Beul Pocha is pretty low-key, but it does its job. They have decent happy hour deals, which run for a while(I think it was until 10pm). I didn’t try any of their food, but I probably won’t expect anything outstanding, considering it’s a bar. They have a pretty good selection of alcohol, and I was happy with that. It can get a bit rowdy inside, with the loud music and people trying to drunk-talk over each other. But overall, it’s an atmosphere that you’d expect from a Korean pocha. Parking wasn’t a hassle because we came when it wasn’t too busy, but it might be a problem during peak hours. The lot is small, and there’s no valet parking – if you can’t find a spot, you’d have to find street parking elsewhere.

I haven’t been to many pubs in ktown, but this place is really good overall 1. No valet parking. We had plenty of space in the mall parking lot to park our car. Unlike everywhere else in ktown, free parking!!! 2. 50% happy hour 5−10pm. Most of the dishes were under $ 20 and the fruit soju(good day) were $ 14. With 50%, four of us with 2 bottles of soju and 3 main dishes came about to $ 50. WHAT A STEAL for a girls night out 3. Free bottle of soju. When the waiter came back with the check, he offered us a new bottle of soju to take home. It’s not the ones you find in stores– it’s the kind that’s only in these stores. 4. Service and ambiance overall was great. Kpop playing in the background with artsy decorations inside. My favorite was the bottled lights on the ceiling!

This place is nice decorated. It’s a typical Korean bar kind of atmosphere. I take one star off because it was so cold inside. It kind of ruined a bit of the experience because we were freezing. On the plus side every once in a while they give you free soju on the house! That was awesome. The corn cheese here was the best i have had. The crispy rice soup was good also. The spicy chicken wasn’t that good tho.

One of my favorite low-key ktown bars. Happy hour seems to last forever and I always drink enough to feel like I’m getting an amazing deal. I brought my girlfriend here and feeling like we just wanted to chill, we stuck with makeoli(rice wine). I looove how they have sang makeoli since some ktown bars do not have this. Soon after, they brought out service soup for us to pick at while drinking. Two bottles later, the cost was only around $ 16. I’ve tried the food here on other occasions but it was a-ok. It’s just bar food so don’t plan to eat a fancy meal here, obviously, but it’s nice to come with a group to share anju. To bring a date to impress… not quite. One thing that sucks… parking. The lot is tiny so most people will have to park on the street, competing with Road to Seoul bbq parkers. Do not park in the lot because it closes early, at 10pm, and if you drink past then… good luck getting your cars.

Happy hour beers and sundae stir fried!!! It’s a little spicy, but I love me some spicy Korean food. It was a little busy when I got here and stayed that way. There might be a little wait, but it seems to be a first round spot. All in all. It really feels like I’m at a Korean«pub» minus the overly loud music and smoke. :-) I will visit this place a again!

Service was a little less than mediocre and the food was so salty, you couldn’t even wash it away with alcohol. The only thing good about this place was its free parking and happy hour prices. I do admit, the galbi-jjim(braised beef ribs) were fantastic, though still on the salty side.

WARNING– RACISTESTABLISHMENT!!! If I could give 0 stars, I would. This business illegally sells alcohol past 2am but they have the false idea that foreigners are the cause of all potential problems so if you are not Korean, dont even waste your time. I watched them let in groups and then break them up, having the bouncer walk out the one non-korean in the party and tell them that they are the only one that cannot stay. smart business? heck no! The sad thing is it wasnt once or twice, this happened all night! All it takes is one drunk Korean to cause a scene, or one undercover Korean to show up and ruin this party. I forsee this place getting shut down soon to be honest. Piss off enough people and you will get reported, bottom line. We had to ask the waitors what is going on and not only were they rude about it, but they actually admitted that the owner watches the camera and if they let a non-korean in, they get in trouble. wow, SHADYSHADY. I felt bad for the bouncer because him being a minority as well felt bad but what can he do, hes not the owner. If you are selling alcohol illegally and want to be selective amongst people you know, fine, but dont be blatantly racist towards everyone non korean. Just don’t come here and support this wrong business principle.

HAPPYHOUR: 50% before 10PM, and 30% off after. Free parking, but can get packed easily. Street parking isn’t so difficult to find in the neighborhood though. Bokbunjajoo plum wine: On the bottle it said it was black raspberry wine. So sweet and delicious and at 15% alcohol content. Fruit platter with Lychee and peaches: Canned peaches, and I’m gonna assume canned lychees as well. Not worth the price. Is it that difficult to cut fresh fruit? Popcorn chicken: Heavily breaded and fried, but was really crunchy. Too much breading covering not enough chicken for my taste. My friend said this was typical of Korean chicken though, instead of having a barely there coating like Taiwanese popcorn chicken a la Tenrens or Tea Station. Pretty big portion though! Also ordered a soju, and 6 sake bombs. Total split between 3 people, it was only $ 22! Not that bad.

