Family medicine with emphasis on personalized care. Each individual is important and our entire health care team, from the receptionist’s desk to the provider’s office, will give you personalized care. With our care coordination, we can help you navigate the complex medical system with referals and coordination of care with your specialist. We extend our care to Longmont United Hospital from newborn care to hospital inpatient care.
History
Established in 1993.
The practice was actually started by my father, John Hinman, MD who came to Longmont in 1961. I joined his practice in 1993 and we worked together for 5 years until his retirement. I have continued working independently and still see many of his patients that he took care of. I have been joined by Leila Rankin, physician assistant, who has been with me the last 10 years.

Longmont is my home and were I grew up. After receiving a BA in Biology and Chemistry from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, I graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1986. Family practice residency training was completed in 1989 at the USAF Medical Center Scott, Scott AFB, IL. I practiced 4 years with the Air Force at Ramstein 316th Air Base Clinic in Ramstein, Germany to complete the obligation for my military scholarship through medical school. In 1993, I joined my father’s practice in Longmont Colorado and have continued to practice on my own since my father’s retirement in 1997.
I went into family practice because I liked the idea of being able to take care of entire families and the individuals within the family throughout their life. I take a personalized approach, encouraging patients to take an active roll in their health care. I feel that every person should be able to have a doctor that they call their personal physician.
