Dr. David Dufour graduated from Life Chiropractic College West with honors. He is certified in traumatic spinal injury through the Spine Research Institute of San Diego. He is a certified Active Release Techniques (ART) provider and specializes in soft tissue and repetitive strain injuries of the spine and the extremities. He is also a member of the Bay Area Sports Chiros group that provides onsite patient care for athletes.

As a fan of the Neuro Orthopaedic Instititue, Dr. Dufour is commited to utilizing the growing body of nervous system research in patient evaluation, treatment and management.

Dr. Dufour treats and consults with a wide variety of athletes, both professional and recreational. Prevention, intervention, and recovery are important components of improving the functional capacity of patients. When not practicing Dr. Dufour enjoys soccer, golf, and the occasional barbeque; because life is too short to cook indoors.

Dr. Dufour is an excellent chiropractor. Both my husband and I see him. Several times he identified the exact issue we had and accurately predicted recovery time. He is very honest about the treatment-​whether it be 1 – 2 visits or a few months of visits. I didn’t feel like he was dragging on and on. I don’t care for aggressive adjustments, so he used massage or more gentle methods of treatment that worked beautifully. He instructed me on proper exercises for recovery including meeting me at the gym to show me how to correctly use new equipment. I appreciate his «Keep it simple» philosophy. Dry and funny personality, too.

David was fantastic! He has an easy going personality which immediately makes you feel welcome. He stretched my back a lot and was honest that I didn’t need regular care– just had to do regular stretching at home. I love that honesty! I’ll definitely visit him again i the future if/​when I need more professional work.

Simply put, David Dufour teaches you how to fish!
Knowledgeable, personable, great communicator. Initially I came to see David for lower back pain, shoulder blade pain (right under the scapula), and a correlation of my back pain to my acid reflux which I had had for the past several months. David went above and beyond in addressing all of these areas during my appointments and even going over previous bloodwork that I had done through my PCP! One of David’s most important attributes is his ability to listen to your issues without interruption. He is a great listener and a compassionate person who genuinely wants to see you get better.
The mainstay which kept me going to David and put my trust in his care was that he not only fixed the issues that I came to him for; he basically «taught me how to fish» by offering me several techniques and exercises to use for when I am at home or at work to keep my pain from reoccuring. His knowledge of the spinal cord, soft tissue, and muscle networks that make up our body were second to none but by far, it was the exercises that were most important when learning how to bring the pain I was experiencing in the past to an almost non-​existent level in my daily life.
Anyone can see a chiropractor for adjustments every week. These are temporary though and won’t fix the root of the issue which is what David was there to address with me. If you want a chiropractor who is friendly, warm, and passionate about his work then David is a great choice. Finding a doctor who truly cares about your wellbeing is a gem to find here in the Bay Area, especially when solving the root cause of your issues is paramount to temporarily negating the symptoms.

Dr. Dufour simply does great work. Any of the aches and pains I have feel noticeably better after treatment. I had Dr. Dufour work on some pain in my foot as well as a stiff, sore neck. He is knowledgeable in his craft and is also able to educate me on different exercises and tricks to help me stay injury-​free. He was able to answer all of the questions I had about my ailments.
What I found to be great about Dr. Dufour is that he was using many different techniques during my treatment including adjustments, manipulation tools and ART massage. At first, I had never heard of ART massage but Dr. Dufour was able to help me understand how this technique would be helpful to me. I found that after the ART massage, my muscles felt looser with smoother mobility; especially in my neck.
Overall, he was great to work with and easy to talk to and let him know what aches are bothering me. His office space is clean and atmosphere is inviting. I love all of the photography books in the waiting area! I highly recommend this chiropractor.

Dr. Dufour and I confirmed the Saturday appointment at 9 a.m. that he offered. I’m writing this review from the parking lot (~9:20 a.m.). The office door is locked, no one available in the office, :/​.
This appointment was for a second opinion… Looks like my search continues.

David is a true professional. Punctual, Responsive, and great customer service.
Called several chiropractors in South Bay and he was the first to call me back (I still have not heard back from several!).
He put me on his calendar the following day. Got my first adjustment in years and it felt fantastic!
He values his customers and their time. Very simple to schedule appointments with him (I text).
With David monitoring my back every week, the back spasms and pain I was experiencing every day has been eliminated. Finally, I am able to enjoy the activities I enjoy pain-​free!

