We sell artwork by local artists and have Raven & Lily fair trade items.

History

Established in 2009.

First opening next to the Echo in 2009, we moved to a larger space 3 blocks away between the Gold Room and BofA on Sunset in Echo Park.

We are now opening a second shop in the Del Mar Station Pasadena!

Over the years we’ve fostered wonderful relationships from all parts of greater Los Angeles.

Aaron & framing partner, Christa «The Keegs», finally got good ol’ Natalie back full time & have added a few more very dear folks to help serve y’all!

Aaron and his entire staff were fantastic!
Most importantly, my framed etching came out magnificently!
He immediately chose 3 beautiful frame options with different price points. The one we went with so perfectly fits the colors and style of the print.
Not only did they do an amazing job, but they got it done in time for Christmas when they were so busy with holiday orders.

Let’s get this out of the way, Ballard’s is great. I had a couple of prints framed there and each time was fortunate to have Aaron help me. Going in, I had a couple ideas of how I wanted it to look but was also open to suggestions. Aaron did not disappoint and came up with some really great ideas. He was very patient and had some really good suggestions and also educated me, which was helpful. I still use the technique he showed me to view possible framing options! He’s also just a really nice guy, he’ll talk to you about art/​have suggestion for art shows to check out or even where to get breakfast in the neighborhood. The price was comparable to other places but ultimately I feel it’s worth it going with Ballard’s because what they strive for is to make sure you get the last frame you’ll ever need for the particular piece you brought in. Also, the really great suggestions you wouldn’t have even thought of that will really make your art stand out. I’ve been incredibly satisfied with the results and found myself wondering what some other prints I’ve had framed previously at other places would look like with the Ballard’s touch. Unfortunately, I’ve left Los Angeles recently and won’t have the pleasure to go back there and hope my future prints don’t suffer too much. Like I said, Ballard’s is great.

At long last, I stopped in to get a few cherished items framed. I have no art skill or creativity. The team asked what I had in mind and what my taste was. They created some amazing matting designs that fit the art and my place perfectly. They asked for my input and thoughts along the way. All at a solid price. Very well done. Now I can hang my pieces with pride.

beautiful framing done at fair prices. they give discounts to artists and do a professional and punctual job. they are patient and even provide their aesthetic input on the frame choice. only downside is they don’t accept american express. which would really be beneficial when working with small business /​freelancers.

I am very grateful that I decided to walk into Ballard’s with a very important print that was given to my girlfriend by the photographer on her birthday the year before. I had been waiting to frame it until I could frame it right and made one more stop at Michaels to see if they could give me a deal — the person behind the counter told me that he’d have to do all sorts of things to the print to make it work and other stuff that freaked me out. When I walked into Ballard’s I met with the guy who was working (forgot his name, Sorry) and the experience was totally different. He spread out the print on the table, studied the image, and made some supremely intuitive and wonderful suggestions for the frame and helped me figure out a way to keep the cost reasonable — which it was. Long and short of it, the print is framed beautifully, no weird stuff needed to be done to it, it is protected under UV coated glass, and I felt like it was treated like the treasure that it is — to me and more importantly my girlfriend. Who cried a bit when I showed it to her. Out of joy. I am about 98% certain that the tears would have been of a different variety if I chose to get it framed at the other spot. — Long & short of it: If you have something that is precious to you and want to get framed don’t mess around with other spots — come here to work with folks who really are good at and love what they do. Win win. Recommend.

We are so thankful that we happened upon Ballard’s on Unilocal when we were looking frame two oil on canvass pieces. Aaron was such a kind and patient professional, helping us explore different options for our pieces, without being pushy in any way.
When we finally decided on something that worked for us, we were pleasantly surprised that the price was very competitive compared to other custom framers that we had visited.
When we picked up our pieces, they looked amazing and we were very happy with the product. Aaron even informed us that we were entitled to a small refund because the cost of the materials was less than quoted — enough to buy lunch!
In my mind, Ballard’s embodies local, honest, quality business and I would happily recommend them to anyone looking to frame something or to just get ideas about what they could do with their art.

It’s ridiculous I haven’t left a review for this guy because I can’t say enough about how great this place is! We had a picture framed here a long time ago and I’ve been holding on to everything else that needs framing until we can afford to take it to Ballard’s. Given the quality of work the prices are excellent so I’m not complaining. The print we bought in was slightly damaged and the owner spent at least half an hour with us figuring out the best way to mount it and preserve it. If you have photos or artwork you value, this is the spot.

With a 30×45 print, we had to invest in custom framing which was much more expensive than I thought. My first stops were Michaels & Aaron Brothers, both of which quoted me over $ 300 (with coupons!). Eek. Ultimately, I went with Ballard’s Artwork Framing in Los Angeles. Aaron Ballard came highly recommended to me by Max Wanger and after reading Aaron’s Unilocal reviews, I knew I wanted to at least meet him and get a quote. Aaron quoted us at $ 214.11 so it seemed like a no-​brainer to get it framed by him! We paid for the project and (not-​so-​patiently) waited… Our project due date was September 4th, but Aaron hand-​delivered it to our condo 2 days earlier. We were so impressed especially because Aaron’s shop was unfortunately ruined by mold & he had to have all of his floors ripped out! So getting our project done ahead of time was unbelievable. We were very grateful. That’s true customer service!!! Thank you, Aaron.

These guys are the epitome of a great small business. Amazing service and a great product at a price that is less than the big chains. They offer a sliding price scale based on how big of a hurry you’re in. All of the staff I’ve dealt with have a great eye for combining materials (frame, mat, art) to create a beautiful finished product. There are places closer to my house, but I wouldn’t go anywhere else in LA.

Wonderful establishment. The customer service was at an all time high. It is a smaller establishment so one-​on-​one time with the frame crafters is not too much to ask for. They make sure to ask you all of the right questions to help make your time framing creative and successful. Depending on what you are looking for determines the price of course, but overall, they have decent pricing.
I am not an consistent framer (this is actually my first time) but I did came here to get the estimates on the making of a shadow box, and while I didn’t purchase the shadow box from here, after all of my research, they have pretty competitive prices. You get what you pay for and I would recommend paying whatever the price is for great custom framing.
Thank you for leading me in the right direction and giving me information that ultimately helped make my framing experience more successful.

I’ve had a few prints and artwork pieces sitting on my shelf for years, that I’ve meant to get framed. It isn’t laziness — it’s the fact that many shops that do artwork framing don’t work with my banker’s hours work schedule. Half of them aren’t even open on the weekends, at all. Ballard’s is right down the street from where I live now, and I was stoked to see that they, A., stay open till past 5:00 or 6:00pm, and B., are open on Saturdays. So, off I went.
They had nice selections of frames and they helped me pick out a perfect one for my Natalia Fabia print. The owner of the store is very pleasant, friendly, and low-​key. Two weeks or so later, I came to pick up my artwork. It looks excellent!
When I picked it up, they explained how they charge for their services — how the owner used to work for Aaron Brothers, and rather than relying on coupons to keep their prices reasonable, they’ve set up a more efficient system.
I was quite happy with their work and I will definitely return, the next time I want to get artwork framed!
