Jimmy is the best! Managed to come out on super short notice, talked me through everything he was doing, got the problem solved quickly and for a reasonable price. Recommended!

Jimmy is A GENIUS! Just bought a beautiful, old O’Keefe & Merritt stove and no previous service persons could figure out how to fix the 2 ovens that didn’t work, or the oven door that didn’t shut tight, or a few more minor fixes it needed. I went to Unilocal,found Antique Stove Appliances and Repairs, and looked at all the 5 star reviews about Jimmy’s company. I called him around 5 pm, pretty late in the day, and Jimmy said he would come over as soon as he finished his current job. Within a half hour, Jimmy showed up with his fix-​it bag, and got to work on my stove. He showed me reset buttons, gas lines, and even a few recipes for the griddle! He worked fast, and was so professional, knowledgeable and helpful. Jimmy’s price was very reasonable too. He has been the best workman who has ever come to my home (and I’ve had plenty). Thank you Unilocal for helping me find him. He is a treasure.

Thanksgiving dinner has just been rescued by Jimmy and Johnny! They came out to Long Beach and worked their magic on my O’Keefe and Merritt double-​oven 6-​burner stove, and it now works better than ever! Jimmy also took the time to show me how different parts of the stove and oven work so that I can troubleshoot any little issues myself.

Jimmy is the most knowledgeable, decent guy ever.
He came to my house to fix my old beloved stove/​oven. After describing the problem to him he said most likely I needed a new sensor and something else, plus his home visit. He took a look at it and just tightened the old sensor. Problem solved, no need to replace it or do anything else. He could have very easily told me to replace the part and I would have gone for it, since I know nothing about these stoves. Yet he chose to be honest and charge me just for the visit.
He has calibrated my stove before. He knows what he’s doing. I am keeping my beautiful old stove.

Jimmy Rodriguez is an angel and an incredible resource if you have an antique stove! I’ve had people from the gas company come before and they just didn’t know what to do to correct a few issues. Jimmy showed up just when he promised. He repaired and cleaned my antique Wedgewood stove last week and did a wonderful job. I cannot recommend him more highly than five stars but I’d give him ten if I could.

These guys are awesome. I called early in the week and made an appointment for Saturday. They called when they were 30 minutes out and when they got here, they went right to work checking out my Western Holly stove. They showed me where to clean it and what needed servicing and were done very quickly. I would highly recommend them.

Jimmy was fantastic, very professional and efficient. When I initially called him on a Monday, he said he wouldn’t be able to get to me until Friday and offered to recommend a local repair guy in case I couldn’t wait that long to get my oven working. However, I’d read so many good reviews on him that I decided I’d rather work with him. He was definitely worth the wait! He fixed several problems with my Wedgewood stove including replacing a screw on the oven door so it now closes properly, unclogging the burners so they light consistently and repairing the burner in the oven. He showed me each issue and explained what he was doing thoroughly. On top of all that, the service call fee was very reasonable. Stellar all the way around, and a nice guy to boot.

These guys are great! Very honest, customer friendly. 5 stars is not enough. They made it very easy for us to get our stove working again. Very reasonably priced, prompt and efficient.

Okeefe and Merrit on the fritz in my apartment complex. My regular heater guys said they didn’t have the part and to buy a new stove. That’s when I checked out Unilocal and found Jimmy. Took a picture of the problem and Jimmy diagnosed it, brought a new part with him and fixed the stove. Not to mention I was under a time crunch and he squeezed me in. Even though he was busy, he did not sacrifice quality of time with me or the work. Very experienced and walked me through the whole repair. I will give him all my stove work from now on. I had a classic O’Keefe & Merritt stove with a dead oven and one burner out. After calling two other antique appliance repair companies, I went with Antique Stoves because Jimmy gave me the lowest quote and had a great rating on Unilocal.I can see why — not only did Jimmy come out the same day but he fixed everything for less than his original estimate. He was honest, efficient, prompt and courteous. I’d use him again in a heartbeat.

I checked out Unilocal before servicing my 1948 Okeefe and Merrit with Antique Stove. When I read the consistently high praises Jimmy received i wondered if the reviews were real. I had my chance to find out. YES! Jimmy was fantastic in so many ways: when I called I was offered an appt for the following day. Jimmy confirmed when he was on his way and arrived promptly. He answered all my questions and showed me things i had not known about the stove all while fixing and improving it. I loved being in his presence and watching him work because of his mastery level and his engaging disposition. He was in constant motion and he never missed a thing. He brought with him the two stove parts I had requested, and installed them with ease. The stove was nearly perfect, yet, something was off with the gas flow. Jimmy discovered the gas valve on the house was faulty and due to his guidance I called the gas company immediately, yet the gas company agent did not believe me as i described the problem. Jimmy spoke to the agent on my behalf and due to his insistence, authority and experience, they agreed it was an emergency. The gas company agent arrived in fifteen minutes and concluded the meter was leaking and must be replaced. The story with the gas company gets complicated; over the next 24 hours there was much chaos in eventually replacing the new gas valve and gas regulator.
The important part of my retelling this is how Jimmy stayed on site with me until the gas company arrived to make sure I was safe and to explain the problem to the gas company representative. He went above and beyond with care and action and even followed up by calling me a week later to make sure everything worked out ok.
A little background to the story: i had called the gas company three times in the previous months to fix what smelled like a gas leak. Each time they turned the gas off and then back on and assured me the problem was not in their equipment but in mine and that i had repairs to do. I had done all the repairs they suggested when the smell continued, but they did not believe me. I am so grateful that Jimmy was the person I picked to service the stove, it was because of his patience, knowledge, care and dedication that the underlying problem was discovered, resolved and the gas company finally took responsibility. No Kaboom! YAY! Thank you so much Jimmy!

