Baskin-Robbins 31 Ice Cream & Yogurt Store

This used to be a nice place many years ago but I’ve seen it slowly deteriorate, getting dirtier and gloomier as the years wore on. The ice cream is typical middle market, not bad but not gourmet. The prices were reasonable the last time I came here but I finally gave up coming here.
The place feels as gloomy as it looks and it seems like the owner just doesn’t care any more, it’s hard to bring everyone here to try to enjoy an ice cream, an event that should be pure pleasure, when the place looks so dirty, run down and dingy.
I don’t come here any more, it’s just creepy and I can’t eat where I don’t feel clean so for a little bit more I now look for the ice cream trucks like Rocko’s Tacos as well as Cookies N Cream at the Palo Alto Off The Grid event on Monday nights. Give those guys a try and you’ll see what I mean, it’s a much better, cleaner and happier experience.

Who can say no to ice cream? Ok, maybe I won’t ask that question. But I’ve been frequenting this Baskin Robbins since I was a little girl. Ice cream is ice cream, and I’m not that picky, but this is a good shop. Friendly owners, great staff, clean store, and fresh ice cream.
My sister had recently mentioned that her co-​worker told her that Baskin Robbins ice cream cakes aren’t good and that Cold Stone has better cakes. I thought that was a bold statement. For as long as I remember (and this is me reminiscing about my childhood), I enjoyed Baskin Robbins’ ice cream cakes. My sister even went on to say that she’s had a few recently, from a different store, where the cake was dry. So for my niece’s birthday, she was going to get an all ice cream cake, instead, to avoid dry cake. However, I’m not sure if it was the upcharge or what that made her change her mind. I’d like to say that I’m just very convincing because she did end up getting an ice cream cake from this Los Altos branch, and EVERYONE was thrilled with the cake.

Baskin Robbins has been a staple of Los Altos culture for as long as I can remember. It is the place to go after sports events. During the holidays they hang up local children’s artwork and has many local kids employed. The ice cream is pretty good but not world class. It is worth going to on the weekends if you live in Los Altos because there is always someone you know there!

Campfire s’mores is like glamping for your tastebuds. Be careful, it’s very melty true to its marshmallow mousse roots. The graham pieces are made of the graham crusts on cheesecake rather than graham crackers. 5 stars for the campfire s’mores flavor.

FILTHY!!! I’ve lived in Los Altos for 8 years, and my kids always ask for ice cream when we are downtown. I’ve always considered B.R. ice cream mediocre at best but the kids like all the flavors. What ruins this location is it’s SO DIRTY! It’s like they never clean it. The floor is filthy and the glass is always nasty. The ice cream is always too soft like the cooler case is constantly breaking down. I refuse to go there after my last experience this summer. Secondly, it’s run by 16 year old kids. The owner is never there. I’m sorry but most 16 year olds are clueless. Years ago they had a good manger named Doug, He moved on to a real job and the place went downhill steadily.

Sadly, while this probably won’t keep us from coming here, some of the kids that work in here have no concept of customer service. Just got three kids scoops that were about half the normal size. Mentioned it to the kid that scooped it and he looked at me with a blank stare and muttered, «Oh.»
All for supporting local businesses but seriously, figure out how to train your employees.

BEWARE!!! Absolutely avoid this place! They take advantage of children! My daughters went in without me (I was outside with the dog) and ordered 2, triple kid’s scoops cones on the one dollar/​scoop day, Tuesday. I sent them in with $ 6.60 and they were told that they owed $ 3 more. I asked someone to hold the dog and went in and spoke to the manager. He told me that the girls had ordered KIDS SCOOPS and only the regular scoops were covered by the $ 1/​scoop promo. I then tried to use my LAHS Community Card, which promises 2 scoops for the price of one and the manager again told me that the discount only applied to regular scoops not kid’s scoops! He did not apologize for not informing the girls in advance to get regular scoops and didn’t refund any of my money. We have been going here for 7+ years and will not be returning.

REally bad service. Rude franchise owners. Will not frequent again. Cannot believe such rude and unfriendly people. No wonder it got a 0 star from another person. Not surprised.

