Ordered delivery for lunch and I placed the order at least an hour before. I called them twice about the whereabouts of my food, they kept saying«it’s on the way» but it came at least thirty minutes after it was said to arrive. The guy who delivered it had the nerve to ask, «are you giving tip as cash or just add to your card?» I’d take my money somewhere more reliable, especially if you’re tight on time like a lunch break. The food was mediocre, their«side salad» was just lettuce with no dressing.

WORSTEXPERIENCEEVER! We work across the street, have ordered many times from them before, have had horrible experiences with them. will never go back! a few months ago i placed an order for soup, explicitly explained i have a shrimp allergy when i got my soup, and went to take a second bite, a shrimp came to the surface, i started reacting to it, my friends called them and they said well what can we do would you like another soup, today we ordered again, the food was extremely salty, a coworker went back to return it and was called desperate for 7 dollars when we asked to be refunded for the entrée. NEVERAGAIN the service is awful the owners, are RUDE…

What can I say about the wok. I been here countless times(I worked down the street) and service is hit or miss depending who is serving you. I always get the cripsy orange chicken and rice and and it hits the spot every time. That’s where it ends. Servers hardly ever check up on you or ask if you need a refill. This place is so small that you think the servers would be more attentive. The tables are usually sticky and the floors seem to never get swept.

Saw a big COCKROACH walk right past me as I was eating. When me and my friend mentioned it to the lady at the register, she acts like its not big deal and brushes it off. The nerve! At the same time, two lady’s were at the register about to order and when they heard us mention the roach, they quickly left. I don’t think they too much cared, as they were about to soon close. Really sad. They are also very stingy on their servings. They give you more onions and peppers than shrimp, for example.

The owner(the only woman that works there) ISTERRIBLE! SHEISRUDEANDVERYRUDETOHEREMPLOYEES. I waited an hour for my delivery and I only work 1 block away. When I called to find out the status the owner insisted that it has already been delivered and even argued with me about it until I asked her who paid for the food!!! She then called the driver and yelled at him only to get back on the phone with me and hang up in my face. We had orders for 3 people and only 1 fork was included with one napkin. My coworker had the wonton soup and it smelled disgusting and tasted just the same. They add some weird rubber chicken to all of their soup so I would suggest to get soup without chicken.

California Wok @ 8520 West 3rd Street. Los Angeles California 91754. Ticket #P569. I had ordered Chicken and string beans WITHOUT hot red peppers because I CANNOT have or eat #hot red pepper#. So I called California Wok to make a legitimate complaint concerning my issue. Before, I had left California Wok I had clearly asked Fred did tge sting beans and chicken had ANY# hot red peppers # in them? Fred said no and he also asked the cook and he said no as well… However, I spoke with Fred and the female(Owner) they both had me on the phone a very, very, very, long, long time then the female(Owner) HUNGUPONME!!! What, kind of CUSTOMERSERVICE is that for a business to be out right RUDE to the customer!!!

This is a pretty standard Chinese take out spot. I came to pick up lunch to go with some coworkers and were able to get our orders in less than 10 minutes from ordering, which was nice. Lunch specials are around $ 8 and come with a side salad, rice, and entrée. The staff was very accommodating and allowed me to change from white rice to fried rice after I had already ordered. The«salad» is literally just 5 pieces of lettuce, but I did enjoy the tangy dressing that it came with. Apparently there are two options for orange chicken — tender or crispy. I’ve never had tender orange chicken so I ordered the crispy and it was good enough to satisfy my orange chicken craving. Just don’t come here expecting authentic Chinese food and you’ll be fine.

If your ordering a full order of walnut shrimp give a full order of walnut shrimp. Not walnut shrimp and broccoli for 14.95+tax . No where in that menu does it say half shrimp half broccoli. And they forgot the plates I asked for in the order. Will never support this restaurant again.

Unless you love fried pieces of(chicken?) skin drenched in a thick, sugary orange sauce, stay away from this establishment!!! We ordered an orange chicken dish and specifically asked if it was breast, and the rude cashier assured us it was breast and probably laughed at us on the way out, bag in hand. We opened it and couldn’t believe our eyes. This place let’s no part of the(chicken?) go to waste, including every piece of skin that they fool tons and tons of patrons a day into believing it’s chicken breast. No need to elaborate further, just stay away.

This place used to be a much better. But after my last visit I decided to never come back! Ordered chicken chow mein from the lunch menu. And I got a quarter of plate of chicken noodles and half plate of white rice… I mean if somebody ordering chicken with a noodles it must be a CHICKENWITH A NOODLES!!! So I spent $ 8 for the lunch and stays hungry. Good deal!

