We provide men’s hair cut service that is contour cut, hair design, shampooing, shaves, beard design, shaved fades and taper, flat top, comb over, eyebrows, line-up, and hard lines.
I’ve gone to different spots where barbers rush to get done and often times mess up something as simple as a line up, Luis does quality work and takes the time to give you the haircut you want. He’s been consistent and has helped me out in even recommending hairstyles and products.

Guadalupe is awesome. Even if you’re right off the street, like I was the first time, she really takes her time with your haircut — making sure it is exactly what you want. The older guy, who I guess is the owner, is rude as hell. When I walked in — to see if Guadalupe was there — he was a dick. He wasn’t even cutting someone’s hair, but immediately gave me attitude about needing an appointment. Had to break his heart and let him know that I wasn’t there to see him anyway.

I have incredibly, unusually thick hair. And I mean THICK! Jesus uses his own patented technique with a razor unlike I’ve ever seen elsewhere. Hair comes out great each time and he’s a great guy. Highly recommended!

Luis the barber is one of the most talented barbers that I know. I traveled the world with the military and received a tons of cuts around the world. I get a low ball straight razor taper with 1 finger skin over the ears and two finger skin in the back(not an easy cut) with a combover part and Luis knocked it out perfect. Very stoked he’s on the Westside. Super nice too. I’m usually not one for conversations in the chair but our conversation was above your typical small talk. I’ll try and photos next cut.

Amazing haircut! I came with the idea of showing him one picture and let him do his work and that is just what he did. I have always cut my hair at salons because i had the idea that they were more detail oriented but if you are looking for a place where you can have a haircut that will make you come back to the same place i suggest you give it a try. I happen to leave 3 minutes away and i plan to come back even if i move to the east coast. Thats a little bit too far but you get my point. Really friendly person who will take his time until you are satisfied; which by the way did not take long because he knew what he was doing. I am really picky when it comes to cut my hair and Jesus did just an amazing job. Definitely coming back.

Actual review rate is 4.5 This place is awesome, I have never had a complain or concern with my cuts. The new barber addition to the shop brings a more modern style to the neighborhood. My cuts have been precise and consistent everytime I step in. I rarely have to give the specifics its more like I want the same again and its delivered. Service is great my barber makes sure that I am content with his work before letting me go of the chair. Price range is very reasonable and to me personally its extremely convenient since I live near Mar Vista. I have never had any parking issues or long waiting times to get attended. Location is a little gem in the city truly worth giving a try. The only reason I considered this a 4.5 review is the place could use a little more life, inside and outside. Although that does not impact my experience personally it could definitely attract many more people.

Great cuts by Luis the barber, I appreciate his business and respect his work. I’ve been cutting my hair with Luis for about 2 years, and he’s always given me the best service. I highly recommend him.,

This is the best haircut I got ever since moving down to LA. The place is small and they take their time cutting hair but the end product is worth the wait. I got my haircut from the lady, don’t catch her name. They charge only $ 13 which is far less than some of the places in Marina Del Rey/Venice area. I didn’t make an appointment and didn’t have to wait at all. i would definitely go back again. I guess I found my barber in the La La Land!

Nice guy, but unimpressive haircut. «Meh. I’ve experienced better» is right! I’d rather have a barber that knows how to cut, over a barber that talks a lot and is funny.

Jesus did a great job! He’s legit and friendly. Would be even better if he used a razor to clean up the edges. I’d go back for sure

Just got back from getting a haircut there. 1st timer. Just like the other reviews here, he’s a great barber. First impression– nice and personable man. I live walking distance from this place but really didn’t make much of it. I was looking for a barber shop and went to L&R nearby, but I was not satisfied. So I continued looking for a new barber. I usually cut my hair in Orange County since I grew up down there and usually cut my hair when I go visit the family. It was $ 10 there, though I don’t mind paying a couple of bucks more… $ 13…Now I have place that I can go to. It’s a small joint but it seems he gets a lot of customers. He takes appts. which is weird for a barber shop. He says that’s the best way to get your cut right away. I was fortunate today that there was no one waiting. Definitely recommend it if you are looking for a good fade.

