Absolutely love this place! They actually used nail grinder on my dog, because her nails are black and they didn’t want to hurt her. How sweet! Their grooming service is amazing!
The store has main food brands. They also carry Orijen which is great!

Cats & Dogs is a little pet store on the corner of Rowena and Hyperion, in the same strip mall as the Village Vet, where I’ve been taking my basset hound Duke since we adopted him in 2012. I’ve been patronizing Urban Pet for most of Duke’s needs (mainly because they carry our brand of kibble), but have stopped by Cats & Dogs a number of times to pick things up after vet appointments – canned food for geriatric dogs when he had stomach problems, pill pockets to carry his antibiotics, whatever. Little guy has had plenty of issues.
It’s a cute, friendly pet store with a nice staff and a good selection of all the pet basics. Not a giant place, but I’ve been able to find almost anything I’ve needed here with relative ease. Duke likes it here, too. Our first interaction with the place was when a staff member spotted him and came outside to feed him a treat. Genius on-​the-​ground marketing, according to Duke.
Recently, my poor dog had a nasty infection in a nasty place that had us at Village Vet like six times in the span of a month. We came to Cats & Dogs to get pill pockets and canned pumpkin after one of these appointments and ran into Gary, Duke’s favorite Village Vet vet tech, a super nice guy who’s been seeing Duke since he was a wee sickly thirty-​pound pup. We said hi (Gary had been attending to Duke not fifteen minutes prior), and when I asked what he was there for, he said he’d recently become an owner of the store. I decided pretty much immediately that I’d come to Cats & Dogs more often.
It’s a great pet store with a quality selection of products and the warmest possible pet-​loving humans making it run. I’m happy to have the place right in my neighborhood and will continue to frequent it, even when Duke is in good health.

I have three dogs that I usually bathe myself, which as you can imagine, takes up a lot of time. I finally decided to get them professionally groomed and boy was I glad I did. They looked AMAZING!!! The pricing for grooming was reasonable, the products in their store were of superior quality, and the expertise of the staff was invaluable. Everyone was so very sweet and helpful, we will definitely be back! Can’t thank them enough for the wonderful experience.

Love this place! It has a new owner, Gary, who was super friendly when my sister and I came in. He also gave us a first time locals discount and was saying how he took over the store. We found some great cat toys and he recommended some doggie stuff. We are definitely coming back!

Kellie is the BEST groomer in town! She groomed my girls and did a fabulous job! They are so happy and look great! I’m never going anywhere else! The shop has a lot of good food and toys and is very clean! Their prices are very reasonable! Each of them had a cute bandanna on, and smelled so so good! Thank You Kellie! You are amazing!

they are very close to us and we have used them for many years with mixed results; anywhere from great to okay. the problem is that they use several stylists — you never know who you are going to get.
however, the last time our dog went in she literally (used as the word was intended) looked worse then when she went in. uneven cuts over the entire dog — tufts of hair sticking out all over! the dog was not even brushed, the trimmed hair was just hanging off of her resulting in quite a mess in the car.
we have learned our lesson — unfortunately we had to pay for the that too!

This shop is under new ownership. Yay. I’ve been coming here since my baby was a few months old. He’s now 12. We come primarily for grooming and I’ll have to say that in the past, it was really hit or miss with whether or not the groomer did what I asked. Once we had a really bad stretch of visits under the previous owner (bleeding toes everywhere when we got home, ears not cleaned, shaving burns on the belly… gah) so we took a serious hiatus and went trying out other groomers in the Westside and Downtown. I’m glad we came back. They took very good care of my little shih tzu ($ 60 for full grooming package before tip). I’ve met groomers before who seem like they don’t like dogs. Strange, huh? Not with the new folks here. They’ll love your dog. We’ll be back.

My little Pekingese pup hates the groomers! This was my second visit, and as we were walking up she had her tail between her legs and was pulling me away from the door! I left her there and walked out feeling all kinds of guilty, like I left her to be beaten!
When I walked in to pick her up, she was happy! Normally she’s shaking and leaning into me and this time she was so calm! I was definitely impressed.
The new owner was there and when I spoke to him, I could tell that he really cares about his customers and their pups.
As long as they keep treating her like the princess she is, I’ll keep coming back!

Gary, the owner, could not be more wonderful! We take our cats to be groomed here and they are always at ease around him and his staff. In fact, we like him and his establishment so much that Gary also pet sits for us. He truly, truly cares about animals. 5 Stars!

Stellar staff! Gary is the best! Very informative and highly experienced. I took Bella my 6 year old shih tzu pekingese aka Ewok for a grooming. Quick and comforting, I get very nervous taking Bella anywhere new due to the horror stories you hear, but Cats and Dogs eases all that anxiety and you can tell Bella had fun! Thank you Cats and Dogs! Very much appreciated!

Here’s a small intro — I’m an extremely overprotective mother of a 10 year old geriatric Pembroke Welsh Corgi who is a total @$$hole. He won’t let anyone touch him without trying to bite. He has also undergone multiple knee surgeries and is arthritic.
Here’s my review — I brought my lovely dog into Cats and Dogs for a bath and a nail trim. I spoke with one of the girls working the register and asked if it would be possible considering all of my dog’s wonderful qualities that I mentioned in my introduction above. She told me that it was definitely possible and while I was expressing all of my concerns, the owner walked over to reassure me that my dog would be in the best care. He told me that they would try to avoid using a muzzle to make the experience less traumatic for my dog. He even kneeled down and slowly approached my little man and managed to pet him a few times! The owner gave me the confidence I needed to leave my dog for his grooming. When I returned to pick up my dog, he was happy and looked terrific with his freshly groomed coat. The owner walked up smiling and told me my dog did try to bite during the nail trim but all of his nails were trimmed successfully without incident. I’ve seen my dog after other grooming experiences in the past and he always looked fearful and traumatized. After his experience at Cats and Dogs, he was wagging his tail and acted like the owner was his new best friend.

Unfortunately, I can’t remember the owner’s name but he’s an absolute sweetheart who genuinely cares for your pet. My little man is going to be a regular at Cats and Dogs. I wouldn’t trust another grooming facility after our unbelievably wonderful experience.

Gary is the absolute best!!! This place is adorable and the groomers and staff are so sweet and treat your animas so well. They literally treat every dog as if it were their own.