The sweet and sour chicken lunch special was perfectly flavored and delightful. The garlic chicken lunch special was also quite moist and tasty. Service is fast, food is hot and prepared to order and is a great value.

Ordered a pretty«standard» meal – two dishes and a soup. Placed order at 9:30, didn’t show up until 11:10. When a quoted time says 45 minutes to an hour on the website, you should probably keep to it. Called Eat24, they assured us the ordered was«on it’s way» and it was only 5 minutes away. Food came 20 minutes later… decent food-nothing great. Nope, never again. Good luck with that California Wok. **side note. Just noticed the restaurant closed at 10. Food showed up at 11:10. Sooooo, what was my food doing for an hour? I live 5 minutes away the restaurant. Gross.

I went here for lunch 2 days ago. I got the chicken teriyaki bowl. It was awful. The chicken tastes like fried pork. The Veggies and rice were decent. But the chicken which is supposed to be the center of dish is a complete joke. You get better teriyaki chicken at Panda Express. PS. My Co worker did get Beef & Broccoli which is really good. So I would recommend that if anything.

My friend and I were driving around the area looking for a place to grab lunch before heading to LACMA. We spotted this restaurant and decided to give it a try. The restaurant itself doesn’t boast much. It has an open kitchen and decent seating. We came in at around 1pm on a Tuesday and there were a number of people there, but we didn’t have to wait for a seat. We ordered the chicken fried rice and szechuan beef lunch special(both were $ 7.95). The lunch special came with steamed rice and a basic salad. The portions were quite big(we both had leftovers). The food itself was very average but at least it was authentic! The service was great! Waiters kept coming to fill our water and making sure we had everything we needed.

I almost didn’t order food from here because of the less than stellar Unilocal reviews this place has. But, two co-workers had been ordering from here for awhile, and they both said they liked the food, and they are not particularly easy to please, so I took a chance. I should make it clear right now I just ordered take out, so I have no idea what the actual restaurant is like. We ordered Chow Fun, garlic chicken, and steamed dumplings. We all liked the chow fun. It was tasty, and thankfully didn’t have what I call that glutinous mass syndrome like the take out Ranch 99 Chow Fun I’ve gotten has where all the noodles stick together in one huge mass of starch. The steamed dumplings were good, definitely not great, but they went fast, so what does that tell you? I thought the garlic chicken was just ok. Portions were decent. Price was quite reasonable. Delivery time was reasonable, they said 30 minutes, it was definitely more than that, but it was under an hour so I’d say that’s ok. We gave some thought as to why California Wok is so poorly reviewed. I think because a lot of people are looking for California Chinese, you know healthy, non greasy, which this isn’t. But, it also isn’t Alhambra/Monterey Park authentic Chinese food either, it’s somewhere in between. Which is ok by me, but doesn’t please the Westside crowd. Bottom line is I know my co-workers and I are going to order from this place again soon. Update May 2016 My co-workers like the food from here, so we ordered again. I have to say the food was really good. Everything we ordered was good. Just as good as driving to Chinatown. Actually, I think the food had gotten even better than the last time we ordered.

I’ve been here a few times for a lunch break, since it’s walking distance from where I work. The restaurant is kinda small, but the service is quick and the food pretty decently priced. I’ve gotten the lunch specials, which are well priced, and come with rice and side salad. It’s a pretty filling meal, and while I wouldn’t call of the best Chinese food I’ve had, it’s still good! The service is fast, and the staff is usually pretty nice. It’s not really the type of place to come and have a fabulous dining experience — more like get in and get out. It’s a good spot to grab a quick lunch by yourself or with friends/colleagues.

Update. And a bad one. No longer high on our list. We ordered food from them at 7:15pm. Guy arrived at our door at 8:45pm. We live 3 minutes away and ordered 2 simple dishes with no sides. We called them at the one hour mark and was told their guy left 10 minutes ago with only our food and no other order… And he should be there in a second. We called to cancel the order 20 min later. When we called to cancel the order, the woman chose to argue with us instead of apologizing. She said that we really weren’t waiting that long. Sorry, but 90 min(when the food finally arrived and was NOT accepted) for two small dishes from a restaurant 3 minutes away is unacceptable. And then to be lied to is worse. And then to be argued with!!! Well, we won’t go back there. There are way too many other Chinese places near by to deal with these folks.
