My boyfriend and I went in for a full consultation /​facial this past weekend and it was amazing. Monique gave us both the oxygen mask and it was so very refreshing. We both left with our face feeling hydrated, vibrant, and youthful. We highly recommend her. We already have another appt set up for a microdermabrasion. She is very knowledgeable and great at what she does. I love the fact that infuses natural products and oils in her treatments, even giving us home recipes to use on our skin. The smell of lavender throughout the office is very comforting. We will definitely be back again and again.

I just had a level 3 microdermabrasion treatment with Monique! She was so honest and kind to me. I explained to her all the issues I was having with my skin and she helped me by recommending products and even provided a free sample! I already made my next appointment and I look forward to seeing more results!

I’ve only been going to Monique for a couple of months and I can’t rave enough about her. She has improved my skin drastically. I have hormonal cystic acne and have been suffering with it for years. If you have issues with your skin please take my word for it and try her out. You won’t regret it. She will take care of you. Had my most recent facial with Monique a month ago and I still get compliments on my glow! An older black woman with flawless skin told me she thought I was 19! 19, people! That’s at least ten years Monique has taken off my face. Doesn’t get any better. I have been going to Monique since meeting her in my dermatologist’s office years ago. I regularly get complimented on my skin though I’m definitely not the best at keeping up a routine. Monique is a skin life saver! Tailors treatments to your needs, prescribes the right product, and is throughly knowledgable in her field. Her skincare «toys» are amazing and I am always pleasantly surprised how up on game she is with advances on skin care! Have made referrals before and no one is ever disappointed!

She is a wonderful person who is amazing at what she does. I have seen such a dramatic change in my skin. I don’t break out as much as I use to, I have less dry patches, and an over all healthier glow. She makes me feel so comfortable and is super funny and great to talk to. My go-​to for chemical peels. Her background in dermatology not only makes her more affordable than going to the doctor’s office, but also makes her really versatile. I’ve been really bad about not going these past two months and kept canceling. She’s always gracious though. Her express facial prices are great. Good for a quick pick-​me-​up and clear your blackheads.

She is just amazing with skin. She knows what she is doing, I have seen her for about 8 months now. The first time she touched my face I saw the difference, she transformed my skin and I’m so happy I found her. She is really nice and helpful all the time. She is not the type of person that just wants your money, she really care about your skin, and she would help you get the skin you dreamed of. I have been looking for ages for someone like Monique.
I am a skin fanatic and ever since I started getting acne, at age 25, my goal has been to get rid of it and have baby smooth skin.
I have been to many spas and many small places without results.
I always left blotchy with sensitive skin and days after I would still have the redness to testify of a prior facial.
Not with Monique!
A little background about my skin:
I have combination skin (I think) with oily t-​zone and under eye dryness.
I used to have bad acne (to the point that I even got a consultation for laser until they told me the price!) but last year I got pregnant and that pretty much cleared my acne.
However, I was left with: blotchy skin, unevenness, big pores, melasma, dark spots, acne marks, fine wrinkles (I am 31), blackheads. But no active acne! Thank goodness.
What I love about Monique is that she tailored the facial to my needs.
I breastfeed and she took that into consideration since I was worried about the stuff she was going to use on me. She used baby safe stuff :)
You fill out a few forms and then she studies your skin and goes from there.
Monique asked me when I had my last facial and I told her over a year ago, but now I realized I lied and it was more like 2 months ago. I reckon it was so uneventful that I forgot about it.

She didn’t rush… she took her time to do my facial and then explain what were my problems…
what we were going to work on for this month and even gave me a sample of a cream and a do it yourself at home scrub.
Been here only 1 time and my skin looks better than ever!
My pores look smaller, my skin feels smooth/​soft and my blackheads are gone (at least to the visible eye)!
I am hooked and surely will come back once a month!

I’ve been going through some major skin issues lately so I looked on Unilocal for a good facial and found Monique. I just had my first facial with her tonight it was wonderful! She was so nice and extremely helpful. She helped me figure out a good skin care routine to do at home, gave me some samples, and gave me some other advice on helping to clear up my acne. I am excited to implement it all and I will leave another review once I’ve gone a few times to really notice results! However, just after the first time, my skin is already feeling better!

I’ve been coming here for months and I couldn’t be any more satisfied. Monique is highly professional and knowledgeable in the field. I go to her for acne problems and my face is now free of acne. She is now working with me to get rid of the acne scars. Monique definitely personalizes each and every session so that her customers get the best results. Highly recommended! I had her newest package, Supreme Facial and its super worth it! It has everything in it and left my face glowing after. Monique is such a very nice lady, very professional and knowledeable. She will even give you samples of PCA skin products to try it out first. I went back the next day with my mom and she got same package and she loved it as well. The day after that, I took my dad and he had a facial as well. I’ve been suffering from acne for years and have tried dozens of products/​prescription treatments with little to no results. Finally last year I decided to really do something about it. I was ok with having acne for many years because I had accepted the idea that maybe my skin couldn’t get better. I was desperate to find some way to better my complexion and on a whim decided to look up local estheticians. I came across this place with lots of good reviews and decided to try it. BEST DECISION I COULD HAVE MADE. I started going around September last year and have been slowly but surely seeing great results. My skin has truly transformed! Monique is very professional and flexible, she has helped me find products that work for my skin at reasonable prices. She is very knowledgeable about all things related to the skin. She caters to my individual needs and from my first visit made me feel very comfortable. I definitely recommend this place!

