I haven’t been here in quite awhile… however I must say I only go in for the Napoleon pastries but every time I’ve went in they’re gone… I think you have excellent desserts but unfortunately I only want one specifically and am a bit disappointed that there is none left when I make my trip down there… If I could get a response and tell me the best time to come in, that would mean a lot to me :) I would love some fresh yummy Napoleon…
Also, a few yrs ago my husband and I were told that the baker only makes the bread/​pastries on Sundays and Monday mornings are the best time to get fresh bakery, is this true? If I could get a response and or come in to buy some, I will change my star rating…

First the good stuff:
Fast, friendly service, hot coffee, amazing pastries and bread.
Now the bad:
The décor is dreadfully dated and a little shabby.
With the exception of a handful of lunch items, there’s nothing «Barvarian» about the food. It’s basically the same menu you’d get at any diner. I ordered the Eggs Benedict while my friend got the Wienerschnitzel Sandwich. Everything on my plate was lukewarm. The eggs should have been poached, but were instead completely cooked through like a hard boiled egg. The English muffins were barely toasted and the hashbrowns were the opposite of crispy. My friend’s sandwich was better, with the meat crispy and hot, although his fries were as sad as my hashbrowns.
Everything was «edible» but there are much better places in town to grab brunch or a sandwich. Clearly their specialty is baked goods and not breakfast/​lunch!

We have been wanting to try this place for quite some time. Went for breakfast today. Food was very good service was great and the prices very reasonable. My family is from this part of the world chezc German. The bakery had items my grandmother made years ago. Very good brought back a lot of memories. We will be back!

Not sure why they only have 3 stars… I love this place! Awesome bakery! Very traditional which I love. Killer breakfast burritos! Very family oriented. Everything I have had has been so top notch. Great job you guys!

This place is Ok. The pastries were really yummy but the ambiance is past it’s prime. I really hate to say that but it’s true. New paint, repairs, and replacement of some of the 20 year old fixtures would really help. The Breakfasts were good but the hash browns were served cool; that really annoyed me. Could I have sent them back? yeah, but I didn’t. We finished with some Cream puffs which were delicious. I’d give it another chance.

Wilhelm here — from Düsseldorf. I live in Longmont. I have eaten at Michael’s thrice — not impressed but not terrible. Last time, though, and believe me it WILL be the last time, I took a friend there for the daily lunch — we both had the Bratwurst plate. The Bratwurst was gristly overcooked and devoid of flavor. It was like eating a log of compressed dead rats. The fries were long, thin, limp and nearly black — no idea how that is done. They were absolutely the worst I have ever tried. I took a bite of each and really wanted to spit it out. The waitress was nice so we just told her we weren’t as hungry as we thought, paid, and left. We got a «Brötchen» with our meal. It looked like a German roll but I’m sure I have never had compressed sawdust called that before. No flavor at all. Perfect companion to a dead bratwurst. Since I’ve had breakfast there that wasn’t too bad I can only surmise that they were having a bad day. Give me a few years and I may become intrepid enough to venture there again. In the mean time, why don’t we have any decent German restaurants here?

Had lunch here today. Been wanting to try the lunch menu since they added it and it was wonderful! I had the hamburger with onions, mushrooms and avocados with fresh hand cut french fries and it was great! The bun was made homemade by them too! My friend had the hamburger with artichoke on it and it was yummy as well! We need to get this place some business so it stays around. Always looking for a new good eatery in Longmont! By the way the pastry smell when you walk in is wonderfully overwhelming! When we walked in, we were the only folks there at 12:15. Others came in after us, but it certainly wasn’t busy. The waitress did a great job and was very friendly and helpful! Check it out!

The Bavarian bakery is a modest nice restaurant/​bakery.
Got me and my wife coffee and shared one blueberry cream cheese pastry. I’m not German or any pro in European dishes. It was good and delish.
As a bakery to enjoy a good quiet morning with your joe it’s very enjoyable with outside seating avail.

This is NOT a true Bavarian bakery. I’ve wanted to try this place for a while and stopped in today. The inside was a bit dated and it was dirty. I don’t know if there was a rush ahead of me, but we were the only table in the place at 10 am and the floor was filthy. The pastries we tried were dry. I asked about Bavarian pretzels, which are prominent on their website, and the girl working the pastry counter said they rarely have them. We decided to stay for breakfast. The food was just OK. I ordered the Longmont scramble, which has bacon and avocado in it. What I received was a dish that had no avocado at all. The service was great and our waitress was very friendly. That’s what earned this place the second star. Don’t waste your time…

OK maybe this place isn’t authentic Bavarian, but I will not go ANYWHERE else in town for pastry. Seriously, to die for.
The breads — meh. I’m not sure about their other offerings, but I will continue to gobble up their individual pastries and their strudels (FIVE flavors, people!) for as long as my pants still fit.
Don’t judge this place solely on the bread loaves (I’ve not been happy with those). Just get the pastry and I’ll see you in Nirvana.

