Your experience will fluctuate based partly on your rank and luck of the draw. I’m an army officer and so my accommodations are slightly different than some of the others that gave reviews. This is no Hilton but the rooms are clean and functional. My room has a private full bathroom, desk, mini fridge and Queen bed. There is plenty of space for all of my army gear. The other thing that fluctuates is the cost of the room. Room rate is based on rank so while some pay $ 40/night for their room others will pay $ 60. Although it is pretty safe to say that if you are a higher rank and are paying more you are also getting more– like a private bath vs community shower. I did get especially lucky one weekend and got the big suite. Completely remodeled with marble shower and mini kitchen and 4 poster bed. Score! I’m not always that lucky. It works just fine for drill weekends. It’s clean, it’s close, and it’s the Army. The alternative for me is the barracks or a pup tent. So I will gladly take this instead.

It’s been a long time since I took billeting on base. The last time I did, I was in one of the DV houses. Very nice! I could live there! However, I don’t think any ol’ joe can stay there. So I’ll review the regular billeting. I stayed in Building 19, the one where you share a room with someone and share a bathroom with another room. You’re looking at twin-size beds and not a whole lot of privacy. The beds are fairly close together. I remember waking up, rolling over, and freaking out because the other guy seemed so close! Depending on how filled up they are, you may have to be very quick/early in the morning to get to the toilet and shower first, before someone else funks it up. The doors and walls are pretty thin, so don’t be surprised if you can hear the world. With any luck, you just need a cheap place to sleep overnight and you’re not too picky. Or more likely, someone is forcing you to stay there. Sorry. If you have a choice, I would almost recommend finding something outside the gate. PS. Retirees and contractors have to stay in Building 35, which costs a little more money. But it’s a private room(much like a dorm room), but you have to use the community bathroom down the hall.

Because I’m in the service sometimes my unit puts us up here. I have been put here a number of times. This place is so hit or miss. They have two buildings for this hotel like place. One side is enlisted the other side is officers. Also if you are a Male you will not get a room with a shower unless your an officer. The officer rooms have heating no AC and a shared restroom with a standing shower only. Rooms are 2 person shared and two rooms share a bathroom. The officer rooms are close to the fight line and if there are units flying at night you can hear aircraft flying. Also in this building they have a meeting hall for parties and a Pub Fiddlers Green. If your on the side of the pub the walls are real thin and you can hear everything. Room are old and not updated. I have been locked in my room on the second floor because the door knob broke off. The window was old wooden and nailed shut. Heating is old hotwater heaters that bring the heat in but the internet connection is normally located right next to it. The enlisted side is behind the officer rooms and across the street. Most rooms are single person queen size bed. It’s small and feels like a college dorm. They painted and carpeted this place a few years back but it’s not very comfortable. As the walls are thin and you can hear whole conversations or TV’s. The enlisted side has AC only, no heat. So during the winters months bring something warm or an extra blankets because their isn’t much. If your showering its like a dorm males have to shower and toilet in the common rest room. Females have a shared bathroom between 2 rooms. All rooms I have stayed in come with a desk, frig, cabinet for cloths, chair, bed, and sink. TV’s are old box VCR in TVs. No phones so you can’t call the base to have people keep it down. Security for these rooms are slim shut and lock your door. If you are unlucky enough to share a room I have experienced walking in on a person going thru my stuff twice. Management isn’t very responsive when you let them know about the issues. I’ve told my command and sometimes its fixed. For under $ 40 a night it’s better then the local Meth/Whore/Pedifile filled cheap stuff off post. But I stay here cause my work forces me to for them to save money.
