Christine’s Nails

NO NO NO. I think the owner, Christine, thinks that it’s okay to be rude to her customers since she holds her work so highly but if I’m going to get my nails done, I want to feel relaxed and not tense because of the workers. I asked her to do my nails «ballerina tip» today and as she was filing my nails, she asked why I had to go with acryllic because it’s too much filing for her. Secondly, when it was time to pay, she gave me the price and when I asked her why acryllic was more expensive this time than the last times I’ve done it, she told me that she couldn’t «talk about this right now». So. should I give you a call later and we can discuss it? I told her that I’m asking about prices because they shouldn’t differ every single time I go and that a chart with prices would be better but her response was «no one ever questions me when I give them a price». I don’t understand what’s so hard about answering questions about prices. Why are you being so defensive and acting shady? I’ve never experienced this at any nail salon I’ve been to. So, so rude.

The owner is mean and runs the place like the military. Not worth it. There are so many other places around the street with the same quality work and much more pleasant environment

It pains me to give a bad review but I wouldn’t wish bad nails on my worst enemy. No one at Christine’s knows what they’re doing besides Christine. My nails were awful, looked like a 2 year old did it but Christine graciously redid them for me. I was there for over 2.5 hours and still managed to leave with sub-​par nails. I would never recommend this place I’m sorry.

Was really impressed considering some of the other reviews. The ladies there were nice and didn’t talk Vietnamese behind your back like most nail shops. My manicure was great and she didn’t give me a sour face when I made a special request to redo a color I didn’t like.

Caution! Do not even attempt.
So the lady who helped me with my nails today was extremely rude and impolite. She doesn’t care about your nails and only just want to get he job done ASAP. You can tell that she’s experienced in doing nails, but the way she talks, and the gel they use were just dirt cheap stuff.
I went in asking for French, and a lining right on the tip. Apparently she didn’t understand what a «thin» line was and drew something very thick on my nails that I hated it. I told her immediately that this is not what I was asking for but she gave me and attitude and simply said «it’s dried». The top coat she uses for my nails is so cheap that it started chipping by the end of the day!!!
Terrible service, terrible people, terrible product. Don’t come. Seriously.

I’ve been going to Christine’s for several years now, and she is the best I’ve ever been to. She gives you Exactly what you want and is very creative as well ~ so if you want a little change, she’s the one to trust. I like all of the women who work there as well ~ they are all very friendly and they all do excellent work!

Rude. Poor quality of both acrylic and gel nails. They reuse nail files and nail buffers. Unlicensed cosmetologists who do not care about the quality of nails. I should have paid attention to all the negative reviews on here as they are accurate.

I am fully capable of painting my own fingernails and toenails, and I own about a thousand bottles of nail polish, so regular mani/​pedis have never been my thing. Plus the whole experience just feels awkward to me…
Anyway, I am out doing girly things with my girly friend, Jenny, on a Saturday afternoon, and we decide to stop in here.
From the moment we enter, the service is fantastic. The staff is super friendly, for instance — I finish a little earlier than Jenny, so they offer me bottled water and butterscotch hard candy. Also, I forgot my flip flops, so they give me a pair of foam disposable sandals. Now THAT’S service! And I look way stylish rocking these neon yellow bad boys the rest of the afternoon.
And my toes look nice! Sorry, I didn’t take a picture.
And apparently Tori Spelling — yeah, I saw that signed head shot — gets her nails done here too, so I’m sold.

Christine’s Nails is a three minute drive from where I live. There are a lot of nail salons in this area, and I’ve tried most of them out. (couple salons in the heart of Westwood near UCLA and the two nail salons that are walking distance from Christine’s) After testing a few different places out, I came back to Christine’s. Christine’s does the best job, in terms of skill and aesthetics.
I stick with gel manicures and regular pedicures, and I’m really picky with what I want. I like my nail shape round, but slightly pointed to make my fingers look longer. I want the length of all my nails to be the same. I don’t like my nails too long or too short. I want to make sure the entire nail is painted (no missed spots on the side). I want the sides of the gel to be filed down, so that it won’t be vulnerable to easy peeling. I don’t like bubbles or bumps. Christine’s is the only nail salon I’ve been to this year, where I’ve left completely satisfied.
I read through some of the other reviews, and I get where the bad ones are coming from. Bad service can ruin any experience. Despite my praise, I’ll concede that the bad service complaints are probably justified. I’ve heard the ladies talk shit in Vietnamese, and Christine is very matter-​of-​fact when she’s working. She doesn’t engage in too much small talk, and she doesn’t try to suck-​up to the client (this isn’t to say she’s mean! she’s actually really nice). If you want better service, there are plenty of nail salons in Westwood, where the ladies will compliment you, ask you about your life, etc.
However, I prefer great nails.

Really friendly staff! This isn’t second time here and I absolutely live the service! The salon itself is about shabby, but that’s made up for by the awesome $ 23 mani/​pedi :)

I’ve been coming to Christine’s for many years because it’s close to home and I’ve never had a bad experience. I always come here for a $ 13 pedicure. You get to sit in comfy couch chairs and there’s wifi. I always leave with a good pedicure and the girls give me just what I ask for. Yes, the owner Christine is the queen bee and she’s usually just doing acrylics so I don’t go to her. I’m not sure if something shady goes on with tipping though because I’ve seen the girls have to show their tips to Christine so I hope she’s not keeping some.