Not a Bavarian Bakery
Not a retail location worth visiting
To sum it up, this place needs to change its name and completely do away with its «retail» space and focus on its wholesale bread business. I chose to check this place out after driving buy on many occasions and seeing that their loafs were available at the local King Soopers. Like other reviewers have stated this place is indeed NOT Bavarian in any sense of the word.
They create standard American pastries along with the Baklava being the sole international item
If you’re looking for Bavarian items, continue the hunt
If you’re looking for pastries, your local grocery will suffice

Although I’m always glad to have a local bakery, I wish this one tasted just a bit better. The selection is good, especially earlier in the day but the brownie was hard and the mini éclair was just ok. The cheese Danish sample was good. Prices are a bit high, but it depends on what you get and they do have day old bread on discount as well as gluten free foods.

Okay, I am going to preface this by saying I am not well-​versed in German breads and pastries.
But I think this place is just fantastic.
Every time I go in the people are friendly. I have been buying their bread since I moved back to Colorado in 2008 and haven’t found anything else that comes close in terms of flavor, simplicity of ingredients, and nutrition. I usually buy directly from the store to get a fresher loaf.
I LOVE their pastries. I could eat one of their cheese danishes every day. The doughs are flaky and tender, the icings are not overly sweet or overly present, and the fruit and cheese fillings are delicious. Plus the prices can’t be beat. Comparing these to other grocery stores and even Whole Foods, I’d say Bavarian definitely trumps the competition in the area.

Well, I am a native German and this is NOT what a German or Bavarian bakery looks like. The bread is not fresh. The pastries are not German or even European style. I went in there, was shocked and embarrassed. I got a pre-​packed lame bread that was made by somebody else (as indicated on it’s label), and the pastries were not German either. I am not sure if this so-​called «master baker» got his degree and couldn’t hold a job over there so he came here.
PLEASE don’t think that this is what a German bakery looks like or sells. It is not at all the case. German bakeries have a huge selection for great breads, mostly not just white bread, and the pastries are high quality as well even in the bakery chains.
I am not saying to not buy here, just don’t buy here and expect the high standards usually known in German bakeries.

The Bavarian Bakery — a place I’ve visited a number of times because I really want to like their breads and pastries, but I just keep coming up empty. The pastries are very flaky and dry and it seems like they all get drizzled with icing to mask the dryness. I decided to try this bakery again today because I noticed that they are now a certified organic bakery. Unfortunately, the bread isn’t any better — dry and stale.

Nothing in this place is Bavarian, from the tons American pastries (they looked pretty good), American style rye, and soft rolls. As someone who LOVES German brochen I was seriously disappointed.
That being said, the raisin bread was pretty good, but not worth the $ 4 I paid for it and definitely not worth the trip to Longmont.

I really wanted to like this place. When I got there, a gentleman was touching up the painting of baked goods on the outside, and it was quiet.
I decided to try rum balls, a macaroon, and baklava. The rum ball wasn’t too rum-​laden, though it was a bit mushy. I would have preferred a more cakey texture or something closer to gulab jamun, but it seemd undercooked. At least I didn’t have to worry that my co-​workers would think I’d had a few lunchtime cocktails.
The macaroon, though also seemingly a bit undercooked, was better. It was cakier than the ones I get at Whole Foods, but it had enough coconut and was quite tasty.
The baklava was my fave from this place. It was very gooey, but in a good caramelly way. The pastry was flaky, too.
I’d try this place again, but I wouldn’t recommend it without finding a true gem amongst their goods first.

Yum. This place is definitely worth checking out if you are in Longmont! All kinds of danishes, strudels, and delicious flaky pastries.
I am actually angry with myself that we haven’t been going there since we moved to Longmont. They recently painted the sides of their building bright orange with BAKERY in huge letters and being the visual person I am, I had to check them out. So glad I did.
They also have pies which I haven’t tried yet but need to, and loaves of bread which I believe they said are both Kosher and organic.
Head’s up: They do not accept credit cards, but they do have an ATM right inside the shop.
