Best hair salon i’ve been to!!! Been following Terry for years! Ask him what he thinks fits your face shape the best or even take a picture of a celebrity hair style and he’ll tell you why he can or cant cut it that way depending on your hair coarsness. I have really thick and curly hair so I cant do a lot of styles i want but he did the japanese straightening perm and i loved it!!! hes very detailed and gets every strand even the hard to reach places. just got a brazilian blow out for the first time and turned out silky smooth. highly recommended!!!

I generally have a problem articulating and getting what I want at hair salons. I’m paranoid about changing my hair and can sometimes be impulsive about doing a new thing.
This place takes walk-​ins, which I loved, since I walked past and decided that since I needed to get a trim soon anyway, I should just go here and get bangs.
I described what I thought my hair should look like and got exactly what I wanted. They were quiet and didn’t try and make me have a conversation while I was getting a haircut which always makes me nervous. It was pretty much perfect and also not super expensive. Plus I got the whole rad blow out thing. I like this place and would go back.

I have been there many times. Terry does a very nice job and listens to me, rather than giving me the DO of the month or the season.
He is quiet and seems to really like his work.
As a senior plus, he gives me a bit of a discount, but i don’t think that is automatic.
He does not try to sell me products, which i appreciate.
His helpers used to wear very noisy heels that clacked, clacked across the wood floor. His new salon hair assistant is quite fine.
He has never smoked when i’m there, or been distracted. I have no complaints at all. I like the relaxed environment that seems consistent with his own manner.

Ah… Change… a place I’ve been to once before (when I was experiencing my quarter-​life crisis and wanted a completely NEW LOOK)… Anyway, I got anxious when it came down to chopping off my rather long hair and so I walked out with a simple trim… that was earlier this year. Terry, the owner, did a great job at the time. I knew I’d come back. However, I should have stuck with just trims because the last time I went there 2 months ago, I suddenly wanted curls. Big, wavy curls damnit. I walked out with a fro. Well, okay, that’s a lie. I walked out with some nice wavy curls in my hair (after getting a loose perm or whatever they called it)… However, I came home, went to bed and woke up with nothing. My entire head of hair had just become ONE BIG WAVE. I swear, it looked like a fro. So I went back and told the guy that something was just NOT RIGHT. He immediately told me that my hair is way too coarse and that he would have to do it over again. Uh… no. I was so frustrated at that point that I asked him to just get that fluff out of my hair and straighten it out. 2 visits and 4 hours later, I came out of Change looking anything BUT changed. What a waste.
Damn these quarter-​life crisesseseseseseseseses. *shakes fist in the air*
I gave Terry 3 stars instead of 2 because:
1. He was nice about the whole thing.
2. He can’t help it that my freakin’ hair is so damn coarse.
3. I liked my trim?

So it’s the day before my sister’s wedding and I had to get a haircut or my mom was going to kick my ass, being that this was going to be the first wedding in our family.
So I decide to go to Change because my friend/​neighbor told me about this place. Apparently the stylist at Change was hired by Kim Sun Young (KSY) some time ago. KSY had recruited him from Korea or something, but then this guy decided to open up his own shop. Well, seeing that his place is 4 blocks from my place I decided to give him a try.
I called and scheduled an appointment that same day. I get to the salon and I’m not greeted by anyone. Then some guy (probably the stylist’s assistant) approaches me and could barely speak English. I was having a hard time understanding what he was trying to say.
They washed my hair and sent me to my chair. The stylist asked me what I wanted to do and I told him just a trim. He starts doing his thing and was doing a pretty good job. He stops with my hair and goes to another customer that was on a timer for something. He goes over for about 10 minutes and when he was done with her, he decides to go smoke a cigarette. I was totally not bothered by the fact that he went to finish-​up with his other customer, but I was freaking annoyed that he went to go smoke cigarette.
OK, so the gross part. He smokes his damn cigarette and comes back. He goes and washes his hands and starts on my hair again. As he’s working I begin to smell cigarettes. I guess he didn’t wash his hands well enough. So he’s working on my hair with stinky hands. He stops in between cutting several more times to deal with personal phone calls on his cell phone. So by this time I’m annoyed and I want to leave the damn place.
So the final product… the final product smelled like cigarettes but it did look good. However, for the price I paid and the service I received I will never, ever go back to this place. I’m sticky to KSY because the stylist don’t go and smoke and come back with smelly ass fingers.
