We are a full service American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited veterinary hospital. AAHA accredited hospitals are held to the highest level of standards in the veterinary industry, and are required to endure thorough inspections of their facilities on a regular basis. Rest assured that when you bring your family’s pet to us he/​she is in excellent hands. At the LSAH you will find a group of highly educated, motivated and compassionate professionals who strive to keep your much loved friend vibrant, strong and healthy. History

Established in 1978.

Longmont Small Animal Hospital has been accredited with AAHA since 1992. We also have been members of the American Veterinary Medical Association and serving the Longmont community since 1978. We are committed to promoting responsible pet ownership and preventative health care. We have on staff a highly trained diagnostician for diagnosing medical problems and an excellent surgeon for all the soft tissue surgeries and orthopedic surgeries needed. Our veterinarians and technicians are continually going to continuing education classes to keep current on the latest advances in medicine for your pet.

Business Owner

Dr. Harvey Shaffer is a native Coloradoan who grew up in Eastern Colorado. He got his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University in 1973. After graduation from vet school Dr. Shaffer was accepted to Oklahoma State University to do a years internship in small animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Shaffer grew up loving and caring for all kinds of large and small animals and after finishing school decided to open his own practice in Longmont, Colorado in 1978.

Dr. Shaffer really enjoys working with your four legged friends and has six of his own to take care of. When an animal comes in without a home, Dr. Shaffer feels sorry for them and ends up taking them home. He strongly believes in keeping animals pain free when they come in for surgery or have a serious illness. Dr. Shaffer keeps current on the latest advances in veterinary medicine by going to continuing education classes.
