Khichuri & fish are great, the beef sucks, serves premade food, very very old. It smells. And also avoid buying raw beef /​mutton from there, all bones and the meats are from the worst part of the beef and they don’t allow you to choose, thay say its all mixed, which is stupid.

Worst beef and kacchi biriyani ever. If you can just ignore this restaurant. Never go there. It’s just waste of time and money.

great food, chicken kabob is best in town also their famous kachii biryani great taste, nice and clean and great customer service, since last 20 years I get the same food and service.

Aladin Sweets & Market is trying to attract customers by encouraging writing some good reviews. But, intelligent and knowledgeable customers can analyze facts about the place. Yes, foods at Aladin Sweets & Market would taste good to those who are used to foods prepared in Bangladeshi process, like in restaurants in Bangladesh. There, restaurants do not have to worry about health concern for customers. So, they put anything and do it in their way to prepare and serve foods. Many people are used to eating whatever comes on the plates and however they are treated. Aladin Sweets & Market is used to prepare foods and treat customers in the same Bangladeshi ways. Therefore, some people feel at home going there. But, those who understand the systems here in the United States would be concerned about health, customer service and business ethics Aladin Sweets & Market practices.

I am Bengali from India and really miss my mom’s cooking. So after reading all the review and due to my craving for home style Bengali food, my husband and I decided to drive to LA from San Diego just for dinner. Pretty normal right, not that it’s the first time we did a road trip for food, we did drive to Maine from Massachusetts once for dinner! Anyways getting back to the review. It is a bengali fish market + restaurant. We ordered:
Rice
Shrimp with Squash
Hilsha fish steamed in mustard sauce
Misti doi (traditional sweet bengali yogurt)
Roshogolla
Gulab Jamun
Oh and if you check in Unilocal,you get a free mango lassi, which was really good.
The food was amazing, home cooked style. People who are used to the regular Indian restaurant food, and those creamy and thick gravy /​curry, please an open mind as thats not how people cook at home. We loved the Hilsha with Mustard so much that we got 6 extra plates of it to go. This was the first time my husband (who is your typical American boy from Indiana) ever tried it, and absolutely loved it too. Even though he always enjoyed Bengali food been married to me for almost 8 years lol.
We also bought some frozen fish to cook at home. the road trip and traffic totally worth it !!!

Poor quality food. Meats tasted stale and bad service.
Avoid … You can find better food at other places.

This is my third time here and I brought an Indian friend who is quite please with the introduction. Very authentic Bangladeshi restaurant. The menu here is quite different from your typical north Indian restaurant. There are a lot of curry fish dishes here. Every item on their menu is delicious except I would caution on a bony fish that have ninja stars for bones. They will warn you on that.
The price is reasonable. The plates or bowls are smallish but hearty and they are around $ 4, so you can order a few different types of curries for variety. Quite spicy for the typical American palate. The place is very ethnic in character so don’t expect a five star atmosphere.

What a gem this place is! I am as American as Apple Pie; but when I needed to make some yummy Indian food to impress my girl, I went here to find all the exotic spices I needed to make my dishes taste as close to the real thing as possible. The young girl that works there was fluent in English and super helpful. The older guy sitting behind the counter (her dad?) looked a little grumpy and not so nice. Either way it was a positive experience.

So im a bit up set and disgusted. … #1 this place smells AMAZING and taste grate too… I got the mutton curry with the regular steamed rice to go from Theo service counter… the rice taste like it was made with old dirty sock water… ok whatever I dont need the carbs anyway lol… the curry was flavorful just yhe right amount of spice and everything then I ran into a BIG DISGUSTING BLACK HAIR… gross… So I call the place and he says com back and Ill make you a new one. um ok… so me being gross lol I think well let me eat from this side since the hair was on the other side lol go to take another bite ANOTHER HAIR longer than the first one… smh im I dont know of I want to go back

If I was ever a super hero and had super powers, I feel like I would probably have to choose something similar to Colossus from the X-​Men. Mainly because being invulnerable to almost everything and having super strength is pretty sweet. This would be especially useful for living on the mean streets on Los Angeles and maybe catching a accidental stray bullet from the LAPD. I mean, if you chose to be able to fly, that’s great, but like what about worrying about landing without breaking your legs. That would suck. If you had super strength, you could just catapult yourself up into the air and sorta fly for a bit and then not even worry about landing.
The Chicken pastries give you super strength. I feel like a god right now.

Authentic Bangladeshi food. Great value for money. I always try to visit whenever I am around the area.

Good place to eat Indian/​Bengali food. Next to it there is a market and you can also buy pastries. Good customer service, cheap prices. And good food.