Faced with an hour long wait across the street at KogiKing, a friend and I decided to stop here for a pre-meal drink. We didn’t order much: makgulli and leek pancake but the servers were still super friendly and didn’t ignore us in favor of parties who spent more. There also is a bell but we didn’t seem to need it: just raising your hand or asking a server passing by did the trick. The leek pancake was surprisingly pretty good and even though the server shook our makgulli for us, I should’ve verified that it was shaken well: there was still a giant sludge mass at the end of the bottle so that was kind of nasty. «Happy hour» is basically all the time: 50% off before 10PM and 30% off after. We stopped by at 9 and our two items costed about $ 16. Not shabby. If I was out drinking, I probably wouldn’t really think of Byul just ’cause the location is a little random but I’d definitely be happy to stop by if anyone suggested it.

REPOST because there’s another Unilocal page for this venue under the name«Beul Pocha» I think I’ve found my bar-to-go in LA Hats off to the waiter and waitress who answered our requests with the utmost patience and enthusiasm. If there’s one thing Korean bars need more of, it’s better customer service, and beul pocha delivered. Beul pocha also delivers a wide variety of excellent drinking foods at an affordable price(50% off before 10pm wut). Holy shit, the nooloongjee seafood soup is a MUST… so satisfying to take a shot of soju then gulp it down with a spoonful of dat soup. MMMMMMM This place earns my seal of perfection. 8 out of 5 stars. Also to note that the bar looks like an actual po-cha(Korean portable drinking spots) so that you can maximize your Korean experience

THISPLACEISMYSECRET. You will not be able to find this place if you can’t read the sign in Korean and all the windows are blacked out, so GOODLUCK. But. if you do find it… 50% off all food(used to be all drinks too, boo) until 9 p.m. Get the: — BOSSAM — Soft steamed pork belly, where you wrap it in fresh garlic, picked radish, and cabbage. It’s half freakin’ off, and so delicious. — KIMCHIPASTA — In my opinion, the best kimchi pasta in ktown. The kimchi pasta beats Nandarang and Café Bleu. Linguini noodles in spicy, tart, and creamy pasta sauce. It’s very delish. — KIMCHIPAJUN — Kimchi pancake, no brainer. Deliciously tart and savory — WINGS — they’re marinated with spicy marinade, I personally like the sauce on the side instead of mixed in. Warning, do not over order on spicy items. Byul tends to make all their soups and dishes pretty spicy, so ordering every spicy dish won’t leave you with a pleasant feeling afterwards. Korean bar food scene at its best. Spicy cheap food, overflowing soju, smoking indoors(NOT a fan of this. Also why do girls smoke in the bathroom? Disgusting IMO), only located in the outskirts of KTOWN.

Byul pocha is a casual korean bar you can come anytime of the day. Please note thay they recently started opening at 3:00PM and they give out free yulmoo makgooksoo(young radish kimchi noodle soup). They are pretty packed when theres dodgers game playing because of Ryu and also during the late night. I believe before 9:00PM they have happy hour which is 50% off and after 9:00PM is 30% off which is still a very good deal. I havent tried that many food here because I always get the samething: Stir fried large intestine. It comes with garlic and sesame leaves as well. It is somewhat small portion and a little pricy for the portion but with the happy hour discount, it is worth it. Waiters and waitesses are very fast and attentive. Oh, there are TVs all around the bar, usually playing Korean music videos when it’s not Dodgers game day.

Author’s Note: There’s some weird veneer that covers the entire façade of the restaurant from the ceiling to floor and this includes the doorways too. Said covering also has loud and gaudy advertising on it which only further dulls the senses. This will make more sense in a minute: «Wh… where the fuck is the door?» I said out loud to myself as I clumsily grasped for the handle to enter the establishment. After four or five tries, I was able to secure access to the restaurant which was pretty much my only quibble of the night… Have to admit I got a good laugh when my friend arrived fifteen minutes later and texted me, «where’s the entrance?» but she was a little flustered as well. Despite the shaky start, everything else was solid and the 50% off happy hour specials from 5pm-10pm everyday made for a very budget friendly night out in Ktown. Interesting selection of beers too: we went all cosmopolitan and shiet and got the Korean raspberry wine and Stella Artois cider. First time ever trying the latter but the Stella’s crisp, bold flavors were reminiscent of apple picking in the spring and that longing look you got from your 6th grade crush as she walked back to her seat in third period after playing a rousing game of M.A.S.H.(Mansion/Apartment/Shack/House) with you. As you can see, I’m trying to interject more allegory and food critic-esque writing in my narratives. We also ordered the fried dumplings, the kimchi pancake and the spicy pork dish and everything was surprisingly tasty. The portion sizes — even during the 50% happy hour — were generous as well opposed to the many Ktown establishments that have been recently decreasing their plate sizes to accommodate smaller servings. The demographic ranged in age from mid 20’s to grizzled old Korean men, but in a way it added to the charm of the place. Definitely adding this to the rotation of Ktown bars I frequent.

