History

Established in 1960.

LAMVAC has been in existence for over 60 years. It used to be Foothill Swimming until the merge with Mountain View Dolphins in the 1990s.

Younger age group swimmers 12-​un train at our Mountain View facilities.

Older and Elite swimmers train at Foothill College, Los Altos Hills.

My older daughter swam with LAMVAC and now my younger son is swimming there. We love the flexibility of having 5 days to choose from for practices. This flexibility allows us to do other things during the week as well as swim team. We have always found the coaches to be friendly and they motivate the kids to do their best. Facilities are really nice as well. My daughter was well prepared for the high school swim team. LAMVAC has been a great find for our family!

We love this team. My kids have been swimming with LAMVAC for three years. The experience has been all great. The coaches are wonderful, and the kids, and parents are very nice. What I love about LAMVAC is that Coach Ed connects with all the kids and is very consistent and attentive. An added bonus was that on Saturdays the parents are able to swim on a drop-​in basis. Lastly there were months when we had to take a hiatus for other things and there was never any problem doing this.

If you are looking for a competitive swim team for your kids and you want them to get great individual coaching, this is the club for you! Your kids won’t be just a number here. The team is volunteer-​run and it’s a terrific, supportive community. Don’t put your kids in an overcrowded pool that’s a commute away. Los Altos Mountain View Aquatic Club is what you want!

Just started swimming in the mornings with LAMVAC. Friendly group, and the coach (Jose) knows his stuff cold. Even at 5:30 am people are friendly and full of energy. The pool itself is really good. I don’t know what afternoon practices are like, or quality of the other pools.

My new year’s resolution: join a swim team. In high school I was on the junior varsity team for two years, but haven’t swam on a regular basis since then.
After searching for a program I decided to go with the LAMVAC Masters swim program. The practices are Mon, Wed, Fri 5:30−7am and every day 4 – 6. I only go in the mornings due to my schedule, and so far it’s been great. The coach is really nice and incredibly helpful with technique etc.
Practices take place at Foothill College which is right off 280 in Los Altos Hills. Please take note that you are supposed to pay $ 2 for parking if you will have your car parked there after 7am.

LAMVAC is a club that has stood the test of time. Its family (volunteer) run, with quality (paid) coaching for the recreational swimmer as well as the athlete that wants to excell in the sport. This year the club has a national champion (he swam faster than Michael Phelps). The club lacks the sophistication and stuffiness of of other local clubs, but this is part of the charm, and what keeps families there, but unfortunately not coaches. The turn over for the younger groups has been high the last 3 years, yet the coaching for the higher level swimmers is consistent. Note: even though the coaches for the younger swimmers don’t stay on-​staff long, they are of a quality nature.

Though not as competitive as Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics, LAMVAC is a family-​oriented swim club with flexible and encouraging instructors. Practices take place either at Eagle Pool or Foothill College.
