History
Established in 1950.
The practice began on February 3, 1950, when Dr. Richard A. Barnes opened his office at 464 Main Street. Over the next decades, as the office grew, the office location changed throughout the Longmont community. Various doctors joined and retired from the practice, including Dr. Barnes, Dr. Robert Schwartz, Dr. Larry Forest, and Dr. John Mees.
From June 1993 through April 1999, Dr. Mees practiced solo until Dr. Jason Kaminski joined the practice, and eventually the practice became Mees & Kaminski Eyecare. In 2001, the practice became affiliated with Vision Source, a nationally recognized group of eye doctors. Then, in 2003, the office moved to the current location at 2130 Mountain View Avenue, Suite 207. This location is just west of the Medical Campuses of Longmont United Hospital and the Longmont Clinic.
After 36 years of serving the Longmont community, Dr. Mees retired in July 2011, and in January 2012, Dr. Kaminski renamed the practice Vision Source Longmont.
