First time here at Avalon. The music was LIT on a Sunday night and the place was pretty packed… more so that I thought… I guess its because of the MLK long weekend!!! There was 4 or more Djs that was playing that night at the venue. They would change DJs every so often. There’s the main stage on the 1st floor. Second floor, there were two different DJs at different places. One at a smaller room and the other near the bar on the hallway. I was pretty surprised that there were so many different djs at one venue. The Djs were at the main stage were playing a lot trap EDM which I really like. People dancing, jumping up and down. There were more guys than girls when I went. I didn’t see a lot of Asians there either… which was kinda a bummer lol. But it was fun anyways! Venue: The venue is big. There’s two floors. The second floor is mainly seating area… like theater seats. There are a lot of seats so you don’t have to wait or fight to sit down. Dress code: I saw a lot of people wearing pretty casual clothing. Not many girls wear high heels or «club» dresses. Parking: we paid $ 10 for a farther parking. one block away. I saw that there was a closer parking to the venue that charged $ 15. Bathrooms: clean and well maintained throughout my stay. No urine stains or unknown liquids on the toilet seats. yay! There’s restrooms upstairs and downstairs. I would come back again for sure!

This was my first time at this venue and I would describe my experience as definitely A-OK. I went for one of their events featuring a few DJ’s. Parking was convenient, right across the street. The catch? It was $ 20. Typical for LA parking, but if you’re okay with driving around a bit more, paying for metered parking, and walking a bit further, you can try driving down Vine and hope you get lucky. Getting into the venue itself was organized and easy. Inside the venue, there was a lower and upper level. The lower level had two bars and the upper level had one bar. Considering this is a club, the drinks actually weren’t too shabby. Except, $ 14 for a specialty cocktail in an 8oz plastic cup? It hurt paying for it. My suggestion, go to The Redbury next door and have a few drinks at the bar. At least it makes more sense to pay for a $ 14 cocktail there. I will say though, my cousin ordered nachos at the bar and they were BOMB. I would have rather ordered that than a drink. But I think that’s the foodie in me. Maybe because of the type of event, it wasn’t as crowded as I thought it would be, but I enjoyed it because there was room to dance and I was getting stepped on or having drinks spilled on me. I would come back only if there was an event I really wanted to attend, but I think I could live without the $ 20 parking and overpriced cocktails. But the nachos though…

So far the best club in LA. I’m surprised that I never wrote a review for them. The music is great and I love they have different levels and you get to sit down. I haven’t been there for over two years but hopefully I get to go again soon.

Avalon was where my night of debauchery concluded. It’s been a while since I’ve been to this place, and my buddy and I decided to come here because Infected Mushroom was playing that night. We checked online and it indicated that tickets were sold out, and VIP was no longer available. We took the gamble anyway and showed up at the door. Lucky us, we got in with no problem. We waited at the front of the line for about 5 minutes. Cover charge was $ 42($ 40 if you pay cash), and drinks were decent here. We went up to the second floor, where there was plenty of seating. The show as awesome, and Infected Mushroom has now become another favorite band of mine. The sound system here is as great as I remember it, and the lighting effects were pretty good too. The crowd was a mix of a wide array of people. The staff was super friendly, and it was a fun ambient. Now I remember why I used to come here so often back in the day. I will be back to check out their other events.

I came here for THEMOTH event and it was awesome. The place is beautiful, spacious, clean, and they set it up really well. The food was actually not pricey at all and the food they offered was fairly good. They had a great menu though it only had like 5 – 7 items on it. I was very pleased that it wasn’t just chips and desserts, but real food. They had 2 bars and the whole venue is just very nice. I would definitely come back again for another event. Parking in that area is pricey because it is Hollywood. It was $ 20.

I went on a Thursday. Ordered a white gummy bear on bottom floor and paid 11, bought a second one upstairs and paid 15… pricing makes no sense. They filled up the 6 oz cup w ice the probably fave me 2.5 oz of the actual drink… like…really tho… Second floor played hoodrat music and it was hot as fuck, make up melting hot n sweaty. Bottom floor was cold. Filled with baby faced individuals. It was a 18+ night This place is really small and im amazed at how i could hear people talk, clubs should be hella loud. yelling while dancing should be a thing.