I’ve lived in Mar Vista for nearly three years. Carlos Barber Shop is right across the street. I only just started going. I wish I had gone here sooner. Haircuts are $ 13. There’s a special for $ 10 men’s cut, but that’s only if you get it cut by the stylist there. If you want the barber, Jesus, it’s $ 13. That’s kinda confusing, but even so, $ 13 is pretty good for West LA haircuts. It’s a small place. When I went on a Saturday morning, it was Jesus and the stylist. There was a little wait, so if you just walk in, it may take a while. Best to call ahead for an appointment. It’s totally worth it. Jesus is pretty good. I think I’ve found my neighborhood barber. And he’s just across the street! Highly recommended.

Jesus is the ONLY barber in LA that I allow to cut my hair. Hes the coolest guy in the world, and doesnt charge an arm & a leg. I HIGHLY recommend you to make him your primary barber.

Been getting my hair cut there forever! Been going there since the 80’s! Back when there was actually a «Carlos» working there lol. The shop was on Washington Blvd and now is on Washington Place. Love the recent addition of appointments. basically meat and potatoes here guys. I have been to others but always come back. if you want a shampoo, highlights, etc not the place for you.

Went to Jesus every three weeks«religiously» No charge for appointments. Razor lines. $ 13 plus tip. Jokes and smile. Can’t beat it, it’s what you ask for in a barbershop. I found this shop randomly from a google search. I Was looking for a barbershop not too far from the ucla campus and Culver City, that could do a clean tapper fade. I had three places to try out and I didn’t get to them, after my experience at Carlos’s. Jesus welcomed me in and told me to point at the cut I wanted on the chart and I he would make my hair look like the picture. And he has never failed me. He’s always on time, and never was in a bad mood which is important when somebodies altering your appearance. It’s a clean shop, with a TV and a fan(standard). There’s plenty of free parking, so no running for the meters in a smock. I’m use to frequenting my favorite local Black owned Barbershop in the Bay Area with haircuts $ 17 bucks a pop. But, This shop made me feel like I was at home, when I was new to the area. Now that I’m out of the area, when I do make my way down to LA I make sure to make an appointment to visit Jesus.

4 stars. Really one of life’s simple pleasures: getting a haircut on a Saturday, groomed and ready to roll until the next buzz. Used to drive around for a good, low-key, friendly and value-oriented stylist and/or barber who won’t massacre the little that’s left on top. Had it with the so-called fashion stylists who charge an arm and a leg, who really are just waiting for Fabio to walk through their doors(a negative score on the machismo factor.). Sorry, Zohan, not my cup of tea. Been to some«family salons» where it’s all right, but end up with what I call«timid» cuts.(Not moving the machismo gauge either.) Lately, I’ve been leaning back towards the old school barbershop — no frills, a bit of Joe Friday-esque«just the facts». That’s how I stumbled across Carlos Barbershop this morning after having eyed it driving around the neighborhood some time ago. Two barbers were working and Jesus, the younger of the two, was the one who attended me. We struck a good rapport off the bat, which I always appreciate when being a patron in a joint like this, and he was attentive and specific to what type of cut I wanted.(I’m pretty easy these days…) Started off with the electric clipper on dry hair — I don’t recall him using shears on me this time, although the end result was even and well done. If I’m coming to a barbershop, I want the straight razor trim on the back and on the sides, which Jesus performed. He’s a minimalist when it came to the shaving cream, but it was enough to get the job done. He handed me a mirror a couple of times to check if I was satisfied with the cut. Carlos Barbershop has been at this location for about six years, after being in business for 35 years a few blocks away.(Not to be confused with another unrelated barber shop of the same name, that is near Sepulveda and Palms.) The room is tidy, clean, and bright, albeit on the spartan side.(Well, it does help bring the macho factor back on positive territory.) Don’t recall if there was even a TV or radio on. There is no a/c, but a big fan does help move some air. While walk-ins are welcome(I was lucky and didn’t have to wait.), Jesus encouraged me to call for an appointment. Tuesday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.(If you plan to visit closer to 5:30 p.m. on a weekday, call ahead as Jesus mentioned that he’ll go home if business appears thin by 5:00 p.m.) Saturdays 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Street parking was easy along Washington Pl. or over by Grand View. Verdict: $ 12, plus tip, for a regular men’s cut, evenly and well-executed. A talc brush-off at the end would have made this an even better experience. This one goes on my list of friendly neighborhood barbershops, «Yay! I’m a fan.» I think I hear the clicking on the machismo gauge.
