Merry Minstrel Singing Telegrams specializes in singing telegams in the Orlando, Tampa and Clearwater areas. In addition we rent bounce houses in Orlando, Tampa, Clearwater and the surrounding areas. We have been in business for over 20 years. Merry Minstrel also does, clowns, face apinting, balloon twisting, magic, juggling, theme parties and celebrities in Orlando and the Tampa Bay area.

We carry a large selection of inflatable equipment and can organize large corporate events, festivals as well as the backyard birthday party. Organizing and bringing together all aspects of an event is our specialty. Whether it is an elephant ride, and rock wall or just a bounce house rental, it is our goal to make sure that our customers receive quality on time service.

History

Established in 1972.

Back in the 1970’s, Sydney Smith, a thriving photographer and entreprener came up with the idea to sing birthday greetings. Dressed in a red tuxedo jacket, organ grinder with monkey in tow, armed with a kazoo, he bursted into homes and businesses singing birthday wishes to unsuspecting victims. Business boomed immediately and he opened several franchises located in Indianapolis, New Orleans, Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville. Belly dancers, stripper grams and messengers in gorilla suits took the United States by storm and Sydney became known for creating the first singing telegram since Western Union had stopped delivering hand delivered teelgrams. Although many have tried to copy Sydney’s show, Merry Minstrel has made it a goal to preserve the traditional singing telegram show and continues to perform the same telegram show created by Sydney over thirty years ago. Today, Sydney resides in New Orleans and owns and manages the Haunted History Tours.

Business Owner

I have been the owner of Merry Minstrel singing Telegrams and Special events in Orlando and Tampa Florida for 16 years. I began working for the original owner Sydney Smith in 1989 when I was a college student. I began as a singing messenger, delivering telegrams, bikini grams and belly grams all over the Tampa Bay area. Three years later, I was on my way to Orlando to manage Merry Minstrel Orlando. I have been here ever since. Since starting with Merry Minstrel, I have seen many changes. What started as a singing telegram service has morphed into a full service event company including, entertainment, inflatable rentals, décor, party and event planning and yard greetings. My goal is to provide the best service possible for a fair price to my clients. I always try to succeed in making each event a memorable and positive experience. I love my job and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I look forward to working with you and thanks for checking out my listing!
