Signed up for the 5 lesson package and asked for Jose to be my driving instructor. He is the best and will give you the best tips and advice to pass the driving test. I passed my test today in winnetka with the help of Jose because he took me there on my lesson and he knows the routes for the test. Ask for him if you are eager to get your license!

I postponed getting my driver’s license because I am a very anxious driver. However, the reviews here were great so I decided to give Abel’s a try. I paid for six hours online (very easy using PayPal) and then called to schedule my lessons. My instructor, Rosie (the best!), worked with me to schedule time around my job and was always very accommodating.
The lessons themselves were very well done and I always felt safe and confident driving with Rosie. After the six hours, I also scheduled to borrow Abel’s car for the test as well as an hour practice right before the test. By the time my exam came, I felt very prepared. And I passed on my first try! I can’t thank Abel’s and Rosie enough!

I just passed my driving test today in the first attempt and I am so happy ! I thank Abel’s driving school and most importantly, my instructor Rey. He is a fantastic instructor to have and is very energetic, motivating and funny. He has been extremely patient with my turns; especially with my wild right turns! I highly recommend Abel’s and Rey! Abel’s driving school prepared me to take my driving test. I passed the first time! I highly recommend Edgar, who was fantastic. He showed me the tricks and methods. He also took me on the actual course that I took on the day of the test. No other school compares to Abel’s. Thank you.

Got the driving lessons for my brother.
Paid online using a credit card via paypal, and scheduled the classes. Schedules were very full so the earliest was about 2 – 3 weeks away. On the day itself, the instructor showed up 1.5 hours early w/​o any notice, and wanted to start the class then, but my brother wasn’t home yet. Ended up rescheduling because instructor had double booked someone else for the timeslot we booked.
Next available schedule was ANOTHER 3 weeks away. Ended up cancelling on us again because they messed up scheduling AGAIN. They tried giving us another schedule that is ANOTHER 3 weeks on top of the 6 weeks that we have already waited.
Seeing that this is obviously going nowhere, we asked for a refund, which a manager said OK, but he has to wait till the finance manager gets in because he’s the one who handles such issues. Waited for about 2 weeks, no refunds, so we called. Kept getting the run-​around saying it will be processed.
Finally, we called again 2 days ago. Manager now says it’s too late for a refund because it’s past 60 days since we paid. This is obviously BS. They gave us the run-​around just to delay us past the 60 day policy, which they never mentioned about anywhere, and now they’re saying it’s not possible to refund.
Do note that most credit cards also require you to file any chargebacks within 60 days, which they most likely tried to delay us just so we would get past that deadline.
I still filed a chargeback with American Express nevertheless and they’re handling the claim now.
VERY SHADY BUSINESS. Steer clear.

Son just completed the online exam and we made a mistake in going directly to DMV to get a written test but because we didnt have the completion certificate from Abel, my son was denied to take a test.
We immediately drove to Abel and thank goodness someone walked in at 9am and helped us right away by giving us a certificate right on the spot. Thank you so much guys for helping helping us out!

Ask for Josh. Fantastic instructor, very funny, always felt safe driving around with him. Loved that we got to drive around in a Prius C because that’s the car I’ll be getting. Great beginner car. He was always prompt and friendly. We got to drive wherever I wanted to go practice (my neighborhood, place I’ll need to drive for work), and he was very flexible. I was also staying in Culver City, so they were happy to pick me up from my place for the lesson. That made it super convenient.
Oh yeah, and the fact that the car is labeled with ‘Driving School’ all around made the drivers around me much more forgiving and patient. And they gave me lots of space haha. The instructor has brakes and gas on his side of the car, so he’s got your back.

OMG! I Love this school! Jose was my teacher and he was awesome! I finally have my license after so many years of trying to face my fears! I have panic attacks and anxiety disorder so being behind the wheel would cause another episode of me crying and trembling, feeling dizzy, nauseous and my heart racing like crazy. I used to live in Hawaii so driving wasn’t really an issue. Now that I live in Los Angeles I really need to drive in order to get to places, especially if I find a job further away from my apartment. So I called Abel’s driving school and explained to them about my situation and the man on the phone was very kind and told me they had dealt with people who suffers from panic attacks and anxiety. He assured me that I would be just fine. He told me my instructor would be Jose. I am so glad to have Jose as my instructor. He’s amazing and very patient with me. There were times when I just wanted to give up but he gave me the confidence to keep on trying. He is very professional and always on time. He gave me helpful tips for passing the test and how to be a better driver. This guy is very calm even though I was trembling behind the wheel lol he would repeatedly say, «you can do it, you can do it!» and after a couple of lessons with Jose I finally did it! Jose took me to the DMV and I took my test and passed! I finally got my license!

