeable, caring, professional, and compassionate. We have one body to get us through this life and I’m glad I discovered this gem!

Fast, clean, easy and friendly the whole process was nice an easy we are from out of the country and it was $ 85 for the consult then only $ 30 for the meds we were given a discount card for the chemist too, totally unexpected but really nice
There is good carparking and the staff are very friendly– we waited less than 20 min

I had to come here when I got bitten by a dog. My meat was hanging out from one of the lacerations! There were a few people in the waiting area, I thought I was going to have to wait forever… luckily I didn’t wait that long and I saw a doctor fast. He took very good care of me, explained everything to me and made me feel at ease. He was very careful and gentle when stitching my wound up.
I came 4 more times after that for checkups, and never waited for than 10 minutes. I usually came around noon and it was empty. The doctor that saw me afterward was just as nice. Everyone I encountered was friendly and in a good mood, no one was ever rude. I wouldn’t mind going there if I have another emergency, they made the whole experience easier. Oh. And they have a good size parking lot!

This place is Awesome! The Doctors are wonderful and they actually care about you. I went in right before they were ready to close and they took me in quickly. There was no waiting and the place was clean. The entire staff was friendly. The price was very fair.

Beyond impressed with this practice and Dr. Gordon Van Tassell! Woke up feeling sick today, decided to finally see a doctor for the first time in 5 years (Yay for a new job that provides good health insurance!) and actually called to try to see Dr. Joel Jaffe — yes, I’m guilty of choosing my doctor by looking for the first Hebrew-​sounding name on the Cigna app ;) I was told Dr. Jaffe wasn’t in but Dr. Van Tassell was and I am sooooo happy to have seen him and honored to now be in his care. A friendly receptionist let me know that walk-​ins are accepted and I wouldn’t have a long wait.
I arrived about an hour later, filled out paper work and e-​mailed my insurance card over to the office from my iPhone while in the waiting room. Full disclosure: I saw the type of clientele in there and was a little put off at first but I quickly realized that I was in good hands in a great clinic. My insurance was verified in all of 2 min and my grand total wait was perhaps 5 min :)
Nurse Oscar approached me, pointed to my name on a form, said «This you?» and motioned for me to follow him. He was a little odd: did not speak at all, did not explain what the was doing, didn’t even introduce himself. the only reason I know his name was from peeking at his name tag. He took my weight, temperature, blood pressure in silence — I was now convinced CMG had a special employment program for deaf mutes like Oscar before he finally asked some preliminary questions and left the examination room. He was not as amazing as the other staff — he seemed embarrassed to ask about my previous paps and menstruation and did so with his back to me — but I barely spent time with him and the rest of my awesome visit made up for Oscar’s awkwardness.
Resident Shawn was next to come in, super friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. I was shocked when he later confided he had only been at CMG for 1 week — he’s already a pro! Shawn suggested I do a full annual check-​up while I was there and I’m happy I listened to him. This was covered by my insurance and meant that I didn’t need to pay the $ 85 office visit fee.
Shawn came back in with Dr. Van Tassell, who spent ample time getting to know me, establishing common ground, and answering my questions. Next to come in was a delightful man from El Salvador whose name I cannot remember. I have the absolute worst veins and always have a hard time giving blood, but he located a vein pretty quickly and took 2 vials of blood as painlessly as possible. No bruise this time! He talked me through it both in English and Spanish and listened to me whine and complain. He deserves a gold star just for putting up with me! I peed in a cup, gave it to him, and next thing I knew a female nurse came by to get me set up for a pap smear.
Dr. Van Tassell came back and asked me if I would be okay with Shawn and the female nurse observing. While that may have bothered me had I been elsewhere, I was made to feel so comfortable at CMG that I didn’t even give it a second thought. Actually, having a male doctor do my pap smear and breast exam would probably make me uncomfortable elsewhere as well, but Dr. Van Tassell is so professional and has such a wonderful bedside manner with his patients, I felt totally fine with it. LOL when my fiancé came home tonight he was not exactly pleased to hear that i had allowed 2 strange men to stare at/​shove things up my vagina and touch my breasts earlier in the day but oh well!
Dr. Van Tassell took time to explain to his staff exactly what he was doing and why he was doing it this way while still giving me, the patient, his full attention. He also did a breast exam and body exam. I got dressed, he came back with Shawn and we finished up the appointment.
I had a full physical, blood work, screening for STDs, well woman exam all without an appointment and I was in and out within an hour! The most amazing thing to me is that it never felt rushed — CMG is just that efficient and wonderful. I had more face time with the doctor than I could have ever imagined, he gave me his full attention and then some.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CMG! Plenty of free parking in their private onsite lot.

I was on a mission to see a General Practitioner, same day, because I woke up with symptoms that caused me some alarm. I search my insurance company ‘Doctor Directory’ and call after call same day appointments were booked. Then I found one of the Doctors at CMG on my list. The receptionist had a friendly greeting and invited me in to see a doctor today because walk-​ins were welcomed. I was floored. I literally rolled out of bed onto the floor to put my clothes on and dart out the door.
This medical group has ample parking for their patients. The reception area is very clean, very open with lots of seating. I could see they have thousands of patient files neatly organized and color coded. Again, this place was clean, which is why I continued to the receptionist. She greeted me and asked if I had my insurance card on hand — I didn’t. So, I emailed her a copy from my provider. She patiently gave me the CMG email address and forms to fill out as she awaited the email. I added my name to the wait list. They verified my insurance. Within 20 Minutes my insurance was verified.
Then I was greeted by the Nurse Practitioner, who was awesome enough to teach me a new medical fact about coughing (and included a demo). The fact is: it takes 7 tissues folded in a stacked half covering you mouth to defer spreading germs. We are all guilty of only using 1. #mindblown. Right?!
Then I met quirky + nerdy Dr. Gordon Van Tassell and his Resident, who he asked permission before she joined. He was excellent. He asked lots of rapid questions, made lots of observations quickly, and answered my questions thoroughly. When I was becoming overwhelmed he asked me personal questions and talked about his family. That helped to put me at ease. He was also very sensitive about the medications he prescribed based on my personal beliefs on pharmaceutical drugs. Then like a wizard he vanished… total rockstar.
Then I met the Medical Assistant, who gave me the doctors note. He also took the time to ensure that all my questions were answered and helped me get the answer from Dr. GVT when I had 1 more question.
Finally, I made it back to the receptionist, who handed me my prescription and payment. Done. 1hr 30m.

Had a walk in appointment today seen Dr van tassel was polite and professional as always been going there for years the staff is great always make me feel comfortable and explain everything about my visit

Went here foe a worker’s comp check-​up. Be sure to come here on your appointment time or maybe earlier because sometimes you’d end up waiting longer depending on the patients ahead of you.

I called to make an appointment for Dr. Van Tassell last week at Citizen’s Medical Group. I was told he was on vacation. The staff said I could be seen by another physician there. No thank you.
I called this week and found out he was baaack! He is by far the best physician in this group and I think the best doctor in the entire city of Los Angeles.
Dr. Van Tassell, don’t ever take another vacation again. Just kidding of course. And, I referred my friend Sandy who broke her knee.

Dr. Van Tassel is smart, thorough and has an amazing bedside manner. He went above and beyond with me and I was really impressed.
I only waited a few minutes and the visit only cost me $ 85. What a fantastic place.
