Bright Beginnings Family School

My daughter went to school from age 2 to 5 years of age here. She loved it! The teachers are caring and have your child’d best interest. I was very sad that because she was going on to kindergarden, we had to leave. Our daughter has great memories and was well prepared in school when she left. The activities, art and music are also fantastic.

We were all ready to attend BB and had submitted a deposit, but then we changed our mind since the director was okay with slotting my children into classes that were not age appropriate, in order to fill the spaces. When we changed our mind for this reason, a couple of months before we were due to start for the summer session, the director was very unpleasant (and not understanding) when we gave our reason for not joining after all. Of course, she also kept the deposit, but it was more the attitude that bothered me. I am currently looking for another preschool given that the one we went with did not end up being a good fit, but I wouldn’t call this school again, even if the age-​appropriate spots became available. My experience definitely echoed the one described by Wanda D. It seemed great during the first visit, but the second, less formal visit when I dropped off the deposit did not seem so great. Teachers didn’t seem happy and the kids did not seem especially engaged, maybe because it was close to pickup time. Needless to say, I didn’t leave with the same warm, fuzzy feelings that I had during the first visit. As I understand, this place has switched management many times and there may be a problem with the current management.

We had our two kids at Bright Beginnings for about a year and a half before we moved up to the Bay Area and it was one of the hardest parts of leaving LA. The kids loved the school, the kids and all the teachers very much. Your children will be cared for here at this school. Lots of encouragement to be creative and solve problems in independent ways and the right amount of oversight and guidance from the teachers. Kids Night Out was a bonus feature too! We miss our BB fam!

Both of my children have gone to Bright Beginnings, meaning I’ve been here for 6 years and have one more year to go. It breaks my heart to think of leaving this place for good. The main thing I can say about this school is that it is fun, caring, play based, thoughtful and secure for my kids. I pick them up happy (and usually toting or wearing something they’ve created) every day. There is a clear and consistent routine and most of the teachers have been there well over a decade! This alone speaks volumes for the place. They provide kids and parents with a community — to connect and thrive together. My 8 year old and I still keep in touch with families 4 years after we left. Great place.

I chose Bright Beginnings after investigating 12 preschools. My main motivations were that it was located conveniently, was affordable, had a good space and a friendly vibe — what an enormous, amazing surprise I have gotten! This school is a jewel! With effortless grace, they teach children everything they need to be kindergarten ready and then some. By the time she turned four my little one could count to 70, and knew all the letters and their sounds. Now, at four years and 3 months, she has begun reading thanks to the excellent preparation given her at Bright Beginnings. On top of that, she loves the atmosphere and teachers, all of whom are sweet and supportive, while also communicating effective rules and teaching good behavior. They are also excellent educators who incorporate learning into play so effectively that kids find learning natural and fun. I cannot praise Bright Beginnings enough.

We thought we found a great preschool. During the first tour, the school looked incredible. The kids were busy, lots of teachers around, a nice large outdoor play ground. We visited the second time to submit our $ 75 registration fee and a $ 550 deposit. We didn’t have such a great feeling when we left. The kids looked a bit bored, the instructors looked less than thrilled, and the lady touring us was very abrupt with one of the kids.
Upon leaving this ‘tour’ we were given the ‘calender /​schedule’. For working parents, ask for the vacation schedule BEFORE you leave a deposit. Besides closing for 22 holidays, they close for 6 days of ‘Teacher in Service’ Days (4 of those are ½ days but still — that means a working parent must take a vacation day). TO TOP IT OFF, a week later when decided to follow our gut feeling (not to mention the unreasonable vacation schedule) we asked for our deposit back. NOPE. They keep it. Unfair considering 1) it was a week later 2) the spot will fill and 3) the schedule wasn’t given until AFTER we gave a deposit.

We LOVE Bright Beginnings!!! The teachers are all fantastic and our little one loves it there. I toured 8+ schools before finding BB. They keep the kids safe, engaged and are supportive of the families as well. It is a wonderful community and a fantastic preschool.

this school reminds you of the neighbor hood schools you went to as a kid, homely, sweet, cute and fun. Warm teachers and directors who also have a sense of humor. The school has changed hands many times but all of them were former teachers or knew the former owner directly so you are pretty much getting the next generation.

I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old. Between the two girls, I have visited many many preschools. I went to Bright Beginnings on 3 different occasions and loved this preschool more and more each time. Each time I saw how attentive and sweet the staff was. The directors could not be any nicer! I have had two friends’ whose children went to this preschool. I cannot wait to start my daughter, Saara, in January!

It is impossible to find a good preschool on the Westside. I visited 7 schools when trying to find a place for my 2 year old. This is a great and affordable family preschool. They have 4 classes (2, 3, 4, 4.5) and a very large yard for the kids.
Pros:
— Potty training is not required for the 2 year old class
— Great teachers
— Encourage parent participation but it is not required
— Monthly parents night out (small fee), siblings can be dropped off as well!
Cons:
— Snacks are provided but no lunch. In fairness, none of the 7 schools I visited provide lunch.
— This is a developmental school so if you’re looking for hardcore academics look elsewhere
