Aaron Swenson – Personal Boxing Coach

Aaron has been teaching me the fundamentals of the sweet science and I have been progressing. We start off with the Boxer’s stance/​footwork, then some line drills and punching technique/​critique, then some controlled partner/​sparring drills. Just yesterday for first time we did light sparring. This was the best lesson yet. I was able get a real assessment of my progression. Aaron held back of course while I was trying my best to land my punches. Thanks Aaron. I look forward to our next lesson.

There’s a reason why Aaron has nothing but five star reviews. He is AMAZING. I met Aaron when I was going to a boxing gym in Santa Monica, doing mostly cardio boxing. He quickly recognized my love and aptitude for boxing and asked if I was interested in learning more technical boxing. So I started training with Aaron!
Honestly, before training with Aaron, the idea of personal training terrified me. You’re one on one so you can’t slack off if you’re tired or think you can get away with poor form… things I admit I sometimes did in a class of 30. My first session with Aaron went great. I was challenged not only physically, but mentally. He pushed me to work harder than I ever have and really strive to improve. He even threw some kickboxing and Muay Thai into the mix, which I now love as well. Since training with Aaron I’ve gone to a couple of boxing/​Muay Thai gyms, and each time I’ve been complimented on my technical skills. Owe it all to this dude!
Training with Aaron has also helped me recognize how out of shape I really was… haha I hit a point where I became lazy and staying active wasn’t my main priority. So every time I would see Aaron again I would get my butt kicked. Now, I work out 5 – 6 times a week and have never felt better.
This review is getting pretty long so I’m going to wrap it up… Aaron is an incredible trainer and just an overall great and genuine person. If you want to challenge yourself and learn something new (or improve what you already know), all the while actually having FUN (yeah, he makes exercise enjoyable!), hit up Aaron.

Aaron Swenson absolutely sold me on learning multiple forms of fighting techniques. He has an infectious attitude, and his knowledge of boxing/​kickboxing/​muaythai with his ability to infuse them into a exciting and unique style makes developing fun instead of arduous, and I couldn’t wait to get back to the gym for more.
Now that I have been training for some time, I am confident in saying Aaron is the epitome of what is expected of a first rate trainer. His mitt holding is exceptional, and he is constantly able to spot areas that need correcting. He thinks outside of the box, and is always trying to absorb new techniques and concepts. He will look at everything objectively, and is never dismissive of an opinion.
Many trainers charge insane amounts, and honestly have no fucking clue what they’re doing; this is insulting and unacceptable. I promise that Aaron’s personal training sessions are undervalued, and well worth every dollar spent.

By the luck of the universe I crossed paths with Aaron Swenson & his training skills about 8 years ago. He exposed me to a world I never knew, and empowered me in a way I will never be able to explain in mere words and do proper justice. I’ve trained with several other people since Aaron, and no one holds a candle to him. He’s not a fighter who trains for extra money. He’s a TRAINER. He taught me proper form, and allowed me to choose what to do with the skills, and was completely supportive. Whether you want to compete, get in better shape, or just feel the power from within you — he rocks it hard.

I began taking classes with Aaron without any previous experience in the martial arts. Very quickly I was seeing terrific results physically as well as mentally from Aaron’s instruction. More focused, less stressed, more confident, and having a lot of fun. While training with Aaron you will be so engaged in learning what he has to teach — as I was — that you will soon be in the best shape of your life and wonder how you got there. Make no mistake, Aaron’s instruction is top notch. He is an incredible teacher, champion, and an even better person.

Aaron Swenson is an incredible trainer, coach and human being! My mom started training with him a few years, followed by my sister and finally me. Aaron got me in the best shape of my life! When I first started I was worried that it would be out of my league and make me feel ridiculous. However, Aaron made me feel so comfortable and was patient and broke it down for me in steps i could understand. I fell in love right away. He is the best trainer I have ever had and when he left for LA, I cried not only because he is amazing at what he does but he is an incredible human being. My whole family has fallen in love with the art of Muy Thai because of his patience, love and dedication to the sport. I don’t think I can recommend Aaron enough. You won’t regret it!

My husband and I would ONLY go to Aaron’s class when he taught at UFC (we tried one other trainer once and I just couldn’t take it). We were very sad when we left Chicago and had to not only find a whole new boxing gym but also someone we liked as a trainer. I’d recommend Aaron to anyone looking for a trainer that’s motivating, easy-​going and knows his s***!

Great coach/​teacher. Mad a fat unathletic slow guy like me a little less fat, slow, and unatchletic in the ring. Enough to get a few Ws in charity boxing matches.

Aaron «Speedy» Swenson was the Head Striking Trainer for UFC Gym Chicago and is a true force to be reckoned with. After training at 4 different martial arts gyms in Chicago, I found Speedy to be, by far, the most knowledgeable and patient Martial Arts Instructor I have trained with so far. He is a master technician, with professional experience to back it up, having competed on the very first Glory Kickboxing event to get national U.S. exposure on Spike TV (Glory 11: Chicago) as well as international experience competing Muay Thai in Thailand.
More than that, he keeps the training exciting, pushing you to both learn the techniques and achieve personal training goals. He’s also a genuinely nice person, which is refreshing as unfortunately there are many stereotypical intimidating, meat-​head coaches in the MMA/​Combat Sports industry, which Aaron is absolutely not.

Fantastic trainer! Enthusiastic, supportive, and will teach you a lot (as well as kick your butt in gear when you need it). Was sad to see him go to California.

I used to be a member of a gym where Aaron coached in chicago and he was the only trainer I would go to. He’s great at gauging your personality and knowing when to push you and when to leave you be (I can’t stand trainers who critcize you loudly in front of everyone or, even worse, are super peppy and obnoxiously encouraging). No matter what level of boxing you’re on-​Aaron is your man.

I trained under Aaron when he was teaching a kickboxing class in Chicago. What can I say? He was by far my favorite trainer at the gym. Aaron is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to boxing/​kickboxing/​Muay Thai and overall fitness.
Aaron’s style of training is extremely thorough and technical. After years of training in other martial arts I felt as though I were learning everything completely from scratch… only with much more proper form and execution. His workouts were never boring and featured an excellent cross-​section of techniques. He’s also extremely personable and attentive to your level of experience and abilities.
I highly recommend this extremely talented fighter, and can only express my complete envy if you’re starting your martial arts training under him.