Jimmy was amazing! Saved me $ 500 walking me through what ended up being a 5 minute repair. Another company said I needed a new valve for oven to work and Jimmy said lets try a couple of things over the phone and he got my stove working right away and it was no cost to me! Amazing!!!

Jimmy is the most reasonable priced stove man in SoCal. I have been using him for about 10 years and love him. He is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and a treasure to have. I honestly couldn’t be happier! My lame home warranty company decided my stove was unrepairable and wanted to get me a crappy cheap new stove instead. I called Jimmy and he was over within two days. He fixed my stove for less than my warranty company will pay for a new stove and he was such a gem to have over. He’s the kind of guy you would invite to stay for dinner. He was totally fine (even entertaining) with my 2 year old who insisted on «helping». My stove works better than before the oven stopped as he also cleared grunge out of the burners and they all light automatically now (haven’t since I moved into the house). I’m delighted!

I had an unfortunate experience dealing with the owner of this stove repair shop. I had set up an appointment for an in-​home oven repair one week in advance. When I called the day of the appointment to ask when he planned to come by, the owner, Jimmy, indicated that he hadn’t written down my information the prior week. No problem, I gave it to him again. Upon being asked what the issue was, I explained in a bit of detail that the pilot for the oven was still alit, and I wanted to go on to say that it was the burner that wasn’t igniting, but was interrupted with the words «THE OVEN DOESN’T WORK.» I said I was sharing details to help him (with diagnosing the problem, bringing the right parts, etc.), then interrupted me again, repeating, «THE OVEN DOESN’T WORK. I’VE BEEN IN THIS BUSINESS FOR THIRTY YEARS.» Why, then would you ask me what the issue was? Then and there I decided not to give this man my business.
I know we all sometimes wake up on the wrong side of the bed. That does not make it OK to speak to customers that way. Jimmy, you sounded ill, and I hope you get better. Next time you’re feeling under the weather, take a few days off.
Update: Jimmy contacted me to make amends. I am not sure if it is a result of reading this or not, but he clearly cares about keeping a good reputation for his business. I would give him 4 stars, or even 5, if I knew for sure that he called for its own sake and not because of Unilocal.He was also kind enough to spend time on the phone to walk me through getting the broiler working again. And for that, I appreciate his service, and would consider working with him in the future. Merry Christmas Jimmy!

The oven in my vintage O’keefe & Merritt stove stopped working in the midst of Thanksgiving baking last week. Jimmy had been out once before about a year ago to tune it up and do some re-​chroming work to make it shine. He also found matching handles to replace the broken ones on the oven and drawer. I was very impressed with that service. So I knew who to call when the oven died.
He came today, the day after I contacted him, and not only fixed the problem in a few minutes without having to use any replacement parts, but he took the time to make sure I knew exactly what to do if it ever happens again (clean out the pilot light ports). The charge was only for the minimum service call and it includes a 3 month guarantee.
He is simply the best, and one of the nicest people you will ever meet.
And, in case you are wondering, there was no Turkey involved as all the guests on Thanksgiving were vegetarians. We successfully cooked a large casserole in my gas grill out on the deck.

We have a 1950s O’Keefe & Merritt range that was given to us about 30 years. We never had it repaired, so of course by now it was in poor shape. Half the time we didn’t know if the oven would turn on. I did a lot of homework on refurbishing ranges and picked Antique Stove in Culver City. They have fair prices and good reviews. Jimmy picked it up and returned a few weeks later. I could not believe it was the same stove. It is pristine. We had a custom made area in our kitchen for it 20 years ago. It looks and more important, works great. Thanks Jimmy.

Jimmy is INCREDIBLE. THE BEST. He customized an O’Keefe & Merritt for me. Everyone who comes to the house goes nuts over it. So shiny and classic and beautiful!

I inherited my O’Keefe and Merrit stove when I moved into my house. It always seemed to work fine, but recently, I’d been having some problems with it so I thought I should get a new one. But my mother-​in-​law was in town and said older stoves like mine have a great value and we should just try to get it repaired.
Jimmy drove out (from Riverside!) to come help us. He was late because of traffic, but once he got here, everything was worth it. In fact, I was out of the house and he worked with my mother-​in-​law and he showed her how to do everything. He fixed the dial so that our oven would light properly. (He had the parts already in his car.) He showed my mother-​and-​law how to lift up the top of our stove so we could clean it.
All in all, they were fantastic. If something breaks down on this stove, I definitely know who to call. And maybe I’ll be home this time.
