Tried this buffet because I like this kind of food on occasion. Big assortment, good variety. It was hard to find Hot food. Barely warm. Taos chicken lacked flavor. Beef dish cold. Staff was friendly, price cheap. I would rather pay $ 10 for a better meal. Building in poor condition. Recommend you try a different Chinese buffet.

DONOTEATHERE!!! I gave it 1 star because it won’t let you post a review without at least 1 star. It’s doesn’t even deserve 1 star! Absolutely HORRIBLE experience. The food was awful… Despite being 5:30pm,(a reasonable time to expect hot, fresh food on a buffet) most was lukewarm, some tasted like had been sitting out since lunchtime, and the crab legs actually tasted spoiled. My daughter and I both starting feeling sick before we even left the restaurant. When I respectfully shared with the staff that I hadn’t even finished one plate of food because the taste/quality was so bad, they were extremely rude and actually said that whether the food is good or bad you still pay. The managers showed up and were incredibly obnoxious. They refused to do anything to try to rectify the situation, in fact they showed up, spoke to the employees in Chinese, never even asked me what happened or apologized for my bad experience. They basically accused me of being racist(which I found funny given my international volunteer work, specifically in Asia) They refused to let me leave and actually called the police! While waiting for the officer to arrive(with my now sick kid practically in tears) another customer approached the managers and offered to pay my bill because they were causing such a scene and being so ridiculous. I accepted her offer graciously and told her I appreciated that and started heading for the door when the female manager actually grabbed my arm and yanked me back. They refused to allow this woman to pay my bill and blocked the door saying I had to wait for the police! It was absolutely mind-blowing. All I expected after such a bad meal was some basic customer service. I’ve been in the restaurant industry before, both as a server and as a manager, and I would NEVER in a million years treat customers the way I was treated. They were more concerned with getting their $ 10.99 than they were with taking care of a customer. The best part was when the cop walked my daughter and I out, apologized for the fact that he had to uphold the law which states they can force me to pay, and said this was not the first time he’d been called to this restaurant for the exact same scene. This was not an isolated incident. This is how they do business. It was by far the worst dining/customer service experience I’ve had since I can remember.

The good, the bad and the indifferent. I really enjoyed the Mongolian beef, General Tso’s chicken and the salmon. My son enjoyed the noodle dishes. My wife loved the green beans, the seafood and the mushroom dishes. With over 50 dishes to choose from, your likely to find something you’ll appreciate if you enjoy americanized Chinese food. If you come for you favorites, you may be disappointed. The hot and sour soup was neither hot nor sour. According to my daughter the french fries were not good. My son appreciated the soft serve ice cream. The place was clean and well lit. The service was prompt.

Cold salty fake food. And signs all over saying u could have an extra charge if you take too much food. The guilt to eat the bad food or be charged more was way too much for us

I give five stars if I have no complaints. I thought the food was good. The staff was friendly and prompt. Refills for my sodas were quick. They were asking me for refills at the right time. Cleanliness was good. I would definitely return again. I had the broccoli beef, veg fried rice, egg drop soup, french fries, onion rings and teriyaki chicken.

1. Make sure you read all the signs handwritten before you eat here! 2. Food– Soggy crab legs, butter tasted like coconut oil, over all not good they water down their sauces 3. Service– rude, on their phone constantly 4. Dining room– dirty, greasy, grimy and if this doesn’t do it for you go into the bathroom! The pump on the liquid soap doesn’t work so you shove your hand in the broken top for the soap! The floors around the buffet are this bad what does the kitchen look like? The health department can’t be down with this! Let’s hope not! My family loved this place 10 years ago but I can’t go back!

You get what you pay for and this is one of those buffets that is not so good. I have had worse, but I don’t think I would be back anytime soon. Really didn’t expect high quality and you know what they came through with my expectations. If you are looking for variety, low quality, lukewarm Chinese food you have found it here. The price was average for a buffet. Other than that nothing to get excited over.

