The I.A.S. is a multidisciplinary acting studio giving actors and performers of all types instruction in scene study, and acting technique. We focus on film, TV, and voiceover style acting and tailor the exercises to each student. Our classes are small so that every actor gets a chance to be onstage in every class. Also covered is improvisation, audition technique, and the business of being a performer.

History

Established in 2013.

Steve Polinsky and Alexander Polinsky have between them over 75 years experience in the performing arts of TV, film, stage and voiceover. Both pro actors and directors this father and son team has coached the likes of Chyna Phillips, Lenny Kravitz, and Gary Colman as well as coaching actors and helping them to land leads in Disney projects, feature films, and commercials. Steve comes from New York where he was affiliated with the Actor’s Studio and later at Stanford University. Alexander has starred in TV shows, movies, and numerous animated films and cartoons.

I started acting at age 7 because I had an obsession with it. I watched my dad perform onstage from an early age and I knew what I wanted to do with my life. No one could keep me from my destiny in fact I landed my first job in a touring company at age 7 without the consent of my parents. Acting is art, and art excites me. I want to share my enthusiasm with people and teach others to treat acting as a self discovery where the art changed the artist and the impacts the audience on a visceral level. There is no excuse for bad art and i want to help artists make choices that keep their performances relevant. I am a working actor, not a professional teacher. If you want training from a working professional, come and sit in on a class and see. There is no substitute for real life experience in the business, but if you are just starting out, if you have been away for awhile, or if you are curious if you can do it we can help you.