I went to Tiger Heat on a Thursday night due to my friends’ persistence. I have to say, it was not as terrible as I thought. I came in with pretty low expectations but it turned out to be a pretty fun night. So we got in five minutes after 11 and it was $ 12 to get in. Before 11, is $ 6 but we just barely missed it because we got pulled over(another story in itself). Bit stingy to not let us slide at the $ 6, but fine, whatever. Policy is policy. Got inside, the place is pretty huge. Bars by the dance floor and as soon as you walk in. I did not even bother ordering a drink to let you know how overpriced everything is. All I found out is that water is $ 3, so stay thirsty, my friends. Music was pretty popping– kind of went all over the place with a trend towards EDM and top 40. I believe it was supposed to be Alesso night, so there should be more EDM in that case. Lots of go go dancers, lots of lights, lots of security. Lots of guys, as it was Tiger Heat. Everyone’s pretty friendly and willing to dance, so it’s a good vibe. Overall, decent place to go to and I had a lot of fun. But it’s sort of a drag and I feel obligated to stay here the entire night so that kills me. Also, it’s 18+ on Thursdays and I felt almost old being one of the few people with a wristband in my immediate area. Overall, a good place to go every once and awhile but not the move every week.

This club’s architect is pretty impressive. It is also very spacious with different levels inside and the restrooms are kept really clean. Only problem, wayyyy too many creeps! The ratio of men to woman was 4 – 1. There were hardly any females when we came here on Friday, and the ethnicity of men is mostly foreigners. And these guys seriously have a hard time taking«no thank you» for an answer. It got pretty uncomfortable when I would turn around and see a flock of foreign guys just standing there staring at us like robots. Next time I come by Hollywood I will definitely skip this place and check out another club.

I went there a few week ago. It wasn’t that nice than I heard. It looked big when I just got into the place but the main stage was actually not that big. Also one security guard was very rude when we asked something. I will never go back there. Go to supper or playhouse. You will have way more fun than this place.

So many things to say about this club!!! =PROS= Spacious: one of the bigger night clubs I’ve been to in LA. I think it’s bigger than exchange but it’s hard to tell because exchange just gets so packed! Decorations: pretty classy. LED panels are huge and span all three walls. They should work on their laser lights though. Cleanliness: bathrooms were well attended. Staff was going around cleaning up drinks and making sure the dance floor wasn’t too sticky. Attire: no need to dress to impress. You can come in sandals or wear converse shoes if you really wanted to. Painless night out for the ladies! =CONS= CREEPYDUDES. I don’t know, I feel like you can find creepy guys anywhere, at any club. But the guys here can’t take no for an answer or something. I was sitting on a lounge chair and this guy comes up to me and kept whispering in my ears and stuff. Dude, gross. I told him I had a boyfriend and then he goes«oh I can help you find your boyfriend» and KISSESMEONTHECHEEK. It took me scooting down the lounge chair away from him, telling him to leave me the f*ck alone(three times), and calling my friends on the phone for him to walk away. Also this lady sat down next to me to watch out for me. She scared off some Brazilian guys right after this one. I love her lol. Pray to based God Avalon attracts a better crowd eventually because the club itself was not too bad.

The Avalon is an historic landmark open since the 1920’s. Many bands have played here, including the Beatles. Also, television shows have been filmed here. It now functions as a night club of sorts and is home to different events, including the Hollywood Beer and Music Festival. This venue is not a huge space, but it is large enough to accommodate a band on-stage with a dance floor and adequate seating. The acoustics are nice and the lighting is a bit on the dim side. It gives the feeling of stepping back in time.

Great venue with great sound system and lights. Door prices can get to be pretty expensive at about 30 dollars but they usually have presale tickets or free promotional tickets. So do take advantage of those unless you’re willing to fork over big cash. There is plenty of space and the main dance floor is always at a great volume. Even if it gets too packed there are two other djs mixing their own tracks in adjacent rooms. All around there is a good vibe and people are generally nice. The staff aren’t rude besides this one bartender that shot me a dirty look for asking for a cup of ice. I got it but I don’t know why she was so mad. They are quick to clean up spills as well so it’s usually not a slip and slide down there. Great place for EDM especially trap music. If you stand by the stage that’s right where they have all the bass lines up too so if you’re in for a vibrational ride just stand there. They hire great producers and djs so whatever you’re into you’re bound to have a good time.