Love this school! My experience so far has been FANTASTIC! I will be 29 years old this month, and would you believe, I’ve never owned my driver’s license or taken the driving test.ever. I feel very confident that come May 5, 2015 I will pass this test with no issues.
So, I went online and paid for 6 hours of lessons. After I paid, I called Abel’s and a man named Chris answered the phone. He was very polite, and answered all my questions and concerns I had about getting back behind the wheel after 5yrs of having not practiced. We scheduled my lessons, and he also gave me tips on when to schedule my driving test, which, it’s good that I’d already booked the date before I’d ever paid the money since the appointments are getting more and more backed up. (Pro-​tip, if you haven’t already, pick out the DMV you are doing your test at, and make sure to book your appointment now. The sooner you do, the sooner you can take your test and knock it out while the lessons are still fresh).
My teacher on the first day was Josh, who showed up 15 minutes early and we practiced in the Toyota Prius C. Josh was very patient with me, and helped me with getting more used to turns (especially right turns, I was so horrible at those lol), and just driving in general. I didn’t feel like at another driving school I did a few years ago where they just make you drive and don’t even tell you what you’re doing right or wrong, just have you driving along. My experience with him as a teacher is A+. The only thing I didn’t like about the Prius is that it seems that you have to hit the breaks a lot harder than other cars. It’s weird, but I didn’t really like that. The handling of the car was otherwise great though. We drove around Culver City, West LA, and even Hollywood, Beverly Hills, etc.
My teacher for the remainder of my lessons was Herbert, he came to get me in the Fiat 500, which is very similar to the car I want, the MINI Cooper. Herbert is an excellent instructor. Highly recommend him as a teacher. He will make sure you are a comfortable driver when he’s done with you. I was doing my left AND right turns with ease by the time he was done with me. We also drove through different types of roads and stuff, even got on the highway. We also drove around a bit near the DMV I planned to do my test at. The handling of the Fiat was excellent and I prefer it over the Prius, I am also using this car for my test. We drove out as far as the beach, to Manhattan, Hermosa, and Marina Del Rey. Definitely enjoyed my lessons with him. It’s also worth noting that he was very punctual and showed up on time each time, despite there being any traffic.
With that said, I will also update once I’ve taken my test. I’m pretty confident that I will pass it, because of making an informed decision to drive with them. The prices are a little on the higher side, but nothing you can’t manage if you have a job and the means. The lessons are 100% private; I hate lessons where another student is in the car, and you have to drive them home, and then another student, after your own lessons has to drive you home, and may not drive as well as you do. That can be a potentially scary/​dangerous situation. Don’t have to worry about that here. Like I said, when they say 100% private, that’s exactly what they mean.
But yeah, you get what you pay for. Spend the extra money and go with Abel’s Driving School! Completely worth it, whether I pass the test or not, imo. If you have experience driving, you will become a better driver, and if you have little to no experience, you will still come out a confident driver. The reviews speak for themselves. Don’t sleep on it! Make your appointment today!

His car is clean and neat, and he teaches me every detail about driving, I’ve never thought I can get my driving license at my first test but I did !!!

I had just moved to LA and had never driven before in my entire life. I wanted to go with a driving school that would have an instructor that was patient and could teach me literally everything I needed to know. Rosie was my instructor and from the very beginning I learned super fast. Her attitude helped me feel more confident in myself and it felt more like driving with a friend than with an instructor. I got around 8 – 10 hours of lessons in before taking my behind the wheel test, which I passed with flying colors. Rosie with there with me and made the process a lot less stressful. I would definitely recommend her as an instructor!