I’d give 0 star if I can. I am a loyal BR fan and this specific BR is very stingy on their serving of ice cream. I went at 2 different times, 2 different servers and both times, their single scoop is about half of what you typically get from other BR. Not sure if this is their way of keeping costs down or they’re not aware how to measure a scoop ie roll that sucker, pack it really tight, and no air pocket. I hope the franchise owner is reading this and will retrain all staff on how to get this right.

i love BR, but I would like to know why the ice cream scoops are getting smaller and smaller every time I go there. I’ve seen on TV how BR franchises are to be run and there don’t promote skimping on the scoops.

Sitting outside the store on the outside store benches enjoying a scoop of mint chocolate chip on a sugar cone on a beautiful warm Friday evening, which happened to be the last day of summer 2012. What’s not to love about that?

Nearly $ 3 for the smallest ice cream cone I’ve ever seen, even from BR (which is usually on the small size). I know it’s Los Altos, but raise the prices, don’t skimp on the scoop size.

What a great deal! Tuesday 6−10pm, dollar scoop kid size! Ice cream is baskin robbins, so you cant go wrong there. Plus, the jingle ice cream and cake and cake…
Service wise, this is the best ice cream place around. We’ve been to Baskin Robbins up and down the state and the Los Altos store has consistent friendly and excellent service. Same goes for hit or miss service at Cold Stone or even Ricks. Even when we’re in Palo Alto or Mountain View, we’ll make the drive to Los Altos to ensure we get a great ice cream experience.

We are big fans of BR in downtown Los Altos. We grew tired of guessing whether other ice cream parlors would be open on a given evening. The staff and employees at BR are ALWAYS friendly and courteous and they are pretty good at recognizing repeat customers!
My husband celebrated his 41^st birthday last month. A few days prior, I requested a log cake with some simple cookie wheels put on it –(I was planning to finish building the log into a train cake). To my surprise, Leo went above and beyond. He printed out a picture of the train and one of his co-​workers decorated the cake. It was fabulous and everyone at the party loved the log cake. THANK YOU!!!
And yes… Dollar scoop Tuesdays is pretty darn awesome!

Before the froyo and gelato craze, there were only ice cream and sorbets shops. As a childhood pastime favorite, I always liked a sweet ice cream scoop on a sugar cone. I remember when Thrifty’s in San Jose used to be only 29 cents per scoop (I must be old!). And now ice cream can fetch up to $ 2.50 per scoop while gourmet ice creams can break the bank at $ 4 and up per bowl even before toppings.
Baskin Robbins in downtown Los Altos has the best deals on Tuesday nights from 6−10pm. They only charge $ 1 per kids scoop and $ 1.50 per regular scoop (That’s what I call a deal!). The kids that work at this location are usually disorganized, but they get the job done as fast as they can. As lactose intolerant as I am, I try to control my ice cream intake. Just last year, they stopped selling my favorite flavor, Superman. It looked like rainbow sherbet but tasted like bubblegum ice cream with swirls of purple, blue, and green making this uniquely flavored ice cream. I’ve tried their ice cream cakes before and they are great for birthdays and other occasions.
Overall, I can never pass up a good deal when I see it. Even if I have to pay the lactose intolerant price and visit the porcelain god later, I’ll do it!

My friend is seriously addicted to the Cappucino Blasts, so we stop in here once a week. The people are always friendly and there is never a wait.
Today I tried the M&M shake with marshmallow bottom. Wow. Talk about mainlining sugar, its amazing. But now that I’ve tried it I feel like my curiosity is sated.
I did notice they are adding more frozen yogurt and low fat, low calorie options, which I really appreciate. And I like the $ 1 cones on Tuesdays and the 39 cent night in April. Finally, a place we can go that won’t break the bank.

OK so it’s Baskin Robbins, not exactly top-​notch ice cream, but not the store brand either. I grew up eating basking robbins so some of the flavors have that nostalgia factor.
Just yesterday my sister was teasing me about how I uesd to order Daquari Ice as a kid. In fact, the last time I got ice cream I ordered Daquari Ice. She says it’s not a real flavor. I like it. Go figure.
But this location has paticularly good customer service. It’s usually clean and they send me coupons. I like coupons.