FREE parking, 50% off happy hour until 10PM, lots of TVs, fast service… what more needs to be said? AMBIANCE: Granted, this place isn’t hip and happening. The customers throughout the night was a mix of 20-somethings and older ajusshis, but I look more for good deals and good food than rowdy, slizzard college kids. FOOD: We ordered a pitcher and fried gizzards and got a complimentary pot of dried pollock soup, typical hangover soup. Service was attentive, drinks kept flowing, my baby boys the Dodgers won, and it was a good night. I wanted to keep this place on the down-low but the prices are too good not to share!

My memory was slightly blurry the end of the night I came here. Few soju shots later I realized we kept ordering more and more food. It was pretty damn good. You can’t really find this place unless you could read Korean. I found Byul Pocha thanks to my lovely alcoholic(:P) friend who frequents this place. It’s located in a plaza on the corner. If you’re a foodie photo whore like me then I would recommend the watermelon balls. They’re pretty refreshing after drinking shots of soju.

HH50% off!!! Why do I like this place so much? Good food? Check Good variety? Check. They have almost everything you could ever want in a beer pub. Sports bar? Check. They had Monday night football on several flat screens one night. Nice servers? of course! Good parking? YEP! Can we say NOVALET? It wasn’t really that crowded because I think it’s more on the outskirts of Ktown. But no matter, I hope the masses stay away =) They are the same owners as the Byul BBQ so they know good food. Oh, and the best part? ICECOLDBEER ½ OFF During their generous Happy Hour. Can’t wait to go back!

Byul Pocha, I love you but I hate you. I enjoyed a crap load of food at 50% off while drinking like prohibition is going to start again. Our waiter was really hot and they allowed me to smoke(yes I smoke when I’m drunk, don’t judge me) inside and ash on sliced oranges on the table. I tragically gained 4 lbs from this obscenity of a meal and have no one to blame but myself. So in case you don’t know, pocha is a Korean sit down drinking restaurant. You order your choice of either beer, soju, Korean flavored wine, or makgeolli. Byul Pocha is unique in that it actually has several beer on tap. They don’t just have Korean beer either because my friend successfully ordered a blue moon for $ 5 a glass. We also downed 3 bottles of makgeolli, which came to about $ 20. The drinks are definitely not all that cheap but the price is reasonable. The food, however, is a great deal at 50% discount if you arrive… before 10? The menu says 50% before 10pm but we ordered 2 additional dishes before 9pm and only received 30% off while the ones we ordered at 7:15 were 50% off. Most dishes are about $ 12-$ 15 and are large enough to share so half off at $ 6-$ 8 is a great deal. I really like the kimchi tofu, the rakbokki, and the skewered bacon-wrapped rice cake. We ordered the seafood pancake, spicy pan fried squid, and fried chicken wings too and those were just okay. We finished all the food with no leftovers between 3 people and felt thoroughly disgusting afterwards. The plus about this place is if you arrive early, it’s pretty empty. They also have a free lot so you save a few bucks on the valet. I didn’t enjoy the fact that they insisted on putting Women’s Softball World Championship on ALL the TVs, of which there are many, until we finished watching the Japanese kicked the US’s ass before they would change it to something else.

This place is awesome! It’s kind of a ktown secret in the sense that it’s in a poorly frequented shopping plaza and doesn’t get much of the usual young traffic like Gaam or Toebang. I’ve been a couple times now and there’s always parking in their free lot(crazy for LA). There are older adults and younger college kids alike in the place, so the crowd is pretty diverse(mostly korean though, but hey, no shock there). The service is super efficient and that prices are awesome. They have 50% off happy hour from late afternoon till 10PM, and then 30% off until 1AM. The food is actually pretty decent, and the unlimited kong namuhl gook is pretty bomb. That and they’re not stingy about service so order a lot and then ask for some hook ups. Hopefully they won’t go out of business like the previous management here(Bicycle). Be sure to check it out so we can keep this awesome place.

In Koreatown the party never stops so why should you let a 2AM curfew stop you from having all the fun. Trust me, there are plenty of people working in LA till 2AM that need to eat and hang out. For them, their night begins there. I assume this venue is somehow related to Byul Daepo aka Star BBQ(6th Street in LA, Ardmore Ave in LA, or Garden Grove Blvd in Garden Grove) or they’re just using the name to get customers due to familiarity. The setup is fairly simple. Two tables to your left as you enter and the remaining portion of your dining area to the right. Restrooms and kitchen towards the back. I usually get here after 2AM when my buddies get off work at that time. The service is great but I think this happens cause they know the peeps who work here. It’s like all the servers and waiters in Koreatown attend the SAME weekly Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Someone knows somebody and he’s jocking her while she’s hooking up with him and all that nonsense. I tell ya… The food is actually better than I thought. I ordered the Boo Dae Jigae cause you generally can’t go wrong with this dish almost anywhere. Check out this link if you have no idea what the hell I’m talking about( ). I haven’t tried the other stuff but I assume it’s going to be decent. As I mentioned, the service is quick and the waiters are generous and fast. If the crowd enjoys it here, I’m all about going with the flow. PS. you can smoke all you want inside and they definitely hook you up past 2AM.
