Just want to thank the woman behind the counter for not letting another woman use the restroom in a «lady emergency» unless I purchased a full meal. Thanks for the help! Seriously? I don’t even resemble a junkie.

I needed a couple of last minute birthday cakes for same day pick-up, and the reviews here seemed promising. Went in around 12 pm to order and it was semi-busy so I waited by the cakes. Ended up placing an order for 2, 8 inch round cakes, 1 «regular» cake with pineapple filling and the other was full chocolate with strawberry filling. They do charge an extra $ 2 for strawberry, which I was perfectly fine with. No added fees for banana, pineapple, or peach fillings, FYI. I came back an hour later to pick them up and they were ready to go. In total it was $ 46 for both cakes(around $ 20 ish each) and it’s cash only but there is an ATM inside. They looked fine, nothing spectacular but I was definitely happy to get them with such short notice. Now, on to the actual taste of the cakes. Both the«regular» cake with pineapple and the chocolate one were sufficiently moist and not overly sweet which i liked. Overall though, they were just okay in my opinion and weren’t anything special. They definitely served their purpose but I was by no means wowed. This is not a bad place to go for a very basic cake but do not expect any frills. They had a ton of other desserts and single slices in their display case though that may be worth checking out.

All my birhday cakes, and my sons birthday cakes have been bought here. This place is the best. I love how their cakes taste they’re not too sweet and the bread is soft and spongy, the frosting is the best part and the fruit too. Yup I love this place.

Really good Pupusas and breakfast. The mix of choices from American to Mexican to salvadorean it’s great! Get your coffee and a piece of pastry and you’re set! Small but clean. Great costumer service. I’ll be back when I’m around this area!

I saw this place a few months back while looking for a good bday cake. It’s got great reviews. I sent one of the guys to get a cheesecake but by the time he came back it was time for me to go so I didn’t bother to taste it. This morning I remembered it’s someone bday at work. Sigh. No time to go to Tropicana’s. Time for Annie’s Bakery Part 2. *calls their #* Me: «Hello?» Bakery: «Hello. Como puedo ayudar?» Me: «Do you take debit cards?» Bakery: «Hello? Hello?» Me: «Do you take debit cards?» *louder* Bakery: «Hello? Hello?» Me: «Acceptarmos debit cards, Señora?» *pulled that right out of my butt* Translation: «We accept debit cards, señora?» Bakery: «No. Cash solamente.» I just butchered her language yet she understood me. Whew! ********* Red velvet cake($ 2.00+/slice) is the bomb. It ended my 2 day carb free streak. I’ll start again after this. It’s got the perfect sweetness, not too much frosting, and I love the consistency. Tres leches($ 24/cake) looked kind of cheesy with the color and flower frosting but I hope it tastes good. I’m not a fan of Tres leches but I’ll try it once the celebrant cuts it up. Parking is pretty good at 9AM. No problem. Service was friendly altho very slow. All in all, a good find in the Westlake area.

Been coming here EVERY morning to get my juice fix, even though it is a bit more expensive & has less selection, it is closest. This morning I asked the lady for a small bag bcuz my doggie poo bag was torn, so i can pick up the poop and the same lady i see every day wanted to charge me for it! And not a shopping bag, just a small bag. And the way she said it was so rude. So they lost a regular customer, i’ll get my juice around the corner. A place sooo takaño, who knows where else they are cutting corners.

Read my original review! Finally had the chance to stop in here after checking out MacArthur Park and a quick stroll thru the neighborhood. This is a small casual place with TONS of dessert and a couple of food options. This time, we got the strawberry shortcake again, AND decided to try the Mocha Cake which was YUM. I’d have to say that’s my 2nd fave. Next time I’d wanna try the Mango Cake! They do not take credit card, only cash. LOVETHISPLACE!

Been here before for the pastries. Yum Now the food what can we say… bomb diggity. We all had the big tacos because there’s no menú online and it was what the only item i could remember. No worries i will upload the pics i took of the menu from inside. The tacos were full of flavor and yes they’re big. Two is more than enough. Oh yeah, also inexpensive. Now the downside, there’s little chance of finding a parking spot. There are so many businesses in this area that I believe the employees are the ones taking up most of the parking spots. So if you have to drive, bring a buddy. One of you drive and the other get the food. Also the juice from the pico de gallo breaks down the tortilla making a big taco mess.

