We take the toilets to proper concrete recycling where they become mixed into «base rock» for road construction.

They picked up as scheduled and as promised. (I did call to confirm, mostly because I had scheduled weeks in advance.) It was great because we didn’t have to dispose of the toilet ourselves (it’s heavy to lug around!). Glad to know such a service exists!

I learned about this service after doing a google search. I was considering hauling 2 toilets to a county/​city dump but found that there is a charge. For about the same price or less, Trader Tjader was able to pick up the toilets for me and take care of everything. Plus, there’s peace of mind to know that there is a good effort to recycle the parts (it appears that lids are in demand by a lot of schools.)
Communication is excellent; pickup times are limited to Sunday morning to early afternoon only, but you do not need to be home for the pickup to occur. You can pay online or leave a check, and there is a volume discount if you have more than one toilet to pickup.
Your toilets must not be broken and you need to strip out any existing hardware and seats.
Overall, a very convenient and cost-​effective alternative to hauling it to a dump, and the service is very friendly. Visit the website for more info.