I come here mainly to satisfy some specific cravings. I usually get their roti/​paratha with one of the chicken or mutton curries. The other items on the menu are average at best. I would stay away from the buffet in the future, seems to be recycled leftover food. Lots of variety but poor in quality. It’s also sad that for a Bengali restaurant most of their fish dishes smell stale.
Pros: stays open late at night and portions are big.

Came to Aladin for lunch yesterday and my only regret is that I hadn’t come here sooner! I ordered chicken kebab (which came with amazing grilled onions and peppers and some salad), paratha, and a couple of sweets and everything was AMAZING. Omg that paratha! I didn’t even bother using a fork the paratha was the perfect utensil. The wait was a little long but I could tell that the kebab was made fresh so I didn’t really mind. Prices are ridiculously cheap! My 6 item order came up to less than $ 10! (check in to redeem free mango lassi!!!)
I hate to deduct a star because the food was so good but the honest to goodness truth is that I was extremely hesitant and almost anticipating horrible food because the looks of this place are so drab. This place looks dirty but if you really take the time to look around you will realize that it really isn’t, it’s just really ugly lol. Oh Aladin if you just considered some beautification, more thoughtful plating, and nicer silverware you would truly be the best. Lesson here: don’t judge a book by it’s cover!

5 stars for their food!, don’t expect a good service here. Beef curry here is the best i’ve ever had, very rich in spice and beef is tender as well. Moogliparatha is my fav but takes like 15 – 20 min. to make. They recently up the price on the menu, it was pretty cheap but now still reasonable price tho.

Great service, great food and good price. Very traditional Indian family restaurant. They treat you like family and give very good recommendations and very friendly. A store and a restaurant mixed together is the best idea they made. A honest review by a ten year old.

Ah, their food is so spicy and flavorful, and it’s supeeeeer cheap!!! $ 4.99 for a serving of mutton (goat) curry and $ 5.99 for a mutton biryani which is big enough to feed two people? GIMME MORE!!! I admit their dishes’s presentation is not appetizing, but the great taste is all that matters to me, especially for that price.
Their sweets are $ 6.99 a lb, and I believe if you buy less than a pound, they will charge you the price of an individual ($ 1.50 — $ 1.99 each,) which is a bit more expensive.
I read the reviews before coming here, and I was somewhat surprised how easily freaked out certain people could be. Their reviews sounded so bad that I became a bit indecisive, but I’m glad they were wrong. I’ll make it short, if you see a review that calls this place «disgusting» in capital and «pure filth» is what they see everywhere, that one is definitely an exaggeration, and the one that says the store is «unorganized» tells me that the person might have been confused himself. I have a sincere advice for you, there’s actually a McDonalds right down the street from Aladin which will make you feel like «YOU’RE NOT IN BANGLADESH» with flavorless, mass-​produced, and super high in sodium & fat «food». At least a it’s not «purely filthy and unorganized,» right?! Joy!

Aladin is a typical hole in the wall which has very cheap items on the menu but you should not expect much from overall ambiance and service. It also has an attached Indian/​Pakistani grocery store.
Aladin is famous as a Halal Restaurant and as a result vegetarians have very limited option here. I have been here several times and tried most of their vegetarian items which include aloo chop (Deep fried potato patties), vegetable curry, fried vegetables, Saag Bhajee etc. All items are at most OK, nothing great. I liked the saag bhajee the most but its serving is really tiny for me. I also tried their vegetable biryani which was in no way biryani and was close to vegetable pulao. Their Parathas are gigantic and probably single serving of Paratha is enough for dinner.
On the contrary, all my friends who are not vegetarians love this place because of wide variety of meat options and cheap prices. In particular they seems to love Mutton Biryani and Chicken Kebab. Being a vegetarian, Aladin in not on the top of my list but I just get dragged on here with my friends. However, I use the opportunity to stock up Indian spices and pickle.

I was looking for Bangladeshi style Shikh-​kabab (shish kebab) for a long time & this is probably the best I found in LA. It’s really spicy & I mean REALLY! But I can handle that much spices. Paratha was awesome with the kabab.
I’ve tried few other foods from there, biriyani, aloo-​chop, few mishti (sweets) most of them were pretty good. Not too many complaints. But not everything from their menu are always available. Regardless, hands down to the best shish kabab in LA

Never been here before. The place looks like a dive, but the Bangladeshi food you get here is pretty good. The chicken kabobs were very flavorful with spices and tender. To my surprise they were one of the best places for kabobs. The sauces and the samosas were great too. I would be careful about some of the sauces because they can be spicy and have tiny bones in the meat. I don’t remember everything I had but the food was good and inexpensive. The place is a hole in the wall and there is a market in the back. Service was kind of slow, but the food made up for it. It is very authentic. The décor is outdated and my seat came apart, no issue for me. 3.5 stars is my rating.
The restaurant does have parking in the back. You gotta look out for it because you can miss it.
