Specialties

We prepare our food with hand-​picked quality ingredients and make everything to order. We specialize in hearty classics (burritos, burrito bowls, nachos, quesadillas), but have a full kitchen that pumps out chile rellenos, home made soups, huevos rancheros, milanesa… and whatever our chef Manuel or I feel like making that day depending on what we found at the market. We also pride ourselves on our offerings to our vegetarian, vegan and gluten-​free guests.

When you taste our food and interact with the staff, we hope you feel the love that goes into every dish. We our passionate about making your experience fulfilling.

History

Established in 2009.

Cilantro was created to provide quality, flavorful and healthy food to our guests. The establishment does not have microwaves or freezers, ensuring only the freshest food prepared daily.

As manager/​owner of Cilantro Always Fresh, it’s important to provide my guests with an experience they will remember. Not just great food, but personal touches like calling them by their name and walking them out to their car. I’ve worked in other industries, but hospitality and food & beverage is where my heart is. I express my love through food, welcoming you to my home (Cilantro), and when you leave happy… it’s just the best feeling. Cilantro is my vehicle to do all this, and more.

SO GOOD. Had a tostada salad yesterday and it was cheap and excellent. I’ve been working in DTLA for 10+ years and am always happy to find new good places to eat.

We ordered tacos for a work lunch and the food was very fresh.
We had:
Chicken
Steak
Black and pinto beans
Cilantro and brown rice
Along with all of the toppings (lettuce, pico, peppers, etc.)
I am vegan so I did not eat the meat, but I found the veggies to be very fresh and I appreciated the variety of toppings. The topping made the vegan tacos more filling and flavorful (esp the banana peppers).
The manager was very friendly and helped us decide on the right amount of food. We were ordering for about 13 – 15 people and placed an order for 10 according to her recommendations. She was correct, even that was too much food!

My first experience was not the good but food is ok (as for Mexican) but Woman In there is very rude and at times she ignores you flat out.
I went Couple more times but she’s not changed her attitude instead she gotten worse.
Place is close to my job but Ain’t going back… I rather to drive or walk more that see her face at all.

I don’t know why people are complaining. Service was fast and friendly, portions are adequate, quality is decent. It’s priced almost the same as Chipotle, but Chipotle’s quality is a bit better. Still, it’s convenient and a great downtown option for meals.

I like eating here if I am craving a burrito bowl. The amount of food is plenty, and the workers are nice. However, it can get a little chaotic because the workers are going too fast. I have seen some customers get ingredients dumped in the food that they did not even ask for because things were just going way too fast. I know they may want to keep the line moving at a quick pace, but it would help to slow down just a tad bit.

I ordered a Cilantro Salad for $ 7.99. Not very good: it’s all Romaine Lettuce and not very much beans, chicken. Not very much content. I think you would get more for your money if you go to Chipotle.

I don’t know but their carne asada burrito blew my mind! It is so yummy. And the price is amazing. They have quality meats and delicious flavors. Party in my mouth for sure! If you work downtown this place is worth a visit.

Good food, authentic. Service could’ve been faster but seems understaffed a bit. A bit of a language barrier when ordering but that’s okay. Selection is kinda inconsistent and limited. (one day they had chicken wings, the next they didn’t. Menu is limited.)
Better and cheaper than Chipotle, imho.

In a search for tacos ended up with a place for great tasting mexican plates. Hours are not the typical hours, but this is in part because it services the merchants and customers of the garment district. As well this place is small so its easy to miss. I happen to be in the area again so I came back because the first visit definitely left me wanting to try more of their plates. The food is made fresh daily and taste proves it.

THIS IS NO LONGER ‘CILANTRO’- I searched vegan food and this spot came up closest to me– after I ordered (over the phone) they told me this is a different spot, no longer cilantro. No vegan options, didn’t know what «gluten-​free» meant.

Omgggg Delicious, my co workers and I ordered nachos a carne asada plate and the cilantro salad EVERYTHING was sooo delicious and Felia was so helpful over the phone. We picked up the food and aparently they have switched the name of the restaurant and extended the menu. Place is really clean and the owners were helpful. Yessss finally mexican food with great service. Gracias Felia food was smelled so good and looked great we ate everything before taking a picture

Maybe I chose the wrong thing? Carne Assad taco plate. Meat was tough and chewy. White rice was meh. Pinto beans were the best part of my plate and that’s not saying much. I like to support small businesses, but a 4-​star rating is way to much for this place.

I really loved the smoked spicy beef burrito but there was a large jagged bone in it. I got hurt biting it but I was lucky I didn’t accidentally swallow it – I’m not sure what would have happened but I’m guessing that thing would have tore up my throat going down. The bone was sort of shaped like a tooth/​fang. Not fun. Not appetizing.
Told them about it and they had no comment. I guess they think it’s normal or common? I gave it two stars because the food was good but it probably deserves one star for the bones and zero stars for not giving a crap.

Skip this and make the walk over to Chipotle, you’ll be glad you did.
Okay food, terrible service, one wrong look and they load your meal with a huge portion of an item you didn’t want, then give you a dirty when you ask them to correct their mistake.

I expect more out of a 4-​star restaurant, but standing back and pretending I didn’t know the star-​rating, I will say this place is a good little hole-​in-​the-​wall biz. The food is simple and fairly fresh, the prices in line with your average burrito joint, the venue modest but sufficient, and the service solid but unexceptional. That said, I like a little more kick in my Mexican food, and this place could stand a little more love in the spice department.
Bottom line: Don’t expect to find your favorite burrito shop here, but when everything else downtown is too far away or closed, Cilantro’s is a good enough option for that late lunch.

LOVE.
It’s not every day you’re in downtown LA! The whole morning my dad was speaking so highly of this place, which is rare because he can be quite the critic. But we love food, and if you love good food this place is not to be missed.
We each had nachos, and they were the BEST nachos I’ve ever had in my life. They were amazingly fresh from the cilantro, to the chicken to the pico di gallo.
If you’re a customer service snob, then you won’t be disappointed either. I had a great conversation with Ed, who was working that day.
This place is most definitely LA’s diamond in the rough.