Almost 100% of the time, if you’re a mom & pop joint, I’m rooting for you. But this place is a little funky. I can see that once there was a family running this little bakery, but you can tell they’re running it as a means of income from the 6oz. coffee cups that you would usually see in your office for free sold for $ 1.25. Refills were $ 1. I get how capitalism works, but you can tell the patrons of the restaurant are everyday visitors. Kinda not so mom & pop anymore? Now, they do have variety of baked goods. From delicious Chinese almond cookie to Mexican rico bread to sweet rolls. What I didn’t appreciate was the variety of prices. Didn’t think they would be selling the same bread dough in different packages at different prices… One last thing I could of done without: CASHONLY, except for the CALOTTO machine. Haha.

I had a craving for something sweet today. I live close enough, and after reading these reviews I headed here. Got a tiny slice of cheesecake and a piña colada cake slice to take home. Very cheap price wise, so i was happy about that. The cheesecake was pretty good(I was reeeally hungry though :/)but the piña colada cake was completely dry(I mean COMPLETELY) Four layers of cake with the most insignificant smear of plain whipped cream between them. I work at a bakery and every one of our cakes is moist when fresh. Who knows how long that cake had been there. I took it to go, so i couldnt return it. threw it away after two bites :(so disappointing… good thing it didn’t cost much. First impression: umm did I walk into the wrong bakery, or are people giving out 4 – 5 star ratings way too easily? .I’m going with the latter.

Annie’s had, hands down, the BEST burrito I’ve ever had — the California burrito. The secret is in the fries. Don’t let the rundown appearance fool you… the people are friendly, and the desserts were delicious. I had the mocha cake, the three milk(tres leches), and the custard roll. I can’t wait to take my friends back to it soon so I can try the other desserts and another CA burrito. Did I mention the prices were great? It’s just around the corner from the Bootleg Theater too.

I can’t believe its taken me so long to write a review of Annie’s Bakery Café! I’ve been eating their cakes since I was a young’n and this place is still going strong. I recently had their cakes THREE times in one month. That’s how delicious this little bakery is and it tasted just as good as I remembered. My dear friend recently had an architecture graduation party and the cake was so awesome! Annie’s bakery did not skimp on this 2 tiered masterpiece. The cake was architecture perfection. + The cake was also yumza! A perfect balance sweetness from the fruits, cream, and fluffy spongy cake. Their fresh fruit filled cake is usually my go to cake. So lucky of me to have re-kindled my love for Annie’s Bakery. I just had their cheesecake last night and loved it! We ordered the chocolate cheesecake with chocolate dipped strawberries on top. =) I really cant eat more than one bite of the cheesecakes at the cheesecake factory. i feel like i’m eating a spoonful of sugar which definitely will not make the medicine go away! haha Annie’s cheesecakes are perfectly sweet, light n fluffy, creamy, but still dense as a cheesecake should be. the cheesecake was dipped in chocolate, but it gave it a beautiful and delicious chocolate crust. It looks heavy, but its really the perfect balance… you will taste when you order it! I recommend them to all my friends + family and now luckily to all of you dear Unilocalers. If you are ever looking to buy a cake/baked goods for any occasion look no further! This bakery is as sweet as as their cakes! s e r v i c e. The staff is as sweet as their cakes and very helpful. Just let them know what occasion it is and anything specific you want/don’t want on your cake! q u i c k t i p. if you need a cake fast, get the cake with fresh fruit filling! t o t r y n e x t . Red velvet and tres leches… yumzaas! w h a t i d i g . Everything is so fresh & affordable. can’t beat it =) + they have tacos. seriously? this is like match made in heaven! Lunch & dessert l a s t w o r d s b e f o r e i f a l l i n t o a f o o d c o m a. This bakery is gonna get me fat, but oh so worth it. =P

i have 2 sisters, 1 brother and aunts and uncles galore. I feel like i am alwaysssss ordering birthday cakes, graduations cakes yada yada. So, i’ve been looking all over for an affordable bakery with quality cakes. A friend recommended this bakery to me and I’m so glad i gave it a try! There aren’t many bakeries that are priced as reasonably. my friend recommended the tres leches cake and SERIOUSLY, you have to try this. So moist and delicious! if you have a sweet tooth and don’t want to spend an arm and a leg at pricey bakeries, def check this place out. i’ll definitely be back soon. i saw this fruit tart that was calling my name… o_O