Honestly, I wasn’t going to take my time and write this review but after a little convincing that I should let all you guys know, here I am. If you could care less about customer service then this is the perfect place for you. My husband decided he was craving fried rice and wanted to eat at a Chinese buffet; not to fond of the Chinese restaurants in longmont, I reluctantly agreed to go with him but not eat. I had just gotten home from work where i’d already ate. I’m a server myself so I was definitely not hungry after being around food all day. I’ve also stopped eating at this particular buffet since the quality of their food has declined over the last few years. Anyway, here we are me, my husband, and daughter, who is two. The woman took us to a table and gave us two silverware. My husband served himself a plate and my daughter a plate as well. She hardly touched her plate, however my husband was super hungry that we literally were there for two hours while he ate. Might i add, i didn’t even try anything or eat at all. Finally, he asked for the check and when we received it, we were being charged for 2 people at $ 22.00. At that point we’re like ”okay it’s okay simple fix right? A little weird though seeing that our server regurlarly checked up on us & should’ve noticed I was just sitting there not eating.” So we go up, and let the young gentleman, who was our server, know. Immediately, the other woman who sat us starts speaking to the guy in chinese and I can’t understand chinese but by the expressions on her face and tone of voice it wasn’t anything nice. He tells us «I’m sorry guys there is a sign,» as he points to the sign, «that says you need to let us know when you come in so we can watch you.» Really? That sign is extremely unnoticeable and is printed in black and white on a paper. Nothing that would even get your attention. And watch us? Honestly, I wouldn’t want to be at any restaurant where I’m being watched by my every move, how uncomfortable. Already a wrong start. So I’m like«really we didn’t know that, you can hardly see that sign but I apologize we’ll let you know next time» he said«yeah now you know for next time, so $ 22.00» and we’re like«what? But I didn’t eat can we talk to a manager» he said«the manager is not here but you have to pay for that.» «Pay for what? Food that I didn’t even eat?» As if it couldn’t get anymore unprofessional, that chinese lady starts yelling in her language to the guy that we’re talking to with no shame. At this point there were still customers in the dining room. What an unpleasant experience for them too. She didn’t seem to care. He then starts accusing me of having ate saying«both silverware were unwrapped you must pay» then tries to make us feel bad by saying«So i’m going to have to pay for this?» «No! No one should have to pay for food that hasn’t been eaten how ridiculous. Why is it so hard for you to write a new check and understand that I didn’t eat?» By far this is the worst way you could treat a customer. You don’t have to be a server to know this! As if it couldn’t get any worse, the woman yelling in Chinese must’ve been telling him what he should do because, he then threatens us saying«We need third party involved if you don’t pay, I’m calling the police» by this point I’m super frustrated and I’m like«please do so how f***ing ridiculous is this? Call them. I am not paying for anything I didn’t purchase! And you guys wonder why your restaurant is literally empty because what your trying to pull now is so unprofessional you don’t treat your customers like this! You don’t go and speak another language about us! I will never return to this place again! And just so you know I am a server, I deal with people everyday! I would never treat you guys like this at my restaurant ! I was going to leave you a tip STILL, but after this shame on you guys and how you treat the people that give you your job, I am not leaving anything! We will not be back. This by far has been the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

(See my original review from 2011 below this.) My husband forgot how much we hated this place and went again by himself last week. He reports that it’s actually gotten WORSE than it was the last time we were there about 2.5 years ago. He was shocked by how awful the food was. Except for having forgetful customers, how is this place even staying in business?

Wow! What a bad experience! Every single thing I tried at their buffet was bad! I was driving through Longmont around lunch-time and was really jonesing for some good Chinese food. Not only was my craving not fulfilled, but I was actually mad about having to pay for the«food».

The absolute worst chinese buffet you can every imagine. They had veg sushi — sticky paste of rice in carrot wrapped by seaweed. Pizza was cardboard with ketchup on top of it. Noodles was ok. But the chicken in the dumpling fry was raw inside. The egg roll was cold and uncooked inside. The only item that was awesome was the cake in the dessert. But the bill was only $ 14 for both of us. This place has degraded a lot in 2 years

So far, in my tour of Chinese food buffets in Colorado since I moved here in 2007 but I definitely have to say that the quality could be much better. I know of quite a few Chinese food buffets that would put this place to shame. I would go back for lunch but I would definitely not go back there for dinner.

This place is one I have eaten at since it opened, whenever I have a jones for a cheap Chinese buffet. It is exactly what you would expect and is better than many in its price bracket. But it has been on a downward slope for the past year. The standard and variety of the food has declined. Dishes run out and don’t get replaced fast enough, or at all. The hot tea is left sitting until it tastes like kerosene. Too many of the fried appetizers and more interesting entrees are left to dry up in a sad little pile, as if to challenge diners to eat the unappetizing remnants before a new dish can be brought out. The sign requesting that you don’t waste food seems kind of crass under those circumstances, although in a place trying to hold cost down, I suppose there are those types who empty the crab leg chafing dish, in case they might miss out, then only eat half. The staff has always been a weakness at China Buffet. Eight times out of ten you’ll get a rude, careless youth who seems to resent working there. They might get more tips if they didn’t take their frustrations out on their customers. The last time I ate there — in December 2009 — is the last time I will ever go. I didn’t enjoy any of the dishes and was sick that night — obviously food poisoning. I’m not surprised. Buffet joints have cycles, and I hope they lift their game again. Meanwhile I’ll stick to driving the distance to Heaven Star instead.