My first impression calling Abel’s was that the lady there answering the phone was extremely nice. She recommended all the classes and even how/​when to book the driving test at DMV. I had a driving lesson with Jose. He is awesome. He always arrives about 5 mins prior to class. He taught me all the necessary tips and tricks for passing the test and to be a good driver. He even took me on a freeway cuz I said that I would like him to help me with that. He is very calm so you shouldn’t be afraid that he’s going to yell at you. I believe he has a lot of experience that he knows what you are about to do even before you do it. The car they use at Abel’s is in a very good condition and new.

I’ve got instructor Edgar from El Salvador. Within two hours driving with Edgar I’ve learned lot more that I’ve learned from my first Driving School (Gold Driving School) which i spent more than 13 hours and still didn’t know how to drive. In only two hours Edgar did something I don’t know what))), but very next day I was driving very smooth, calm and confidently and passed my Driving test few days after I had lesson with him. Before I did 4 trials, and wasn’t able to pass. Now I’m enjoying my driving. Edgar the best!!!

Two days ago something happened that I never imagined possible: I got my driver’s license. I could not have done so without Abel’s.
I was born and raised in LA and have waited until now (I am 22 years old) to start driving… you can imagine how shocked people have been (since I was 16!) that I didn’t have my license in such a huge, car-​crazy city. This is mainly because I have been terrified of driving since a very young age. Throughout most of my life I have had nightmares about driving and have been dreading the day that I would have to start learning.
But the day came, and after looking at reviews online, I decided to try Abel’s. After only 6 hours of lessons and one hour of practice before my behind-​the-​wheel test, I got my license with only 5 points off on my exam! For this I must thank Abel’s but even more than that I must thank my kind, patient and hilarious instructor Rosie. Her calm demeanor made all my butterflies go away from the moment I stepped into the car. She is incredibly direct about what you are doing right and what you need to work on– and she’s not afraid to push you a bit out of your comfort zone, if she thinks you’re ready, which is what I needed the most. On top of that, she is a blast to spend time with– she is incredibly funny and lovely and fun to talk to! I could not recommend this school or this instructor enough. THANK YOU ABEL’S AND ROSIE!!!

Im Singaporean… licensed driver but we drive on the left of the road, sitting on the right in the car. Sounds Mind-​boggling? That’s how I felt driving on my initial permit days. I felt like I never knew how to drive (not exaggerating). A lot of it was new. What I needed was confidence… Antonio from Abel’s gave that to me and I am very grateful.
I completed 6 hours with him. Very flexible on my schedule — weekdays and weekends, felt like a good friend was coaching me. We drove for the entire time committed to me. He would always give me feedback at the end of the day and prepare me for the next day. He was firm at times spotting my mistakes but also encouraging when I was not at fault. While we focused on the drive test, he also guided me on the grand picture of driving here in LA and cultured me for that too. therefore, a good choice for people new to the US.
I passed at Downtown LA DMV after just 6 hours with the right people!

I highly recommend this school. I passed my drive test in the first attempt (just 5 points off) with just 6 hours of training.
I had two instructors Gustavo (for 4 hours and he also took me to the test) and Jose. Both if them were great. They were always on time. They know what the examiner is looking for. I think if u train with Gustavo u will not only have a better chance of passing the test but u will also be a safe driver. He constantly explain how your driving is effecting other on the road (other cars biker pedestrian).
There are probably other driving schools that are a tad cheaper than Abel but trust me on this it’s money well spend.

Abel’s is amazing! I’ve been avoiding driving for awhile now and had little to no experience behind the wheel when I started my lessons. Coming from the South, I was not very excited about learning how to drive in LA. So much anxiety!
But my first lesson put me at ease immediately. We drove down Ventura when it was filled with traffic and by the 2^nd lesson, I was on the freeway. Must say, it was very exciting and helped build my confidence about my driving skills.
My instructor was really cool and helped me to correct my mistakes in a calm manner. From previous failed attempts at learning to drive, I would always get too nervous if the person driving with me freaked out. So his constructive criticism helped me a lot!
I had 10 hours in total but I probably could have passed the test after 6 hours. The last 2 lessons just helped me be more defensive on the road and work on areas I thought I might be iffy on when driving alone.
We also drove around the DMV where I would take the test. Got familiar with the roads/​speed limit changes, learned the tough spots. Knowing the area helped me chill out before the test.
Passed my driving test on the first try. Wouldn’t have been able to do it without Abel’s!!!
