Steve and Kate’s Camp – Los Altos

I had heard great things about this place. Unfortunately they didn’t live up to the hype. I only had my son attend one session of Steve and Kate’s. Unfortunately the teenagers running the place where not very reliable. They lost my son the one day that I placed him in their care.
I then encountered Steve and Kate’s camp again when they came to my son’s new school during the next summer vacation. My son did not attend this camp. But I was at the school almost everyday for other reasons so I was around to witness some consistent behavior with the Steve & Kate’s staff and kids. The kids were out of control and the counselors could not keep track of them. They were running around screaming their heads off and locking each other in the bathrooms. I was horrified at what I saw. If only the parents knew how little supervision and care their kids were receiving!

This camp was fabulous! My kids loved it and I was so impressed with every aspect of the camp. As an educator, I was so excited with the pedagogy used to engage all of the children at the camp. I believe my children learned a great deal, matured, gained a great deal of self confidence and did it all while having fun! I think beyond the quality of activities and the wonderful counselors what I appreciated the most was the fact that my kids could chose what they wanted to do and not be scheduled as they are all year long.
I have recommended this camp to everyone I speak with, without reservation.

I can’t say enough about Steve and Kate’s camp. Both my 6 and 4 year old kids went to the Los Altos location, on the campus of Bridges Community Church. I had ALOT of concerns going into the summer, but I was able to speak directly with the campus director Jaimey Wiener, she was great and made my kids feel welcomed. The campus did lack grass, but they really worked hard making up for that with a ton of stations, kids could cook, play games, go on hunts and even make videos. My son and daugther are very differnt kids, but both had a great time, I am planning on sending them back next year.

Steve and Kate’s has been absolutely awesome for our 8 year old. I was uncertain of what to expect at first, as our son generally does better with more structure and can sometimes find it challenging to make new friends, (as he tends to like to stick with the ones he’s known since kindergarten), but Jaimey, the camp director at the Los Altos site has been amazing at working with all of my concerns and answering any questions I’ve had. What truly impressed me is that almost all of the staff knew my son and his interests by the end of the first week, simply because of the interaction that he was able to have by trying out new activities. He was so excited to go back and be able to have the freedom to explore the activities at his pace and even tried out sewing, making super hero capes and masks! I never thought my extremely active 8 year old would want to sew. We’ve been so happy with how Steve and Kate’s has been run at this site and especially with Jaimey for making the overall experience so fun for our oldest guy. The staff is all really fun too and everyday I hear stories about them and how «cool» they are. Because apparently, your mom is no longer cool when you are an 8 year old boy. ha.