Oh the Avalon … I’ve had so many night that I remember and don’t remember here… The Avalon is one of the iconic clubs in LA. As much as people hate on it, most clubs last 2 – 4 years in this city and then they either close or rebrand it. The Avalon has been around FOREVER and even though it can get pretty interesting, it’s still around and they bring in a ton of people every week. It’s the only after-hours place I know of, so if you want to party until 8am, feel free to come on a Saturday night. The breakdown: Thursdays = Tiger Heat(Gay Night). Fridays = Control LA(19+ Night). Saturdays = Avaland(21+ Night) If you’re in your twenties like me, I actually recommend coming on Fridays(there really aren’t that many 19 year olds, if any). There tends to be less of the creepy crowd that everyone normally talks about when they think of the Avalon. Saturdays can be a lot of old people rolling into the early hours of the day. It’s still the most spacious club in LA so if you want room to dance, this is the place to be! They always have it ventilated too so you don’t overheat. If you don’t have a promoter, get there before 11pm so you can get half off the price. Many sites have guest lists where you can add your name! Definitely worth checking out :)

*update* Useful review!!! my previous review still applies. The major difference is that they did a major renovation to this club. Quite impressive. Larger bathrooms and the venue just looks way nicer now. The only thing I don’t like is that they can’t speed up the bpm until 1am so until then, I go upstairs and take a nap. Normally the main DJ don’t go on until around 1230. But Gabriel & Dresden did a 6 ½ hr set the other night and it was just really slow and boring in the beginning of the night. I don’t take any poisons so that might be why I need some extra stimulation. They don’t serve ice cream so sugar is out for me. Finallly around 1:30am they started pumping up the music and I was awake again. I paid $ 40 at the door to get in so they better start spinning some dam good sounds! I missed the 11pm deadline for $ 20 guest list. Make sure to sign up for guest list if there is one! Big name DJs may not have guest lists. Markus Schulz is from Germany and his ticket is already $ 60, he will be here in August I believe. Not sure I’d pay that at such a small venue since I’ve seen him so many times, but might worth it for you. I’m not that crazy. Anymore. I paid $ 90 to see Armin at Spundae, which probably was not worth it but I spent 3 hours in line and I wasn’t about to throw that away by leaving. I did make a lot of new friends. Anyway, make sure you drink like a fish by 2am here at Avalon because after that, you’re stuck with non-alcoholic drinks. At least they have Red Bull. You’ll probably need 5 of those to last til 6am until they start serving drinks again. If you’re still there that long, make sure you get in line early because all the alcoholics will be lined up and you’ll just be waiting forever. FYI, they close up downstairs at around 4 – 5, and shove everyone upstairs on the patio. It’s pretty cool and chill up there. No idea how long that stays open though. By then, I’m already in my bed knocked out. **Parking here is wack. There ain’t no way around it. You can risk street parking. There’s $ 10 parking on Argyle/Hollywood but if something is going on at the theaters, it’ll probably be full and you’re going to be stuck with $ 20 – 35 parking at Avalon. In other words, don’t bring less then $ 100. **They do take credit cards at the door. **They do not allow glow sticks at the door. Hide them. **They do allow lights, gloves, etc. **There are no where to sit downstairs. You’ll have to go upstairs and just chill there, take a nap, no one cares. The best view is upstairs so if you like to use your camera, go upstairs. Tables and chairs downstairs are V.I.P. only. **Girls, bring a pocket Asian fan, or whatever you call those things. **Restrooms, when you walk inside, men on the right side and women are on the left side. If it’s crowded, try upstairs. **Smoking area is on the right side of the venue when walking in, there’s a door to go outside. Should have one closer to the front of stage to the right, where you enter to go backstage. OK I didn’t intend to write that much lol bye.

I came here last weekend for the annual Morrissey Convention. This is a really nice venue with plenty of space, bars and bathrooms for everyone. The entire place was recently renovated. Let me tell you, they did an excellent job. There are a set of bathrooms downstairs a couple of bars. By the stage you have even more bars. There were people constantly cleaning and picking up cups all night. If you go upstairs, there are really nice vip looking bathrooms. They are kind of hidden and it’s great so you don’t have to wait in line. There’s even a little area that is technically the patio where people were smoking. I was just super impressed that everything was so clean and everyone working the event was amazing!

Definitely overpriced, But still had a lot of fun, it’s a massive club with many rooms. It’s EXTREMELY loud here, there is bass everywhere! in the walls, chairs, bathrooms, maybe even in the drinks. D: I mainly came here to make Reno basic hoes jealous. #yolo