I had really liked this place, but clearly had only gone on good days. Recently, I went on a bad one, then again on another bad one. Now I think I“m done with this shop.
They do a good job, rates are low, etc. But as in the other reviews, you totally do have the impression that you’re being sniggered at or bad-​mouthed in Thai.
The place is also a mess – they’ve got too many throw pillows and chairs that you could easily stumble over, as you hobble out with your pedicure. Never mind that it’s a bit low-​rent – if you ask for hotter water in your footbath, you’ll have to wait, cause they can’t flip a switch and make it happen. Instead, they have to heat it up on the stove, then drag it in for you in a water pan, and it’s still not hot enough. And if you want a massage chair, fuggedhaboutit – though this is standard elsewhere, here there’s only a few, and when you get there and ask for one, they’ll be annoyed, cause they’ll have to move their purses and rolling chairs and pillows and magazines and more that are stacked up in your way.
But then there’s the Queen Bee, Christine, who, as best as one can tell, is the Queen Bee Badmouther. She’s such a sourpuss, and never smiles at the customers, and really is the one setting the bad, chaotic vibe for this place – her desk is also a mess (ok, who cares, it’s a deal, right?), but what really irks is that she’s constantly counting the cash and tapping away on her calculator as she manages the books, so you feel her hustling and negative attitude the minute you walk in. She seems to hate everyone, and it’s her slobby, non-​cheery attitude that keeps this place a not-​so-​good deal, instead of a great one. Please, Christine, why don’t you hide in an office in the back? Cause you’re spooking and chasing away your customers.
Really, ladies, with just a little attitude adjustment, some piped-​in hot water, and a few less rolling chairs and throw pillows, you’d be stars! Instead you’re on the downslide in my book, and clearly in others’. I’m finding another place with friendlier people who seem less money-​grubby, and who at least understand the modicum of service that people enjoy. For $ 15 or $ 20, it’s the customers who want to feel like their own Queen Bee, at least for an hour – they don’t want to feel shamed in a foreign language, or getting cold feet.

After moving back to LA from the Bay Area last summer, I went to several nail shops that I didn’t like and one gave me a fungus on my nails. I found Christine’s about 3 months a go and have been going there ever since.
I found Christine and the staff to be very nice. I had a problem with one of my nails and they were very apologetic and fixed it with no problems, While Westwood is not the most convenient for me. I go to Christine’s because they do a very good job and I like the service. Anna and Honey do my nails and Sally does my pedicure.

I came here for the first time and probably for the last time, I had a urgent photo shoot and for that reason i came here for a quick service but they kept me waiting for 1 hr and for that reason my shoot got delayed and the situation got even worst when I asked the management the reason of the delay and they got mad at me. I really don’t know why they acted like this but I am not happy at all with their services.

I have been coming here for years, but only when i’m in LA (twice a year). They are conveniently located in Westwood and there is never a wait. They are fast and cheap BUT they will talk behind your back, big time. And if you ask them to fix anything they look at you like you are crazy and continue to talk about you behind your back (which really is to your face, but you can’t understand them). Sometimes they are great, depends on who you get. Owner is never in a good mood, so don’t expect her to be nice. $ 14/​$ 15 mani/​pedi.

The RUDEST most ridiculously rude management. Will trash-​talk you right in front of your face to one another in their language, then giggle. Don’t go here!!! They straight up mock and make fun of you! WORST customer service anywhere! Plenty of other great nail salons in this neighborhood — DON’T give your business to these judgemental b*tches.

THEY AUTOCLAVE THEIR INSTRUMENTS!
I’m a bit of a germaphobe, and never have I found another nail salon that autoclaves their instruments. (This is how you’d clean scalpels for surgery).
Wide range of colors, many workers, alright service, plus a deal for $ 14 manicures on Mondays. But really. The autoclave was the kicker for me. :D

So I used to really love this place. I live in Long Beach and would make a point to get my nails done here when I was in West LA but the last time I came, they did a HORRIBLE job on my nails.
Prices: great! ²²⁄₂₃ bucks for a mani pedi is awesome
Polish colors: BIG selection — ESSIE which i love
Comfort: 3 — 4 stars, strange chair things. better than an office chair I’ve seen at other places.
Quality of work: 5 star until the last time I was in
So I walk in, and pick my favorite color — a dark red. My toes came out spectacular, and two weeks later, still look spectacular. Wish I knew her name, did a great job but her massage SUCKED.
My nail lady looks at my color and says «I hate doing that color»
im like excuse me?
She’s like: «It’s a hard color to paint»
My thoughts: don’t work here if you can’t handle this color
She did a terrible job — messy. took it off when I got home and redid it myself.

But before this experience, Ive always had a great one — especially with this one tall skinny long haired girl. shes bomb. Wish I knew her name. Ill be back. I’ve given ex boyfriends second chances, ill give the nail lady one too.

I recommended this place highly as being efficient & no-​frills with some really great ladies. That has changed. My last visit was absolutely rude. They have tried to really spruce the place up too, which makes me feel sorry for them. They are trying in all the wrong ways. They need to get more friendly and courteous to people. My two ladies I used to go to there have gone; and in their place I got a young girl who was obviously disgusted by working on me. WHO TAKES THIS KIND OF JOB AND SHOWS THAT ATTITUDE? She was cross, moved my leg into an uncomfortable position repeatedly, and even insisted I should change the color I had selected when I brought it myself, from home, because it is my favorite right now.
The manager has always been rather rude, blunt, etc., on the telephone, but she is just running the place and is not your main contact. I have always assumed her lack of finesse was just due to her experience in other countries. It just seemed naiive. But this girl they put to work on me was just inexcusable. I’m not going back, sorry.

NEVER AGAIN.
You know that Seinfeld episode where Elaine thinks the nail salon workers are talking about her and they really were? Well that’s Christine’s Nails for you.
Besides being rude and obnoxious they did a very poor job with my mani/​pedi. I can do a better job and did so after i left.
I will NEVER go there again.
