Armando’s is the(formerly) best kept secret at USC. This truck parks in a lot on the north west side of campus(across the street from the Lyon Center), and sells tacos, breakfast burritos, and all sorts of lunch plates in the morning/afternoon. I think he started coming to campus to serve all the construction workers, but every time I stop by, the line is a mix of the workers and students. The menu is big, and it was almost overload at first. I haven’t had a bad meal yet, and everything is made right there when you order it. Particularly of note for me are all the breakfast options(made all day) – the breakfast sandwiches(like egg, sausage, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo) or the breakfast burritos(potato, egg, cheese, chorizo) are all really filling and really cheap. I also HIGHLY recommend the fish taco; last time I got it the meal took a little longer, but it was easily one of the best I’ve had. Armando’s is also great for future-celebrity watching. Every time I go there, I never fail to see one or two of the football players, stopping by before or after practice to get some food. Armando is one of the nicest guys in the world, calls everyone buddy, and will talk to you all day. Definitely a good option for eating at USC, especially when compared to the overpriced and often lackluster dining options.

Located next LA Carwash Co, Jeremy C. and I discovered it after a movie screening at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery across the street. We were dispersing with the masses, a little buzzed off the bubbly we enjoyed with the movie, when Armando’s caught our eye. «mmm… tacoooosss» we uttered simultaneously. Braving 4 lanes of traffic, we jaywalked across the street for some tacos. We ordered 2 at first. Scarfed those down, then ordered two more. We tried the cabeza, fish, carnitas and lengua. We sort of just haphazardly ordered from the menu printed on the side of the truck. Both of our favorites were the cabeza. We talked to Armando and he was really nice and amused that we kept coming back for more tacos. Apparently Armando is there every night around 10pm till 2am serving yummy Mexican food. Next time I’m in the area late night, I’ll definitely stop by for some tacos.