David is amazing. I went in with serious neck pain, and requested that he not adjust or ‘crack’ my spine as I have an aversion to cracking my spine. A chiropractor who doesn’t crack your back? Yes! He cured me without cracking my spine, per my request.
Instead of cracking, David offered to utilize a brilliant massage technique that completely alleviated the pinched nerves in my spine and cured me of my pain.
He also offered suggestions about how to avoid this type of pain in the future, what activities and yoga poses to avoid, and was a VERY positive and encouraging guy. I told him that I have the spine of a 60 year old woman, and he said ‘There is nothing wrong with your spine and you are very healthy”. (My last chiropractor said the opposite)
While many chiropractors will tell you tales of doom and gloom when it comes to your spine, and all the ‘treatments’ and medicines you will need to cure your aches and pains, David actually CURES the pain and is positive about your body’s ability to heal, and makes it possible.
This guy is great. I only wish I lived closer to his office. Or perhaps he could open an office in San Francisco?

David is a consummate professional and really good at what he does. My car was rear ended and I got hurt pretty bad, especially in the head and neck area. I went to David and after a few sessions I was feeling as good as I had ever been. He is a patient listener and addresses every problem you have. Initially the pain was severe and I had to visit him frequently. He understood each of my problems and cured them really well.
Next time you want to see a chiropractor, I would highly recommend him.

I met Dr Dufour a year ago through our running club, the San Francisco Marathon training program RUN365. He was a guest speaker who came to answer questions and showed us tips and stretches on injury prevention. At the time I had a nagging hip injury that wouldn’t go away for months so I made an appointment after consulting with him, and after just one session my pain level was drastically reduced and I was able to run pretty much pain-​free after about 3 sessions. Earlier this year I had another painful sprained ankle and this time I’ve learned my lesson to go see him before the injury gets worse. Dr Dufour is a great listener and explains things clearly so the treatment make sense and he also recommends great/​easy stretches to do at home to help heal faster. I would highly recommend him!

I have been to a couple chiropractors and Dave has clearly been the best. he is not just a knowledgable chiropractor, he is a really great listener and very easy to talk to, making visits easy and comfortable.
He helped guide me through an ongoing shoulder alignment that was a result of an Ultimate Frisbee. I recommend him to anyone dealing with pain or injury.

David is really great for first-​time visitors to chiropractors!
I went to David about a week ago with a lot of growing back/​neck issues and a growing concern from me. I was able to tell him about my neck pain, work conditions, and concerns and he listened really well. I was even able to tell him how I was hesitant because I had never been to a chiropractor before and it can be hard for me to relax when it comes to my body, especially moving around my back and neck. David understood completely and reassured me and even felt the same way, which was nice to hear.
As far as the treatment goes, David had different and cool techniques to stretch and massage the neck muscles. It was definitely effective and I felt much better about my neck and back after visiting David. Will not hesitate to visit him again. Definitely recommend giving him a visit.

Dr. Dufour is different from other chiropractors I have seen and I have seen quite a few!
I strained my back working at my desk and am also struggling with some stubborn old injuries.
I saw an Acupuncturist for a while but didn’t find real relief. I even went to see an Orthopedic Doctor who could only offer pain killers, physical therapy or surgery!
Even though physical therapy was not quite effective for me before, I was willing to give it a try again.
While looking for a physical therapist on Unilocal,I came across Dr. Dufour. By working together, Dave helps me believe that I can feel better again.
What makes Dr. Dufour stands out is his expert use of ART (Active Release Technique) along with his Chiropractic adjustments which really help loosen up very tight muscles tendons and joints.
Unlike other chiropractors who will push through like an assembly line, Dr. Dufour really takes his time to do the work with me.
Even though I am not where I should be, but in just a few weeks, I am slowly able to get back to playing sports again!

Absolutely amazing and wonderful doctor!
After I hurt my back I had to stop doing workouts due to pain and not only this was uncomfortable but also it was scary as my back hurt when I was sitting and moving. After only two visits to Dr. David Dufour my back was fixed and now I can again enjoy my sports and lifestyle!

What I appreciate most about Dr. Dufour is his experience working with the athletes on the San Jose SaberCats team. Those guys go through a lot and Dr. Dufour has seen a lot as a result. I have sports-​related problems — sciatica, low-​back pain, and problems related to muscle tightness. HIs muscle-​release technique is great. I can see the technique he uses is a lot of work, and he spends a good amount of time with me per session, and the results are great.
He’s also great at giving advice on what to do outside of his office, so that I can take care of myself as much as possible. He doesn’t push his services on me and pressure me to do more sessions which I have definitely experienced elsewhere.

After visiting two other chiropractors, Dr. Dufour’s office was the only one that I was able to walk out of, rather than shuffle /​hobble. Previous to seeing him, my herniated disk was so bad that a random old lady on the street offered to hold a door open for me. At the time, I seriously considered asking if she would lend me her walker.
Dr. Dufour produced such great results and commands such extensive knowledge that I invited him to my company to hold a workshop (as I run our employee well-​being program). Of all my co-​workers whom he saw, every one was pleased with his professional demeanor, personal attentiveness and most of all, results.