Called for same day appointment and Monique was able to accommodate me. I had a huge zit that just needed treated. She’s very gentle, warm and informative. Will def come back. Keep up the good work and great attitude.

At 41 this was my first facial. I have pretty good skin, but Monique is amazing. I couldn’t believe how different you could look just after one treatment. I also love that she doesn’t try to push products on you, because my routine consists of soap and water. She’s so gentle and soft on your face. Can’t wait for my next appointment.

I have been getting facials here for months. In that 6 month period my face has absolutely transformed via, appearance, texture. My face has a glow, and I get compliments often.
Even though this is a nice distance from Long Beach where I reside, it is worth the trip and every dollar. From Monique’s professionalism, experience and warm smile I feel comfortable and at ease in her establishment.
I have gone and paid for higher end spas/​services and received mediocre results. With Bird of Paradise it’s reasonable and the results are amazing.
She is very knowledgeable in her field, and listens to her clients concerns while individualizing a skin care regimen for them.
There’s great follow up, after the service if you have any questions. She has great flexibility to fit your schedule, does mobile facials and overall the BEST by far. No one else is allowed to give me facials. I am so glad that I found her via FB. If you haven’t gotten a facial by her yet, then you haven’t experienced the BEST. Thanks for the glowing skin that makes me feel better about my appearance (very acne prone skin) while receiving a plethora of compliments! Thanks again for all you do!

Monique is AMAZING. I take my skincare VERY seriously, especially being a woman of color/​multi-​ethnic. I know all too well, how going to the wrong facialist can be a costly mistake. I had a great lady in Pasadena, but since moving to the valley, the drive was insane. After doing extensive Unilocal research, I decided on ‘Bird of Paradise,’ and I’m so happy I did. Now, I’ve been all over the city to different places. beverly hills. I’ve seen some of the «best» skin care specialists, who charge HUNDREDS, for below average work, and your lucky if you even see the actual specialist versus an assistant.
Monique is not only great at what she does, but she’s friendly, efficient and honest. Both my husband and myself, received chemical peels and naturally, after 2 days, the peeling started. Since I haven’t had a peel in over a year (due to pregnancy) and my husband hasn’t in over 4 yrs, we were both a little shocked at the initial reaction our faces had. lol. Needless to say, this was all normal, but Monique, being the consummate professional she is, wanted to guarantee that we were happy and okay, so she came to our home, with her portable O2 machine, FREE OF CHARGE, just to give our skin some extra hydration. She also brought over skin care products to assist in our healing. It’s been 9 days, and our skin looks BEAUTIFUL. The last of the peeling is finishing up, and the new skin, is supple, soft and truly looks refreshed.
We couldn’t be happier and plan on staying with Monique. We’ll both be continuing with microderm and also the body scrub that she offers, to buff the dead skin off of your body.

I’ve had MANY facials over the years, and this by far was my favorite. Monique is extremely professional, but also very personable. She took the time to ask about my concerns and thoroughly explained the course of treatment she suggested for my skin type. I’ve had bad facials in the past where they’ve made promises on clearing my skin if I follow their régime and buy their products etc. There are NO guarantees, and it takes time (trial and error) to find the right regimen specific to your skin type.
Please take note that I made a SAME day appointment, which is typically rare for an aesthetician and their limited hours. She kindly accommodated me in the late evening and didn’t rush the process. I genuinely appreciated her time, as I know we all wanna go home when the sun goes down.
It’s quite evident that this is her passion, and just after a few weeks from my treatment, my skin is seeing some improvement. I will continue to see her and will update this review. So far so good.
Lastly, what I appreciate the most is that she did not try to push products on me. I think that’s really important when picking an aesthetician. They either have a quota to meet or try to generalize your skin into a line or products. She actually gave me some generous samples, and i was more than thankful. I especially trust Monique since she works in a medical setting and spoke highly of those that mentored her along the way. She DEFINITELY knows what she’s doing.

Just over two weeks ago I went back to see Monique for a full body chemical peel. So far I’m happy with the results. I know it’s too early to tell the final results as I’m still peeling quite a bit. So far I’m very satisfy with her service and hope to use her gain in the future. I’ve told many people about her and her great prices.
The lady who wrote the negative review about Monique, Christie W, has no idea what she is talking about. She is full of hot air. Someone who had a bad day (or life) and needed someone to take it out on. There is nothing ghetto about Monique’s office space. Sure it’s no Beverly Hills luxurious suite, but it’s no south central falling apart building either. I felt perfectly comfortable and safe in the building and driving around the near by streets. The building and her place is clean and kept in good condition. Her place is small but comfortable, clean, and well decorated. I did not have a problem being there or with her at all. To the contrary, she made me feel very comfortable the whole time. She is easy to talk to and get along with.
A huge plus for me was that this was my first chemical peel ever, and anytime I had a question she would reply to my questions a short period of time later. And I have to say that I did have a lot of questions for her. Her customer support is superb! The caption of one of her pictures say…“When my clients need me im there!” Boy she is not kidding.
